The Hotel is housed in two old buildings and the reception is  in the restaurant through a shaded outdoor terrace.
Check in was quick and I was taken to my room four flights of stairs as there is no lift.
I booked a single room and was given room number 1 a double bedroom. There is no air conditioning in the Hotel but the rooms are centrally  heated. WiFi is free of charge in the rooms and in the hotel. It seems Vevey offers their visitors free wifi in certain areas like the Place du Marché.
Very pleasant clean room overlooking both the market square and side view of Lake Geneva. Comfortable bright double bed European standards a small outdated TV and safe were in the room. A suitcase rack was in the cupboard. No refrigerator no coffee maker and of course no iron. Two small mineral bottles of water one still the other sparkling  were offered free of charge.
The very clean shower had a hair dryer and a really small shower cubicle so if you happen to be medium built you can hardly move while having a shower. Towels hair cap shampoos soaps with shoe shine were supplied.
the Hotel is over a restaurant and the lovely outdoor terrace returning to the Hotel around 10:30 when last orders are served could be a little annoying as you can smell the cooked food. If you return after 11 you should be fine the restaurant starts closing.
After midnight you can only access the Hotel through a back entrance but must make sure you keep the room key with you otherwise you cannot get in.
I paid CHF150 including continental breakfast tax is added to your bill.Â
Breakfast is served from 07:00am in the basement a cosy decorated room.
Fruit juices not fresh a poor variety of fruits milk cereals two types of bread brown and white excellent coffee tea a couple of commercial cheese cold hard boiled eggs ham yoghurt butter home made jams and honey. I think I saw some sweet pie that was covered that no one bothered to remove. No croissant nor brioche.
The second morning I did not have breakfast as I had to catch the 05:20 train to Geneva airport. I used the back door and left the key  in the room.
I had lunch on the terrace which was good and reasonably priced and later had a drink early evening.Â
Centrally located one is within walking distance to the Lake old part of town bus stops train station banks post office restaurants shops Museums etc.
I would definitely return to L'hostellerie de Genève for a night or two.
Last but not least all the staff were very polite cheerful and pleasant. I had to print my boarding pass which was done immediately at no charge
The personnel was correct and the hotel is well placed in the Place du Marche, but I wouldn't have gone if known the quality of rooms.
The breakfast was also not good, very limited choice, even not a single croissant!
Not recommended.
We had a 'suite’ number 17 that looked out on the place du marche. The double glazing was good as the parties went on sometimes until 4am. The curtains are a bit thin so bring eyeshades if you need them.
Putting the price to one side the room was adequate with some seating space and a small but usable shower (no bath).
The restaurant downstairs did an average breakfast but you would do better going next door to the patisserie.
Dinner on the other hand was better than I expected with a good rognon de veau. They needed far more staff than they has as the service was slow but given the hundreds of customers they did a good job.
Very friendly staff and were it not for the fetes they would have scored higher.
Well worth a stay when it isn't so crazy.
Rooms decoration are alold, poorly illuminated. They are depressing. Toilette is very small.
Breakfasf is poor. It takes 10 min to get a coffee.
