Stayed over in Carlow for a night as I was househunting in the area. The owner was lovely and gave me some auctioneers numbers. As for the place itself, I couldn't fault it. The rooms were clean, the shower was hot, and the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Highly recommended.

Nice hosts! Quiet and cozy room with en suite bathroom. Pretty good water pressure. Mary made breakfast to our liking. Off street parking was key for our rental car. Several restaurants and pubs within walking distance. The local ATM would only accept EMV smart card which was an issue for me.

On a trip to Kilkenny from Dublin we were distracted along the way so decided to stop in Carlow and continue on the next day. So glad we did! Lovely quiet situation with a view of the river (enjoyed watching the swans sail by), yet a very easy walk to town. Plenty of reading material about the town and area... More

The Barrow Lodge was is a great location with of street parking . From the moment we arrived we were looked after , nothing was a problem to the owners. We even asked if we could have breakfast early and that was not a problem. Full Irish breakfast was made for us at 7.30.The room had a queen size bed... More

Were in Carlow for a couple of days to explore the Garden Trail. Selected Barrow Lodge partly from the Trip Advisor reviews and was not disappointed. Perfect location, next to the scenic Barrow River with a bevy (large flock) of graceful swans. Close to restaurants (Mary steered us to Brasserie 15, which we totally enjoyed) and walking paths. Mary also... More

Though we had single rooms they were welcoming spacious with lots of natural light and a lovely view. I was impressed with the cleanliness and the small details like matching towels with face clothes, generous Tea/Coffee facilities, wooden hangers and hair dryer with a decent cable length. The breakfast room is beautifully appointed and the food fresh, various and delicious.... More

If you are in the area and looking for everything that a great B&B should have you will find it here. The location is perfect, on the river with swans swimming by, easy 5 min walk to the centre of town. The rooms are very clean and well appointed, the breakfast was wonderful. After a bad experience the previous night... More

Set in a quiet spot with view of river and hills, the Barrow Lodge has true charm and I loved my four-night stay there in August. The room was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated, with a comfortable big bed and plenty of storage. The breakfasts were superb - all lovely fresh food, beautifully cooked and well presented. The hosts are... More
