The old town Gruyere is a must to visit for cheese lovers especially. We made a stop by while returning to Crans. In the old town we had a table at the terrace of Hotel de Ville. We ordered one cheese fondue and one raclette. Delicieux. Good service, great cheese and very reasonable prices

We didn't stay at the hotel but ate a very nice lunch in its restaurant. They have different specialties of the region and the "croute aux chanterelles" that we ate was simply delicious. Only negative point was that the waitress, who was very pleasant and helpful, was alone to serve far too many tables so it was a bit slow.

We didn't stay at the hotel, only ate at the restaurant. Waited a very long time (yes, long even for European standards). We ordered the fondue for 4 people. It was OK, but SUPER expensive. We didn't realize how much, so my friend polietly asked about it. The menu wasn't clear about the pricing per person. About 20 minutes later,...

Needed a hotel for one night to properly see Gruyere. It is really hard to find the reception. You have a feeling that you are not at the right place. I booked a standard room. It is a very small room, but that made it more cozy. I really like the wood decor inside. Pillows are incredibly thin, but that...

We didn't stay at the hotel, we only ate at their restaurant. And we would definitely recommend it! The fondue was really good - as a fondue-loving Swiss I already had a lot of different fondues and this one was for sure top league! The raclette was tasty as well, but has a rather unique, distinctive taste; so if it's...

Brought some visitors to visit the Greyure region. Stop at the hotel restaurant for coffee around 5pm. Waited 20mins to be served. Cappuccino came cold and without any milk. Lucky no Italians around. Eventually we had our hybrid Cap changed to normal coffee. Waited another 10 mins. Coffee was normal, the only positive point. I must say the waitress did...

We stopped there for lunch on our Chocolate train tour. The lunch is not included in the Chocolate train package. There are many restaurants to choose from in the short walk to the Gruyere castle. We chose the Hotel de Ville and it was a good choice. Service was good and the food was awesome We had the local recommended...

Gruyeres is a bit of an exotic destination. One needs to get there to appreciate its secluded beauty. Yes, it's mostly for tourists, but it is definitely worth a visit. Medieval castle, where you are left to wonder and explore on your own, a few small rustic restaurants, small shops along the cobblestone streets. Mountain views over alpine meadows are...

We had a very nice stay at the hotel. The room was very clean and cosy with view on the village. Both the owner and staff were very helpful and friendly. We had dinner which was well cooked. Also the breakfast was very tasty and big.

“Book early. There are few places to stay in Gruyere. It's a very small village. Also, parking can be an issue and you'll likely want the lot close to the village entrance, so be patient, it's crowded.”
