My fiance and I stayed here back in January, so must apologise for the late review. What an absolutely amazing place to visit!! The staff were fantastic and although our German extremely limited, they went out of their way and beyond to help us. Food was fabulous!! Will definately be returning

I chose this hotel based on location, it's looking out over the railway station and yards. I was delighted to find the staff welcoming ( poor Tommy had to put up with many many questions) and the food excellent (with one exception - avoid the goulash). Loved the beer by train delivery as did the junior visitors. I had two...

Stayed at Hotel Altora a few days before Christmas. Clean rooms, really professional staff, good breakfast and dinner. Easy walk to train and bus station, and to all the town's sites. Would definitely stay there again if we return.

I came here not knowing what to expect other than "just another hotel". This is anything but. We had a room overlooking the station where we could watch the steam trains going in and out. The restaurant food is great but have a healthy appetite. All very clean and the staff very friendly and welcoming. I will be back

We stayed here in Oct 2016 - this would be one of the nicest family run hotels we have stayed at. From the time of our arrival to our departure nothing was a problem - the staff took time to get to know us and chat to us - about our trip in Germany and Australia. We booked a room...

A well appointed hotel with a few added attractions. Certain tables in the dining room are served by the drinks arriving on a model railway reflecting the Harzbahn which operates extensively from the town. This is complemented by another model railwaywhich operates in the ceiling, but neither are obtrusive to the diner. A very varied menu and the staff proved...

눉 Negative points: The latest you could order a meal for was 8.00 pm The bar closed at 10.pm Morning staff sullen Don't take rolls out of the dining room - they will charge you 6 euros! The old town was deserted in the evenings - I thought that the zombie holocaust had started! 눇 Plus points: Proximity to the...

Ideal for the railway enthusiast and a nice comfortable hotel too with large tastefully decorated rooms. The experience of having the beer delivered to the table by train including sound effects was the best bit. The restaurant food was very good and we had no problems getting a table even on a Saturday night. Great breakfast buffet to set us...

Excellent place for rail fans. Constant activity from our window with trains coming and going all the time. The English speaking staff were very helpful and the breakfasts and evening meals were first class. Parking at the hotel can be tricky at busy times; space is limited. Overall, a very pleasant experience which I may well repeat in the future.

We wanted to visit the Harz and Wernigerode seemed an ideal base. This hotel is first class and appears to be run by a railway enthusiast - old railway posters feature large in this hotel . The hotel is clean and well decorated, the staff friendly and helpful, and on checking in we were presented with a book of vouchers...
