This hotel is a good choice if you are on a budget yet want to visit the expensive Vevey/Montreux area. Rooms have been updated in past two years and are clean and modern, though a bit small. Staff is extremely helpful. Breakfast is simple. Location is not far from train station, lake and bus stops. Quiet location, though building construction next door can be heard. Nice restaurant below, with outside terrace for warm days. No in-room refrigerator or hair dryer. There is an elevator that goes to 4 of 5 floors.

Affordable hotel in Vevey. Great location, Internet access from the room, fair restaurant. Service you get depends on who you get at the front desk, the guy was a disaster, the lady was quite good.
One super problem is that it's too hot with the windows closed (no a/c in this hotel), but if you open the windows... let's just say there is an English pub in the building next to the hotel. Even if you are on the top floor, all you can do is lay there and try to work out why every word has to be shouted on top of their lungs.

In Vevey there are several choices of Hotel. However, if you are on a budget there is slightly less choice. Des Negociants is the best value Hotel, in my opinion, I have found so far.
We negotiated a weekly rate which was less than the advertised rack rate. The rooms are basic, but are clean and tidy and located in the rather nice "Old Town" close to the lake, market square and railway station. If you have tons of luggage a taxi will take you from the train station to the door for about 10 Euro including tip!
The restaurant downstairs does an excellent steak and has a pleasant family run feel to it.
There was no ironing facilities in the room which I thought was unusual but was not a problem for me.
There was also excellent wireless internet available from my room for my work laptop.

This hotel is a joke . The room was so hot that I had to keep the window open for the night. On the first floor the noise didn’t stop during the night and people came at 4 am to manipulate some stuff in the street . The breakfast is not existant compared to decent hotels.

I was lucky enough to live in Switzerland a few years ago and we often return for holidays, this was our first time to stay at this hotel and we stayed for 10 days in May. It is a charming hotel based in the old town in Vevey, five minutes from the train station, lake, etc. Vevey isn't as commercialised as Montreux so it is a perfect base. Vevey is very quaint in comparrison to Montreux.We were lucky enough to have a double room with two windows at the front of the hotel, the boulangerie is next door so the smell of fresh bread is just amazing. Breakfast was included and the staff were very friendly and attentative, the evening menu was very good and we ate there most evenings. Our room was quite big with built in wardrobe, it was spotless and was cleaned every day. There was a lovely atmosphere in the evenings with locals and tourists eating on the small terrace. On Saturday mornings there is a huge market in the Place du Marche (2 minutes walk from the hotel), it is a wonderful combination of weird and wonderful food, clothes, antiques and local fare. We are allready planning our return trip next year.

We stayed here for 3 nights in May 2006. Vevey is about 1 hour train ride from Geneva airport, so quite accessable with Easyjet, etc. Vevey was OK, but we prefer the mountains so 3 nights was probably a bit long for us. A Swiss Pass is a good purchase to explore the region using the excellent train network. Des Negociants is 5 minute walk from the train station, and just off the main market square so is an excellent location. It was a bit basic, but has been recently refurbished, was very clean, and all in all excellent value for money. Breakfast is a simple affair in the restaurant downstairs, with fresh croissants, breads and coffees. I would recommend this hotel to anybody spending a couple of nights in Vevey, any longer and I think I would want something with a few more facilities.

We stayed at this hotel with friends for a wedding in Vevey.
The only good point about this hotel is the location, but otherwise we don't have good comments about it. First when we arrived our room wasn't clean, the bed was a mess and you could clearly see that someone slept in our bed !
After talking to the reception the guy said that the room would be ready for when we get back but it wasn't.
In any case, for me the price of this hotel is overrated, it should be around 70 Swiss francs and not over 100.
The only good point about this hotel is the location, but otherwise we don't have good comments about it. First when we arrived our room wasn't clean, the bed was a mess and you could clearly see that someone slept in our bed !

We stayed at this hotel for a wedding in vevey. The first time I did not read the comments here before I book something. And I wish I had done it. I am not the first to complain. This place is in a great location in town. Close to the marche and beach and ....
apart from that there is nothing good about it. One guy runs the whole show: check in, serving, cooking,....and he is a charlatan. He seemed to be the owner. They had emailed us a confirmation for the room price per night for 2 people including breakfast. When we got in to check in he told us the price was for 1 person. If I had not saved the confirmation on my iPhone, we wold be rubbed. I showed him the document and he said he wold have to investigate! He told us later that as it was their mistake to give us the wrong price, he would honor it but without the breakfast. That is, he rubbed us of $60 for two ppl breakfast over two days. This is despie the fact that the conformation said clearly "including breakfast".
The room sucked too:
No AC,
no shampoo/soap,
No help when we needed a cab,
Clean buy the most basic room ever. This had nothing. This is a one star hotel. Avoid if you can.

1 - Upon arrival: untrained waitress unaware of any procedure but very nice - she forgot to tell us we had to check out before 11 the next morning so we were "kick out of our room" by cleaning lady.
2 - The room (N°25 on 2nd floor) is small - for the price you shouldn't have to squeeze between the desk and the bed to get to the window or bedside table.
3 - Bad water pressure in shower causing sudden unexpected temperature changes form freezing to burning... not pleasant at all
4 - the breakfast was a joke... it costs CHF 15.- I felt cheated.
5 - I asked for a satisfaction survey form at the desk to write down all of the above because I couldn't find one in our room - they simply could not supply any (???).
6 - we asked the girl to simply debit the card that we used to make the reservation for the room, but again this was so inconvenient that we had to use our debit card.
This was all together way too expensive for such poor service and equipment.
Avoid les Négociants as much as possible - and if you cannot avoid it, be prepared to hate your stay.

Hotel was great for a 2-star and the rate was good considering how pricey the area is. Location is brilliant - 5 minutes walk from train station, 2 minutes walk from the waterfront. We LOVED Vevey; the lovely old town feel definitely made the pick of the towns we went to on Lake Geneva. Was a bonus that their annual Street Theatre Festival was on at the time of the visit - acrobats & clowns roaming the street gave it a nice buzz. The train system was wonderful for exploring the area. We did mountain biking one day and canyoning another.
