The challenges of hosting a family of twelve, across three generations, were met superbly by the hosts and their amazing chalet. We chose Ferme du Ciel because it offered excellent communal space for large parties and we weren't disappointed. It is spacious and decorated in contemporary style and makes you feel at home and special at the same time. Loved it and had a great time.

Great company, many laughs and, by the sound of it, we did you all proud! We have just returned from a week with our family of 7 adults and 5 children. It was possibly the most important week of the year, what with it being Christmas, and we unanimously agree that we couldn’t have had a better holiday.

Andre and Su went to extraordinary lengths before we arrived to ensure we were catered for and prepared our mixed ability group of skiers for our week on the slopes and that our 1 non skier was going to enjoy herself as much as the skiers.

Everything was very well explained to us and the attention to the details that can make or break a family holiday were more than covered.

Once we arrived, the hospitality continued and we had a truly fantastic ‘holiday’ in every sense of the word.

The chalet is beautiful, comfortable and happily absorbed our group. We benefitted enormously not only from Su and Andrew’s considerable experience and customer service but also from their understanding of what our group needed.

We can’t recommend the chalet, the hosts or the resort highly enough. If you are lucky enough to be planning your holiday with them, we know you will have a wonderful time. Sincere thank you from us all and wishing the team at Ferme du Ciel and very Happy and Prosperous New Year.

From the moment we arrived, Alex and Lucie made us feel so welcome and so comfortable in their gorgeous chalet. Nothing was too much trouble and the lifts to and from the Gondola each day were very much appreciated, especially when we got a bit lost and dragged poor Alex all over the Grand Massif. The chalet itself is very comfortable and felt like a home from home. The hot tub and sauna were ready and waiting each evening along with Lucie's gorgeous cakes and cookies (Thank God skiing is an active holiday to work off some of the calories). Our ski's were delivered the day we arrived by Becky and Jonathon of Ski Hire Samoens and they were a pleasure to deal with.
All in all, our group of 5 really enjoyed our ski trip in Samoens and will definitely be recommending Ferme du Ciel to friends and family without hesitation.
Thanks Alex & Lucie and we look forward to the next time!

We cannot thank Lucie and Alex enough for making our special day extraordinary.
From the first zoom meeting we had, they were passionate, dedicated and friendly.
They helped us every step of the way, coming up with details we haven't thought about and finding local suppliers for flowers, wines, ...
On the wedding day, they ensured that everything was going smoothly.
Attentive and discreet, they had the perfect balance to make sure every guest was catered for.
The chalet itself was immaculate and the view spectacular. We particularly enjoyed the living room and its impressive fireplace.
Watch out for Lucie's moreish brownies.

This chalet has EVERYTHING and MORE! All necessities and extra gadgets that you didn’t realise you needed for a fun time. The owners are absolute gems, so caring, passionate, genuine. They just want their guests to have a great time, and our group of 16 had an AMAZING time - cooking in the grand kitchen, enjoying the jacuzzi and sauna, sitting around the fireplace, drinking coffee on the balcony, looking up at the stars from the bath tub. This place is just unreal. We will be back again and again ❤️

We are a family of 6 who took sole occupancy with 2 other families. The chalet itself is beautiful but unfortuntly that is where the good stuff ends.
The food was very average, but they then servered Beef Bourgione to us on the 1st night which was good for the Non Veggies in the party but not for the 2 adults and 3 children that were. They had to make do with Mash potato and beans..and yes they had been made aware of dietry requirements.
Andy the owner is in the wrong business. He wanted us out in the mornings to suit him as he wanted to go skiing and the loaction means without a care you are totally reliant on him. He threantened to leave us behind if we were not out by 9.15 when we were paying for sole occupancy.
He would hide the Xbox controllers from the kids so they couldnt use it in the day time as our young kids did not want to ski all day every day and wanted to hang out a bit...which Andy did not like.
He was miserable, coughing blood, spitting and smoking everywhere. The guy could nt have been more rude and moronic and almost ruined the holiday single handedly. Oh..one of our party got seriously ill while away and had to go to hospital, and he charged her husband £50 for a lift to the hospital, u can understand charging for fuel but £50!!
If you like taking risks with your hard earnt money then please stay here, otherwise play it safe and avoid like the plague and find some proffesonal chalet hosts that enjoy dealing with people. Look at their web site and it admits that athey were new to the game...a game they are not equiped to succeed in.

We recently stayed a weekend at Ferme du Ciel mid-November 2011. Coming in the low season may allow you to benefit from a lower price but your offering and services provided are also reduced accordingly.

There is a long hallway leading from the entrance to a beautiful stairway into the Lounge. A separate rented apartment as well as the owners' apartment are accessed off of this hallway. Even if you do rent all the guest rooms you still may not feel like you 'have the place to yourselves' as the stairway is very open. There are 6 guest rooms in the chalet: 5 upstairs and 1 on the main floor with the Lounge. One of the rooms has a mezzanine with steep stairs accessing 2 single beds in a tight area probably not appropriate for young children. I would only recommend renting the chalet as an intimate group as the rooms are not as insulated from light and sound as one would expect if you were to rent an individual room in a hotel.

We actually did rent all the guest rooms for our group on a half-board basis, alcohol being extra. We were extremely let down at the first evening meal. The table wasn't dressed, no napkins and yes, even in France, no bread... After being served a lovely entree, we awaited anxiously for our main course (and the bread) to discover that that WAS the main course, there would be no bread, and our apple pie was coming. After expressing our discontent, we did enjoy our next evening meal. A soup course was added as well as cheese at the end...and bread! But then we were actually told that our price did not merit this treatment.

