We were warmly received at the cabin at Gooromon Park. The cabin was well equipped and clean, the bottle of sparkling wine on the table and the fridge stocked with some food ‘for starters’. Located 30 km from Canberra, this is a quiet place with wide views – probably amazing without the haze due to bushfires elsewhere. We saw kangaroo’s on the premise. The cabin was well maintained, easy access, very nice and up-to-date. There is a café in the immediate proximity but that is only open seasonally.
We stayed in Silhouette Cottage for a week in October and we enjoyed every minute. Phil & Margaret are marvellous hosts and couldn't do enough for us. Banjo the friendly farm dog was there to greet us every morning whilst we enjoyed the lovely views over the paddocks and countryside towards Canberra. We found the cottage wonderfully clean and very comfortable. Our hosts greeted us with a welcoming bottle of "bubbles" and some lovely breakfast provisions and they made sure we didn't run low on anything. They also suggested some nice eating places in the area which we used. It took only about 15 mins drive into the CBD shops and the tourist attractions etc. Highly recommended.
Lovely setting in a lovely warm cottage ( -6 one morning..) Phil and Margaret were wonderful hosts and our kitchen was stocked with plenty of breakfast options, including some cheese and salmon to go with our bottle of champagne that was on our table when we arrived. Great shower, comfortable bed and plenty of space. We even enjoyed a morning visitor from Banjo, they’re friendly dog. We’ll definitely be back here. Was such a lovely setting and left feeling a lot more relaxed. Thanks Phil and Margaret for taking the time to do all the little extra touches that make a stay a good one, to a great one.
We just spent two nights in one of the cottages “Silhouette” and had an excellent stay. So nice to be close to Canberra without having to stay in an impersonal hotel. Beaut studio cottage with an elegant feel and large modern bathroom. Huge bath, twin sinks an open shower and a toilet rail would mean access for less able guests who would use the rear door for entry instead of front steps. Gracious hosts catered to our vegan diet for breakfast supplies which was hugely appreciated and the range was above and beyond our expectations. Such a comfortable cottage with all facilities. Washing up in the bathroom was a little awkward but manageable and not a deal breaker. Fabulous views day and night, we were entertained by an electrical storm, the temps plummeted but the double glazing and the reverse cycle air con kept us snug. This will be our first option for any future trips to Canberra. No noise intrusion from second cottage.…
This place is wonderfully quiet, close to the north of Canberra but without any of the hustle and bustle of a city. The views, front and back, are amazing, and if you want to see wildlife, or if you love horses, this is a great place to come. The room is very comfortable, and the bed is great. Breakfast provisions were provided and adequate for the two mornings we were there. The owner also left wine, which was a nice touch. Bathroom is good and modern. The only drawback is that you need to wash your breakfast dishes in the bathroom sink, which is small and not designed for washing dishes. Can recommend this place to travellers wanting something other than hotel/motel rooms,
