First, I didn't have the opportunity to stay here, but stayed in town and hiked up to the castle to look around. The bathrooms were so unique and the castle itself was amazing... worth the trip! Hope to go back and stay some day...

We stayed at Schloss Rheinfels in late September. I'd booked our room online and chose the option where a 4-course dinner was included. I had noted that I'm pescatarian (vegetarian + seafood) when I made the reservation. When we arrived, we were welcomed kindly (despite our lack of German - Google Translate was a big help) and they'd created and... More

Charming little hotel... Some of the rooms(mine) did not have elevator access,, Food was good, view is fantastic. Very small (single) room, but comfortable. Be sure to try to book a river view room. Mine did not have the view, and the window was tiny, but it was still lovely. A few looks of discontent from the staff when I... More

This hotel is set in a fantastic location with breathtaking views over the River Rhein. However if you want a dinner table with a view then book ahead is a requirement. The standard rooms are not particularly big and the ensuite is even smaller with a shower (no bath). Food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast and actually reasonably priced.... More

There are 65 total rooms in this pet friendly hotel; 30 in the main building, 30 in the villa Rheinfels and 5 apartments. In order to get to the reception where you check in you have to climb 21 steps up. It didn't start off well with an older dated style room (Villa Rheinfels Room 152) that was large with... More

The hotel presents itself as something special and "romantic". The setting is certainly very special with a dramatic view looking down on the town, along the Rhine, and next to an impressive ruined castle. We were in the main part of the hotel (rooms 201 - 248), the older more traditional space. Our room was a fairly standard relatively spacious,... More

The castle sits on a hill over-looking the Rhine river. The views, from the patio in our room, were amazing. Each night we sat out watching the river as the sun set and the stars came out. Breakfast was pretty standard but the multi course dinners were excellent. We came for relaxation and found it.

After reading prior reviews of this hotel, I was a little wary. I booked anyway since we wanted a leisurely drive up the Rhein, and this place fit our itinerary. I am so glad we did! The service was outstanding---young man followed us all the way to the parking lot to get our bags, and literally refused our help to get... More

From check in to departure the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The rooms were well appointed, clean and spacious with lovely rhine views. Always something to watch. The food was excellent with a good choice for dinner and lots of variety at breakfast. Go early for breakfast to get a window seat. Good location for the Rhine... More

This very attractively sited hotel with splendid views of the Rhine has much going for it. The Reception Staff are welcoming and helpful and the, largely, young waiting staff are cheerful and attentive. Rooms are well provided, clean and spacious with good balconies from which to watch the constant traffic on the Rhine. The Dining Room provided good, though not... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nowhere in the world you can find an area with as many castles, steep vineyard slopes and narrow alleys with half-timbered houses as in the valley of the Loreley (UNESCO world heritage site). Embedded into this beautiful landscape and located on the Rhine heights opposite the legendary "Loreleyfelsen" (rock of Loreley) is the Romantik Hotel Schloss Rheinfels. The hotel is part of the castle Rheinfels, the largest fortress ruin on the central Rhine. All 63 rooms, suites and apartments are located in the Schloss Rheinfels, the Villa Rheinfels and the apartment house at Gut Rheinfels. The four-star-superior-hotel offers a rustic restaurant with a large terrace overlooking the River Rhine, an elegant castle restaurant with winter garden, an exquisite fine-dining-restaurant as well as two bars and a Wellness & Spa area with saunas, indoor swimming pool, massage and beauty centre. The rooms and suites range between 24 to 38 square metres, the apartments have 75 square metres. All rooms are non-smoking and equipped with telephone, high-speed-internet-access, mini bar and safe. Wireless LAN is available at the conference centre. The castle was restored with the most modern equipment while keeping the preservation of the medieval surrounding in mind. A special atmosphere is created by exquisite antiques, stylish paintings, noble materials and details, warm and bright colours. The area offers plenty opportunities like hiking, play golf, taking a cruise on the River Rhine or visit the many castles, little villages and vineyards.