Gripes:
-There is a 'guest' parking area where guests enter the chalet but we were unable to park our 3 cars without blocking in one of them.
-The chalet hadn't been cleaned for weeks. There were dead flies everywhere and a considerable blanket of dust under the furniture.
-We were told not to flip through the songs on the central stereo system. Again, we rented all the rooms.
-If you are a light sleeper, avoid the upstairs room with the boiler vent. The person staying in this room did not sleep well because it would go on/off all night.
-We had Ferme du Ciel book a 5-6 massages and facials for us. Upon arrival we indicated that we had one massage booked too many and were met with harsh words regarding the possibility of canceling as they had gone out of their way to book them for us. Luckily the masseuse was very nice and had no problem doing one less massage during the weekend.
-The jacuzzi was emptied early in the morning on our last day without our knowledge, such a disappointment when we were all looking forward to having a last splash!
-We learned at the end that they would not accept our credit cards (we were told that our email invoice did say 'cash'). When we pressed more to use our cards, we were then told that the machine was broken (sure). Several people had to drive 10 minutes to the village cash machine and come back.

Pluses:
-The chalet is beautiful. The couches are inviting, a couple UK gossip magazines to leaf through, tea & coffee to help yourself to.
-Lovely breakfasts - although not enough eggs used for the scrambled eggs, we each only had a little spoonful.
-Delicious afternoon cakes for tea-time.

Clients expect to be appreciated for the business they bring. We'll be looking for another chalet to spend our money low OR high season.

Wow! Where to start? I guess our immediate reaction is horror and sadness. We can defend all the points of course, but we think the most important thing for readers is to consider the weight of all the other highly positive reviews, and come to a view on the overall impression you receive. What we can say is that the person who wrote the review came on a yoga break out of season, on a package that was clearly described. We gave them complimentary wine, and allowed them to stay well beyond the times they had booked and paid for, in the intention of building goodwill!! Regards payment; we normally take it 10 weeks in advance, but as they kept changing their arrangements up to the last minute, we asked them to pay cash when they arrived. Regards the food; we had been asked after an earlier yoga weekend to provide lighter meals for yoga groups, and therefore this is what we did. However, we found there were some Americans in this group who were used to large portions, so hence we provided extra courses on the second night. I could go on, but it’s probably not helpful……We'll just add one final comment, which is that as the group were leaving the organiser said they would like to come back again in a few months! Frustratingly although we go out of our way to do everything we can to give people a fabulous holiday, you can’t please everyone all the time. We are happy to chat through this comment or any other with any reader, or put them in touch with current guests to understand their experience of Ferme du Ciel and the hospitality we offer.

Five of us friends have just returned from a week's skiing in Samoens. The chalet is gorgeous, converted with great flair from a traditional farmhouse and barn into luxury accommodation with nothing missed out, and everything is well thought out and stylish, from the designer lighting to the glass fronted woodburning fire in the centre of the main triple-height living space. We were catered for by two exceptional people - Avril and Liam - who cooked imaginatively and well, and who were always smiling, thoughtful and helpful.

The holiday for me was spoilt by two things: firstly the all-pervasive music piped through the living and dining areas, often very loudly, and requests to turn it off or down were not treated seriously. This made mealtimes particularly less than relaxing and enjoyable, when conversation was made difficult by the dominating loud pop music or Radio 2 reminding us of traffic jams on the M25 at breakfast. The second thing was the varying moods of one of the chalet owners who ferried us to and from the slopes every day, leaving us unsure how he would be each day. He was often silent, almost taciturn, and on the last night was unacceptably rude to two of us over the choice of music. I feel he would benefit from a course in customer relations.

We are devastated by this review as you will see from all the others how passionately we care about giving all of our clients exceptional service, and that we succeed the majority of the time. However, sadly we are human and on this occasion we obviously didn't get it right. We will learn from this and continue our ongoing challenge to just get better and better! One lesson we have taken from this is to endeavour to manage peoples expectations better, so that when sharing a chalet with other groups, they understand that we try to find a middle ground that keeps everyone content. This is notoriously difficult with music tastes of course. However, we want all our guests to be happy, so when some are in bed, we are sadly unable to allow others to have music on at full volume. We need to find a better way of helping them understand this in advance, so they do not get frustrated in the moment. Signed by one very sad owner.

A truly beautiful chalet. However, I agree with some of the other comments - the portion size with the meals was far too small, although the quality was good - we were both still very hungry after dinner. There was also a strange rationing thing going on with the wine - we were very unsure what was actually included in the price. It would have been good if that could be more clear, and perhaps some kind of honesty bar in place.
We went on a weekend when they had both yoga people and non-yoga people and this really didn't work - the non-yoga people were forced to be quiet as the yoga people were doing yoga in the living room - this did not work for either group.

Be aware as well that it's a good half hour walk from the village and taxis are not easy to find, so if you don't have a car this could be a problem.

We are very sad to see this. Sadly we had no idea that these guests were not happy, or we would immediately have rectified any concerns and clarified things where necessary. 6 months after the event, it is hard to do for them, although we will act on these concerns for future guests. If anyone books when there is a yoga group on, we will explain the situation, and we will offer seconds for those with larger appetites! Where wine is not included as part of the package, we will be clear about when we offer it as a goodwill gesture, that this is what it is. We keep learning!
