We (family of five) stayed two nights at Socorro. I can't say enough about the hospitality we received from Don José and his wife Maria Isabel. She is an amazing cook and each meal (included in the overall price) was wonderful. José was equally wonderful, especially with our kids. He could tell we were hikers and liked adventure; he didn't...

My friend and I stayed for 9 nights at this wonderful property at 1000 metres above sea level on the Carribean slope. With lovely gardens, 175 hectares of secondary and primary pre-montane rainforest with walking trails, and beautiful rural landscape as well, this farmstay is very special. Hosts Jose and Maria are very hospitable despite their lack of English (Our...

It's been a little over a week since we stayed with at Albergue el Socorro (April 10--13). My husband and I took our 2 daughter ages 9 and 11 to stay there for 3 days and 3 nights. The bottom line: this is the experience of a life time--you will not find a more wonderful place to visit in all...

We stayed at three elevations during our trip to Costa Rica (first two weeks of March). At 1000 meters, this was our favorite. We could walk around in short sleeves with a cool breeze and little humidity. Evenings cooled down and were perfect for sleeping. Few bugs this time of year. It rained lightly to moderately for two hours each...

Jose (the owner) was born on this farm--it has been in his family for a few generations. He loves the rainforests there, and loves to show guests around. He's a super nice guy, and this is B&B is a great opportunity to see a magical little pocket of rural costa rica. His wife cooks the food and it is EXCELLENT,...

Up at the top of the mountain in a beautiful spot overlooking Volcan Poas is this wonderful little family farm with 3 cabins for guests. I loved the food which is served family style (amongst your family, not with other guests). I especially adored the host, Don Jose. You really cannot find a more hospitable and attentive host. The huge...

Our children loved it here, got to ride horses, milk cows, and take some gentle hikes in the rain forest. I got a little bored with too much downtime. We spent 3 nights here, I think 2 would have been just right. The owner, Don Jose is a welcoming & gracious host, and the meals were delicious local food. The...

We (me, wife and kids 10 and 13) selected this location because it was part of the Costa Rican bird route and my wife is an amateur bird watcher, but we got so much more out of the experience. Don Jose is an engaging individual who wants to help you make your stay the most enjoyable time in Costa Rica....

When my best buddy and I decided to stay a couple of days at this place, we didn't imagine this kind of place, not even in our wildest dreams. When we arrived, we got a home cooked meal, which was amazing, with all kind of Costa Rican specialties. The guy running the places, together with his wife, took us hiking...
