Room was perfect for the stay and exceptionally clean. Employees are helpful. Vending machine could be refilled more often. If you come back a bit later after having dinner out then the vending machine is practically sold out

Starling did most things that you would expect from a business hotel quite well. An added bonus for me travelling with family was that they allow pets, which is why I chose to stay here. On the negative side, I would expect given the prices charged that little "extras" like a fridge and coffee machine in the room and a microwave oven available for public use would come as part of the package, but sadly no.

I’ve stayed at starling hotel during my visit to EPFL in Lausanne, it was a good time there.
I didn’t like the fact that I got a two single beds stacked up in two separate bed mattresses with the same matters cover as it seemed like an unprofessional idea for the high price tag.
You can ask for an iron for free if you’re me and you like to have your clothing in a good form.
I read that they have a gym within the hotel building that I wanted to use but the employee didn’t mention it when I stayed there and I had a busy schedule and that’s why I didn’t ask.
I do appreciate the friendly staff there and their breakfast menu.

The Hotel is located outside the city center near the sea.
Rooms are quite big and well furnished. What was really good was the silence during the night, no rumor at all.
10 min walk and you have the M1 EPFL which brings you in the city center and the hotel give you a card that alllow you to travel free with public transport for your entire staying (maybe only with direct reservation). Othwerwise if you come with car there is a private parking.
good value for money

The Starling Hotel has a nice comfortable feel, the bedroom was as one would expect from a hotel of this standard, although the quirky bathroom layout behind the bed may not be to everyone’s taste. The only minor irritation in the bedroom was the fridge wasn’t working. Pulling it out from it’s cupboard exposed the problem, it wasn’t plugged in. We also hadn’t remembered that Switzerland doesn’t always use the EU power outlets, the Starling has none in the bedrooms. Fortunately we did have one universal adapter which we made fit.
The real disappointments for a hotel of this standard is the breakfast offering. We stayed three nights, it was the same every day. There was a very limited selection of cold meats and cheeses, but the biggest failing was the consistently runny scrambled eggs. I would be amazed if it was made from fresh eggs, it was truly awful every day. The remainder of the hot selection was OK, but the very strange spicy baked beans were not to out liking.
We felt the breakfast was poor value for the cost, but on our final day (Sunday) it was shambolic. The breakfast room was a little busier than on other days, but by nowhere near full. However the staff were totally unable to cope. At various times, they ran out of sugar, bread and butter. The glass cups/glasses which were the only things big enough to accept a latte from the coffee machine were absent the whole time we were eating. We did ask for all the missing items, it seems having an adequate stock of coffee glasses is beyond them. Guests finally worked out they could steal the juice glasses from the vacant tables for use with coffee instead. The two? staff on duty were trying their best, but a hotel of this supposed standard should provide an appropriate staffing level to cope with the busier breakfast periods.

Too isolated from the center, kind of a scary location.
The hotel personnel didn't manage to set my tv system meaning that I couldn't watch tv for an entire week. I watched the eu final in a conference room in the basements of the hotel...
The shower door was not properly fixed and tons of water got out every time I showered.
Automatic lights in the room kept on switching on at night without me passing by as I was sleeping...is this hotel ghost hunted??? ahaha
I kept the window opened for 1 day and the room got filled in with insects which I didn't notice. The day after I realized something had played all night long with my face which had turned into a red balloon. I had to rush to pharmacy to find something but everyone at the meeting asked what was wrong with me.

Overall the hotel is very good. My only comment would be on the breakfast. It is not very complete and it is always the same. For those of us who travel a lot and stay at this hotel often, it would be good to have more variety and change the food from day to day. I suggest you add more fruit options, more protein options (maybe fried eggs, omelets, other options), or even pancakes or something different. Juices could be natural, not boxed and fresh squeezed orange juice would be fantastic.
I recommend you add a second coffee machine, since when there is a lot of people, there is always a queue to get coffee. And, having lactose free milk for the coffee would be great, too.
Regarding the room, you may want to do something about the shower doors. Water always comes out of the shower because the seals are old and not very effective.
The toiletries (shampoo, soap, body cream) don't have the best smell... maybe consider other options???
The service provided by the staff is magnificent! Especially Jean Claude and the staff at the restaurant.

The room was very good with a view of the lake - good size - great shower - the noise of the air conditioning is a bit annoying, as it is needed to heat the room.
I only visited the restaurant once when I arrived in the evening. The duck breast, which cost CHF 45, came with three sandy mini carrots and was obviously from a duck that had fallen from the sky due to old age, it was so tough. The small salad cost another CHF 18, and bread was only available on special request. The wine was watery.

Very nice efficient business hotel close to EPFL and with free shuttle service during the week (not on weekends) that will pick you up at Lausanne train station. The rooms are nice and clean and the service of the staff is really good. Breakfast has many good options, and the restaurant serves really good dinner. Perfect location if you are doing business near EPFL. You also get a metro pass with your stay so that you can use the Metro from EPFL to Lausanne or Renens for free where you can pick up a train, which in Switzerland is always on time. I would recommend this hotel!

We stayed at the Starling for the weekend. The location is beautiful, with a nice view of the Leman Lake from the restaurant.
What we liked:
Parking space available and free of charge (despite being told it will cost 17 CHF / night)
Good breakfast - diverse and sufficient
Helpful and friendly staff
What we liked less · The room we were in had a very incovenient layout. No wall separation between bathroom and the sleeping area. Just one lighting button for all the bathroom area (toilet, shower, washbasin) and when this is lit, the whole room is semi-lit.The shower door did not close properly, so when taking a shower, water leaked into the room

Bonjour
Les prises sont européennes donc aucun soucis
Sinon à la réception ils ont des adaptateurs , en face de l hotel vous avez deux supermarchés on y trouve tout
Mais investissez dans un adaptateur mondial et laissez le dans la valise .

Bon senoir
