Detailed Reviews
We enjoyed our 10 year anniversary here because not only was the ambiance luxurious but the hotel also had a nanny and playroom in which my daughter age 4 could enjoy her time. The brunch spread was good with many options but there was probably more for seafood and dessert lovers. There was not a great option for vegetarians. There was some meat but we thought it lacked some flavours but it was very thoughtfully prepared. There was a popcorn and candy floss machine which was a cool feature for accompanying guests. The price of the brunch (85 chf) made me give it a 5/5 rating as it felt like it was worth the experience.

Lovely stay here with friends. The reception staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the rooms have everything you could want in them including Aqua di Parma toiletries and lots of free chocolates. The pool area is relaxing with lovely bar staff.
Only a couple of gripes. We wanted to sit at a table in the bar in the evening. They were closing and the waiter insisted on removing the cushions from our chairs to make us uncomfortable, but left cushions on all the other chairs for another hour! And they were very insistent in the restaurant that we should take the expensive buffet breakfast when we just wanted a coffee and croissant.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your stay at our hotel in 2021. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time here with friends and that our reception staff provided you with a warm and helpful welcome. It's wonderful to know that you appreciated the beautiful decor of the hotel and the well-equipped rooms, complete with Aqua di Parma toiletries and complimentary chocolates. We're also glad to hear that you found the pool area relaxing and enjoyed the service from our bar staff. We apologize for the inconveniences you experienced during your stay. The situation in the bar where cushions were removed from your chairs while leaving them on others is certainly not the level of service we aim to provide. We will address this with our staff to ensure a more consistent and pleasant experience for our guests. Regarding the restaurant, we appreciate your feedback about the breakfast options. We will take your comments into consideration to improve our communication with guests and provide more tailored dining experiences. We sincerely value your feedback as it helps us make improvements to enhance our guests' experiences. We hope that you will consider staying with us again in the future, and we look forward to providing you with an even better experience. Warm regards, Luc califano General Manager

A very chic and good located hotel overlooking the lake in Vevey. We booked this hotel directly on their website that included the Riviera card. Service was impeccable! Very friendly & helpful staff. Food served in-house was delicious and of good quality. Our room was facing the lake although it was small, it was comfortable, clean and well decorated.Hotel interior is magnificent! Parking lot is limited but the concierge is able to park your vehicle at a separate parking area. Hotel is just steps away from the lake and city center. A good place to start your lake trip since the ferry boat station is about 50m from the hotel. Take full advantage of the Riviera card. The Montreux Riviera Card is issued to all guests staying in Montreux or Vevey and gives you FREE travel on local trains and buses as well as a number of discounts to local attractions. Highly recommend this hotel for short trips!

The location is very beautiful, however the customer service, and specifically the concierge + hotel manager are incredibly rude and indifferent to their guests needs. We came to this hotel to celebrate a graduation, and although they messed up our reservations, they did not even try to find a viable alternative. They sent us to a fast food restaurants and were incredibly rude when we returned to say that we definitely would not celebrate at a clam shack. They then put us into the buddha bar, where the service was poor and unprofessional. We complained several times about it, but the hotel manager and his concierge was deaf to our complaints.
After leaving, we complained to Relais & Chateaux, and the extremely rude hotel manager wrote back that nobody of my family ever apparently complained and that my "complaints elude (him) somewhat. Regarding to all other comments explained on your email, perhaps we would have had a chance to respond favorably to your expectations if a dialogue could have been done on the spot, during your stay, and not by email after your departure?"
While the property is beautiful, the leadership is incredibly poor and inconsiderate, reflected by its inhospitable staff.

Dear Mrs. Zender, I am following up on your message sent to the office of our Relais & Châteaux association regarding to your recent stay at the Grand Hôtel du Lac. As a very proud member of this prestigious organization, all our teams are working hard all year long to contribute modestly to the reputation of our association. We have all taken good note of your comments and remarks, even if some of them still elude us somewhat. But first of all, I deeply regret that your impressions about your overall stay and more precisely on the mistake of restaurant booking, turns in the end into claims by interposed screens. Regarding to all other comments explained on your email, perhaps we would have had a chance to respond favorably to your expectations if a dialogue could have been done on the spot, during your stay, and not by email after your departure? We did apologize with a gesture on site. Unfortunately, it was not valued by you. In any case, we sincerely regret our mistake as well as your feelings about our property, even if it does not seem to us to be in adequacy with the large majority of our guests on the ambiance, service and experience we strive to offer to all our customers. Thence, on my own behalf, on behalf of all of our teams, please accept our sincere apologies for not having been able to meet your expectations. Now, I sincerely hope that your next experience in a future Relais & Châteaux property will reconcile you with our association and the values we all share. It was a pleasure to serve you and your family during several days and, from our side, we had the feeling that you equally enjoyed your stay with us. It is indeed a pity that this small lapse of attention took the lead on 4 days stay which, according to our impression, was running nicely. To end with, we honestly hope that your entire stay will positively remain in your family’s memories. Please be assured that I remain at your entire disposal to discuss this matter in person at a time of your convenience. Very best regards from Vevey, Luc Califano General Manager

After having spent a week in an hotel in one of the well known Swiss ski resort, I was expecting to get the same level of service for an equivalent price. The hotel is nicely located on the lake, especially in you book a room with a view on the lake (at an extra price though). The grandiloquence of the hotel, XIX century grand style - comes with a trade-off. The rooms are small, with a tiny bathroom and a bed in which 2 adults could barely fit (not sure it was a queen size - looked more like a full bed). The valet parking fee was super expensive (40 CHF) for the car to be parked juts in front of the hotel and the restaurants are in the same vein (super expensive). We visit Switzerland on a regular basis, but it is not the reason to have prices at this level when the room is not in par.

