The 3 bedroom apartment we rented was clean , spacious , modern and very well equipped with all appliances you’d need for a self catering holiday.
We had ample outside space with a private pool, outside dining area and a large decking area too.
The complex itself was very well kept , always clean and tidy . We found the Reception staff to be helpful and accommodating.
The communal pool area was fairly small but adequate for the size of the complex . We didn’t use either the gym or indoor pool area but again both were well maintained and adequate size for the complex.
We had no problems using the security gate . There is ample parking just outside the gate if not using the private underground car park.
Mar da Luz is situated in a quiet area between Luz and Burgau , we drove to Luz for supplies , there are 2 supermarkets in Luz : Baptista and Spar. We found Baptista really handy , not the cheapest , but a good choice of local and international foods. The bakery, butcher , fruit and deli counters offer a good variety of fresh quality produce. While there we often grabbed a coffee and pastry from the cafe and sat outside while having them .
Luz and Burgau are both walkable from Mar da Luz , approx 35 mins . google maps is good to find the paths and roads to reach Luz or just using the coastal path in either direction. The paths can be a little rough to walk on where not paved but we managed fine with just sandals. The views are fabulous .
Either can also be reached by walking up onto the main road too.
Along the main road heading into Luz there are a couple of restaurants within 5-10 minute walk. Tomik and Lubelia.
We found Luz to be a small town , with plenty of restaurants but quickly realised it was easier to book ahead to get a table . We found Dolphin, YOLO and Boatys all to serve great food with good service too.
Tomik was nearby , it was good but a more casual menu .
Burgau is smaller , but still has a few choices . Burgau Beach Bar is particularly popular and you will need to make a reservation in advance if wanting to eat there on an evening .
For a livelier day or night with far more choice Lagos is a further 10 minute drive away
We got taxis back from Luz on an evening for just a few euros , there is a taxi rank near the church but restaurants are happy to call one for you too.
Would recommend a stay at Mar da Luz

We stayed in the apartment for a long weekend. The apartment was very clean and had everything that we needed. We ate on the terrace in the mornings and evenings. Frederica couldn’t have been more helpful - arranged our transfers and offered suggestions for places to eat and to visit. The walks along the coast were stunning. We would definitely go back again.

Beautiful apartment on a well maintained complex. Spent a week here a group of 5 and had plenty of room. Unfortunately they had a fire in the sauna so we couldn't use the spa facilities whilst there but it was beyond anyone's control.
It's a bit of a trek into Luz even using the coastal path it's a good 40 minutes over rough ground. We walked once but got taxis after that as looked like I'd been dragged through a hedge by the time we got to town. Get a taxi around €10 each way.
Nice and quite very relaxing really enjoyed our stay.

For families with young children, please read this. We are a couple with a 3 year old boy. To be honest, we should have thought twice about staying after emailing them about how to get in after business hours. Only to be told we had allready been sent an email. (was caught in spam). We arrived around 10pm and struggled to find the place as there are no signs to tell us we are at Mar Da Luz. We found a couple who arrived an hour earlier. And told us we had arrived at the correct place. We then put the key code entry and the gate opened. My partner stayed in the car at this point while i tried to locate our apartment. Again, nothing sign posted. Finally found the apartment and picked up the key which was left in the cupboard next to the front door, then came back to the car to pick up my partner our baby and luggage. This is where it went downhill.. My partner carrying our allready asleep 3 year old, and me with half of the luggage walked back into the complex. We looked around the apartment and found none of the bedding was laid out. Was still stuffed in the cupboards. And the back patio doors did not lock!! This was a concern! I went back downstairs to get the rest of the luggage and tried to get back into the complex using the same pin..but the gates would not open. My partner upstairs in the apartment with our 3 year old and i am stuck outside the gate. I had called her to run downstairs to push the button from inside to see if this would work..but it didnt and she ran back to the apartment to be with our sun. I then had to call the emergancy contact who was less than mildly interested in our situation, asking me if i was sure i entered the key correctly and asking me to get someone to open it from the inside. I told him none of these options worked. To which he replied..jump over the gate! The gate is 6 foot tall. I had told him someone needs to fix this but he said no one was close enough and would be about an hour. I had to jump over this fence..grazing my leg in the process ruining my shorts and went down the bin alleyway to open the side door!! I can only imagine how bad it would have been had my partner was stuck outside with me and the 3 year old in bed. We have explained the situation to the director here who has done absolutly nothing about this. However. The back door has now been fixed. But the attitude has been disgusting. We will not be coming back!

Stayed there for a second time and just as my first experience I absolutely loved it!
Nice and quiet location, outdoor and indoor pool, south facing balcony large enough to party and a walking distance to the ocean.
Great apartment with everything you need for a short stay.
Highly recommend it again.

We had Apartment 122. No plunge pool, but we did have a rooftop hot tub. Completely private and not overlooked.
This is a great place if you want something close to Praia Da Luz and Burgau (both within walking distance) but quiet and away from hustle.
The complex had three pools, one is inside with a jacuzzi and heated so you can swim whatever the weather. It also has a gym, steam room and sauna. You can book spa treatments on site too.
We loved it here. It felt special. We will be back.
