A good enough place to stay over night or two. We were there 4. The staff especially Bobby the manager were very friendly he seemed to work all hours doing everything. His young side kick James good as well. Breakfast was well cooked and plentiful. Steak night good value. The building itself very tired needs money spent on it. But...

This was ok for 1 night but not as cosy or quaint as I had expected. The bed room was clean, good quality bed linen and towels. It had a step in bath and you had to try and balance the hot-cold water to get the right shower temperature. It would have been helpful if shower gel was provided. The...

Good value hotel in ideal location to visit surrounding towns and Rutland Water. Clean room and despite being on the main busy road, room was quiet. Ate in restaurant for evening steak meal and breakfast, both were faultless. Very attentive staff. The only thing I would possibly change is the bed which was a bit wobbly.

This was a valentine treat for me. Plenty of car parking spaces, the place looked quaint from the outside. We were greeted at the reception by the Scottish manager who was very attentive and helpful. Our room was downstairs, room was a little tired although very clean, tv, kettle, free wi-fi, the bathroom has had a makeover and looked really...

Nice quaint establishment with friendly staff who are only to happy to help you. Fair sized eating area for the restaurant with meals cooked to order, well presented and tasty. There is also a car park at the rear which is ideal as the Old Pheasant is on the A47. Although we didn't stay overnight here as they were fully...

We celebrated a big family birthday at The Old Pheasant. Our group comprised ten of us from three generations including 2 kids (aged 10 & 12) and, potentially, 4 dogs. We needed: 1 family room, 2 dog-friendly rooms & 1 'normal' double room. We also needed to dine in a quiet corner so the birthday girl (who has very limited...

The hotel was perfectly adequate and definitely good value. Parts of it does look tired and everything, apart from the shower water-pressure, was fine. Although we were at the front we didn't notice any road noise and, for January, we felt warm enough. We didn't eat here so can't comment on the food. Think parking could be an issue at...

We were greeted on arrival by Ebony, a delightful hostess who instantly made us feel welcome and was very friendly and helpful during our stay. Our room was pleasant and comfortable. (No toiletries which was a disappointment and unusual these days) The bed was comfortable and the towels lovely and soft. Breakfast was comprehensive and tasty. All in all this...

We were a group of 9 adults and 6 children getting together for a meal and catch up from different parts of the country. We had a great time, reasonable prices, friendly and very helpful staff. Food was simple but perfect after long journey and ideal for kids. Would go back again

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Visitors to the Old Pheasant are assured of a warm welcome at this popular bar, inn and restaurant. The traditional bar serves real cask ales with an imaginative bar meals menu. The restaurant serves traditional English fare at lunchtimes and in the evening. An excellent standard of accommodation for both the business client and the tourist. The Old Pheasant opened in 2004 following extensive refurbishment. The aim was to create a decor and layout conducive to a relaxed and informal atmosphere. We have become well known predominantly for our food. Whilst this will always be an important part of our business we are also a place to stay for a quiet break, somewhere for a business meeting, or perhaps simply somewhere to escape for a drink and some company. English pubs are famous for being just that, English pubs. Whilst they are no longer the drinking dens of old we still try to maintain an element of tradition. We have a commitment to using local produce wherever possible, and change our menu regularly according to season and the availability of fresh local game and fish. ... more   less
