We’ve just completed our stay at the Hotel Chamois d’or.

From the start we were warmly welcomed by the staff who came out to greet us at the car when we arrived.

We had a family room where the kids had their own room with en-suite and bunk beds. Our bathroom had a bath.

The bedding is sumptuous and we also had a sunny balcony.

We stayed half board and the evening five course meal was always stunning!

It is a ski out, ski in hotel right at the start of the piste closest to the les Jeux and DMC lifts. Easy to use ski room although the boot warmers weren’t working.

Also a gorgeous swimming pool with steam room and sauna.

We’ll definitely visit again!

Thank you to all the staff :)

Took my two sons for a week ski trip. The service from all the friendly staff was extremely good. Genuine caring people who really went the extra mile to make it special. The spa offers exactly what you need, massage, jacuzzi, sauna, steam and pool with fluffy robes and slippers. The lounge is a lovely dimly lit area with huge comfy sofas and large open fireplace. Location is perfect right at the bottom of the main DMC1 ski lift with ski-in right to the ski lockers. Every little detail has been thought through by people who care. Best hotel and people in Alpes D’Huez in my opinion. Highly recommended.

I booked as a last minute booking whilst on a driving trip with my 10 year old son, and had the pleasure of staying 2 nights. Fantastic location beside a variety of ski slopes and scenic mountain views. Although we don’t ski, we had great fun on hired sledges. The rooms were cosy, clean and well decorated. There’s a relaxing spa with pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room (had a lovely massage!). The evening food choices in the restaurant were limited but tasted great (we liked the entrecôte steak); not sure why some reviewers grumbled about the food? Breakfast had a small but satisfactory selection. Best of all, the service from all staff members was great, every one went the extra mile to make us feel welcome. We look forward to visiting again!

We were here for tomorrowland and happy we picked this hotel. It was really nice and next to the lifts, we could ski in and ski out. The sauna was perfect after skiing, it was free and you dont need reservations. The staff, service and breakfast were perfect. Theres even private hotel parking so you dont have to worry about finding parking. We will pick it again for next year.

We visited this hotel 8 years ago. It was a nice hotel with good service and food. We decided to stay again March 2024. But this time we experienced alot changed. Inexperienced and lazy staff, limited food at the restaurant, average service according to a 5 star hotel. Any 3 star hotel can easily provide the same service which this hotel provided.

After completing La Marmotte, two friends and I were stuck in Alpe D'Huez having returned our bikes and having parked our rental car in Bourg D'Oisans earlier that morning. We tried in vain to entice the local (lazy) taxi drivers to take a fare to Bourg.

We stumbled across Hotel le Chamois in an attempt to get warm. The staff we really friendly and accommodating and a really nice English lady (Rachel iirc) offered to drive us down the mountain to our rental car for the equivalent of what a taxi fare would cost.

If the staff are this accommodating to non-guests I can only imagine the standard of service those staying in the hotel receive. I really hope to return to Alpe D'Huez and Hotel le Chamois in the near future (but not after cycling 174km and climbing 5,200 metres).

Myself and my wife had a fantastic 3 night stay at the Chamois D'Or whilst I was participating in a cycle event in the area.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We arrived late but I had already received an email from the owner asking when we hoped to arrive so they could have us some dinner ready as the kitchen was closing. We were greeted by a feast of local produce and a lovely glass of wine recommended by the amazing Julien who never stopped smiling despite running around making sure everyone was having a great time what seemed like 24 hours a day!
The room we had was great with stunning views of the Alps. Breakfasts were bountiful and all fresh produce with bread that only the French can make!
The spa was also excellent for a post ride massage on the saturday.

Overall nothing was too much trouble for Thibault and his excellent team (special mention to Julien and Caroline) and we are looking forward to returning again soon.

Alex and Jayne Jones

Wonderful hotel in the perfect location - so close to the main lift and ski school. The decor is delightful and the place has the feel of a well loved, family chalet. All the staff were excellent - none of that aloofness that the French have a reputation for. The spa was a welcome saviour after the day's skiing. Food was delicious. The clientele were international and there were a mixture of couples and (well behaved) families enjoying the hotel. Our only (mild) complaint was the lack of a shower (rather than a mixer tap with no curtain/screen).