Dear guest, To begin with, thank you for choosing the Grand Hôtel du Lac and for posting your comment. Each feedback is useful to make us keep offering constant excellence. We are delighted that you found the location of the hotel beautiful and regret to read your disappointment regarding the size of your room and the general prices of our establishment. For that reason, we wish to answer you. We are glad that you liked the charm of our 150 years old property. It is indeed a historical place and all our rooms are unique. Each room category has got a specific space and pricing, which is clearly indicated on our website and whilst the booking process. Furthermore, our five-star superior hotel has got aligned prices with other swiss hotels of our category. The prices of our valet parking and catering areas are equally indicated on our website. If some misunderstandings about the above indications occurred, we truly feel sorry about that and would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this further with you. Looking forward to welcoming you back. Yours faithfully. Luc Califano General Manager

We found the service greatly lacking for a 5-star hotel. We had to call multiple times to have our room cleaned, and when it was cleaned, it was only partially done without removing dirty dishes or replenishing bathroom supplies. We also had to call multiple times to have the TV repaired, and it wasn’t done until our second night. I have allergies and developed hives and a rash on the second morning at breakfast. When I asked the wait staff about ingredients in the non-dairy milk and smoothie, he was very condescending and not helpful. I contacted management and they offered to make a “nice gesture” if we choose to return for another visit. This is very unfortunate, given we visited from the U.S. and obviously don’t have another trip to Vevey planned in the future. There are many other beautiful properties nearby that I’d recommend if service is a priority.

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent stay at our hotel. We appreciate your input as it helps us continually improve our services and guest experiences. We are genuinely sorry to hear about the inconveniences you encountered during your stay. We aim to provide exceptional service to all our guests, and we understand that we fell short of your expectations. We would like to address some of the concerns you raised. Firstly, we want to clarify that we did make efforts to resolve the issues you faced during your stay. We understand that you had difficulties with the cleanliness of your room and the television's functionality. Our team attempted to repair the TV on-site and even offered to change your room as an alternative solution, which you declined. We apologize if these efforts were not mentioned in our previous response. Regarding the food allergy-related incident during breakfast, we take this matter seriously and apologize for any discomfort it caused. We have reviewed this with our staff to ensure they are better prepared to assist guests with dietary restrictions in the future. We understand that the waiter's response was not helpful, and we are committed to improving our service in this regard. In response to your email, we did offer a "nice gesture" as a way to express our commitment to guest satisfaction and encourage you to return for another visit. We genuinely regret that you found this response unfortunate, as we would have liked the opportunity to make amends during a future stay. We understand that you have other options in the area, and while we do not typically offer refunds, we would like to extend a special offer or package for your next visit to Vevey. Please contact us directly so we can discuss how we can make your next stay more enjoyable and memorable. Once again, we apologize for the issues you experienced, and we hope you might reconsider staying with us in the future. We are dedicated to providing you with a more satisfying experience should you decide to return. Thank you for choosing to stay with us, and we wish you safe travels on your future adventures. Sincerely, Maxime Hops Director of Sales & Marketing Grand Hôtel du Lac

We really enjoyed our stay at this classy and nicely furnished hotel. We booked their Riviera Love package which is excellent value and includes the Riviera card that gives free boat/bus/attractions. The spa area is small but a good respite at the end of the day.
Our junior suite was very comfortable and roomy with a gorgeous view. The staff were lovely, in particular the waiter at breakfast and the ladies on the front desk/reception. We enjoyed room service twice and breakfast on the terrace was a superb start to each day - the buffet is great. All in all, a very relaxing stay.

In general, we can only say positive things about our stay. The hotel is very clean and currently required safety measures are taken very serious, the view from our room over Lac Léman was outstanding, the hotel restaurant serves excellent food and really deserves its star and points, and the prices we got offered with the riviera package were very fair. If only the service in the restaurant could keep up with these standards, e.g. waiting 20 min for drinks or having to ask multiple times for a dirty chair pillow to be replaced our per se not major issues but it is just not 5*-like.

We spent a couple of nights at this wonderful small grand hotel. It is perfectly situated by the lake and well renovated. We had a junior suite on the top floor with a little balcony and a great view over the lake. Service was good generally speaking, but some things were missing. Although the porter carried our slightly heave luggage to the reception desk on check-out, nobody bothered to help us carry it to our car outside. We had drinks in the bar before dinner at the restaurant Les Saisons on both nights. Service was good throughout except for a younger member of the restaurant staff who wasn't quite up to the job. Overall, we did like the hotel and would probably come back if we were to stay in Vevey again.

Absolutely beautiful hotel! Staff go above a beyond. On arrival we were greeted by the valet who unloaded the car and parked it. We were then greeted at reception by staff who took our cases to the room and showed us around the hotel! Really was 5 star service! The room was spotless and the bed and bedding was so comfortable! The cleaners cleaned the room every day and changed the bed! They even came and did a turn down in the early evening too! We couldn’t fault it!
My only marginal grumble would be the breakfast. I found one waiter very rude. I had an English tea and asked for some milk. I was waiting quite a while so I asked, just in case they’d forgotten, and was spoken to quite abruptly. I then went and got my own milk from the glasses on the breakfast station and he then brought over the milk. I politely said I’d found some and he shook his head and stormed off.
This incident didn’t change my view on the hotel at all though and loved our stay throughly.
