This was the first hostel we stayed in during our 5 week trip up the east coast and it set the bar quite high. The location is amazing being directly on the beachfront of Bondi and very close to shops, cafes, restaurants and having a bar directly below the hostel. The rooms themselves are pretty basic (prison-like) but have electrical outlets at each bed and lockers for each person. This sounds like the bare minimum but a lot of hostels do not have these essentials! The bathroom facilities are shared for each floor and are relatively clean but there could have been more of them. The kitchen is nice and tidy with all appropriate kitchen cutlery and appliances, however slightly on the small side for such a big hostel. There are quite a few free events in the hostel which is great but socially I found this hostel harder to meet new people than a lot of others. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay and even remembered my name every time I came across them! Overall I would definitely stay here again :-)

Very enjoyable hostel as a solo traveller. I stayed 11 nights and could have easily stayed more. The hostel has lots of events which makes it very easy to meet other travellers. There is also a bar located next door that has good deals for hostel stayers. Only 1 minute walk from the beach and you can easily visit other beached such as Bronte, Coogee which are within walking distance. Only slight downside is that it's about a 25 minute public transport into the city via trains and buses.

Location was perfect, right across from Bondi Beach. Rooms were clean and spacious and kitchen was good. Rooftop was amazing for hanging out. Staff were nice and helpful. Had a safe area to store my surfboard and bags before check in/ after check out. There is no parking at the location however paid parking or free all day parking approx 1km away is available.

The hostel has daily activities on offer and friendly members of staff running them. The best thing about this hostel in my opinion is the location being right on the front and a minutes walk to the beach and a 5-10 minute walk to Bondi icebergs. The rooftop provides a stunning view of Bondi beach.
In the rooms are lockers which are always needed. Each bunk has a light and area for plugs and USB. Free WiFi is offered here.
The bathroom for ladies on my floor had 4 showers (fine) but only two toilets for the entire floor. At certain times of the day, 2 toilets was not enough. Within the showers there is a hook but no shelf for your belongings. One shower in particular had a basket hanging from the door which was broken and almost useless. A shelf above one of the sinks collapsed as someone put small items on it. I believe the hostel should invest in better shower facilities.
Overall I enjoyed my stay here and would recommend to those traveling to book into wake up Bondi :)

I stayed in Bondi for 2 months and had time to try 2-3 other hostels. Wake Up! Is by far the best around! The key differentiators for me: most friendly staff, actually working WiFi (unlimited, good bandwidth allowing HD Netflix as opposed to other hostels), free hire surfboards, cleanliness (rooms and kitchen), best rooftop, best location (litterally facing the beach) ... I stayed there for several weeks and I would definitely recommend it!

Plenty of fun social activities to choose from, great way to meet other backpackers. Cosy sea view room. Kitchen could be bigger and extra dining space due to the size of the hostel. It could also do with another laundry room as there was only one dryer working during our stay. Some guests didn’t know how to clean up after themselves so felt bad for the staff having to do it. Super friendly and helpful staff. Great location right on bondi beach with lots of eateries and things to do around. Gorgeous rooftop terrace and common room area

Steps away from the crashing waves of bondi beach you’ll find this lovely home away from home. Staff were amazing. So welcoming and helpful. With a grocery nearby and a kitchen this well equipped, all of our food needs were met. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and the beds and bedding were comfortable. The roof top deck was a great spot to watch the sunset. This hostel also has perks - free Sunday pancakes, free drink at the bar next door and others as well. Make sure you stop next door at the bar at Hotel Ravesis for great live music!

I’ve stayed in a lot of hostels over the years and honestly this is by far the best one of them all.. it’s super clean everyone is so friendly all the staff make you feel at home especially if you’re new to travelling, it sits directly in front of the beach, you can rent surfboards free of charge which is amazing !! Activity’s everyday like wine & cheese nights also bbq’s, over the last few months it’s been off due to the covid 19 but it’s slowly coming back which is brilliant, I’ve been here for a few months now and I really couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else, if you need any help with anything you can bet that the staff and the manager of the hostel will always be there for you with what ever you need.
If you’re looking for a sociable and affordable clean hostel this is the place!!!

Hi there. Thanks for your review and for the perfect rating. It certainly sounds like you have had a great time with us and even given the current situation I am glad you have made the most of it and had an absolute time with us. No better time and no better place to take advantage of our free surfboard hire to learn a new lock down skill. Thanks again Management

I would definitely recommend this hostel to everyone who is looking for a hostel around Sydney/Bondi. It is clean, next to the beach and most important: very social. There are a lot of events where you can easily meet new people, and the staff really do their best to make the events nice for everyone! I came here as a solo traveller but didn’t feel alone at all.

I’ve stayed in a lot of hostels over the years while I’ve been travelling around but by far this hostel is the cleanest and also the most friendliest hostel there is on the map !
Fabulous location right infront of the beach, you have free surf board hire and activity’s just incase you have some spare time while you staying here.
Everyone is so so helpful especially a lovely young lad called Coen who’s working on reception, so polite and helpful!! I’ve had quite a few friends recommend me to stay at this hostel and have also heard quite a few people say about how much of a legend Coen on the front desk is And trust me when I say this, they are not lying!
If you have any doubts on staying here, just don’t.. it’s brilliant!

Hi from what I remember there is only street parking outside Bondi Backpackers, I’m not to sure where else you can park and if it’s free as I’ve only just started learning how to drive this year so I got airport shuttle to the accommodation.
If you message them on Facebook they will be able to help you a lot better.
Hi there,
It is actually still quite chilly as summer is not quite here yet. Not to worry though as we have nice doonas to keep you warm at night.
Cheers D
