Wonderful friendly helpful staff. The staff is at least fully bilingual if not multilingual and not hestitant at all to speak English. We had a comfortable relatively spacious room but for the price of a budget hotel like Ibis or Premiere Class. We ate breakfast for about 4 euros and since my autistic daughter is on a special diet I purchased something for her from the nearby Carrefoure supermarket and the staff allowed us to feed her her food in the breakfast room while the rest of us ate the hotel's breakfast. The staff was also informative. Truly pleasant, honest, and joy filled people. We ended up in Tarbes because another hotel in Lourdes did not honor our confirmation from hotels.com and there were no rooms to be found in Lourdes. Ultimately we were actually happy about having to go to Tarbes because Lourdes at Pentecost was actully very busy and crowded. It was actually nice to come back to the relative quiet of Tarbes at night and find parking either in front of the hotel or inside the hotel's locked courtyard. Yes, the drive was about 20 minutes but we were happy in the end to stay in Tarbes. This was also the first French hotel that we went to that the maids honored the do not disturb sign. In other French hotels we hung the signs on the door knob but the maid came in and cleaned anyway.…
I just spent a week there while visiting from NYC. The hotel is in the heart of the city and the owners were wonderful. They were super welcoming and warm, and recommended a bunch of places and restaurants to check out while I was in town. They prepared the breakfast which made it feel very much like a bed&breakfast. The room was clean and very comfortable. Highly recommend! I'll be back!
The hotel is just off a main square that has restaurants around it. The room was spartan but clean. We found it stuffy even in October and think there may not be air conditioning, so be aware in summer. We parked overnight for free, right across the street. The very friendly, helpful owners put on a nice breakfast and gave us directions to the lovely Jardin de Massey, a city park half a mile away.
A great little stop over while between campsites. Located in the heart of the city next to Les Halles - where there was an art, craft and food fair (where I had an excellent 3 course menu) with free and secure parking round the back - just what we were looking for and good price too (approx £50) for ensuite twin room. Beds were comfy and showers hit. Very kind and helpful receptionist let us check in early on a wet Sunday (only discovered Sunday check in as 6-9pm after I'd booked it) However we checked in at 3pm as there was someone on reception thankfully. Don't be put off by the look of the hotel, you'll see what I mean when you are outside the front of it!
Room perfectly adequate and also had a nice breakfast. No complaints at all. So why only four stars? It is not a luxury hotel, so don't expect that. The architectural style is modern and is not really to my taste but I admire their willingness to make a statement. Coming back to the title, the welcome and service has all the charm of an old fashioned family inn so I am not surprised that people who have written some of the other reviews say they have come back time and time again. Well done!
