We had a fantastic stay at this luxe property. It is high end all the way. The bedrooms are fresh with the main bedroom looking out over a green patch of grass which attracts grazing kangaroos each morning and evening. The kitchen is very well decked out so you can cook up your feast. The property is close to the 12 Apostles for visiting. A few points: Maybe I missed it when booking but breakfast items are provided. I don’t think the website clearly stated this as well as the booking documents. In any case it was a nice surprise to see some great produce and items waiting for us in the fridge for breakfast! It would be great to have a guide for the property in the lodge eg local walks; how to get the mountain bikes from the manager; where to go to eat/buy food, etc. Again no biggie as everyone is so connected via the internet these days. Overall though this place is still 5 star luxury. We would return...…
We really enjoyed our stay at Alkina lodge. The lodge was beautiful, clean and modern. The main bedroom has a beautiful view of a field where there were kangaroos in the morning and afternoon. There is also a bit of a view of the ocean in the distance but it is limited and not what I would expect from a “sea view”. The hosts were very accomodating and were kind enough to let us plug in our electric car to the mains power which was a lifesaver. I would recommend bringing food and supplies with you because there are no shops nearby (although breakfast is provided).
Quite possibly one of the nicest, most modern places we've stayed along our travels. Nestled in a quiet, private locale, only a short-ish drive from civilisation. A real hidden gem. Would definitely recommend.
We highly recommend Alkina Lodge. The accommodations were top notch, we loved seeing the kangaroos grazing right off our back patio. We also highly recommend doing the Australian BBQ dinner. Cyndi & Jordan do an amazing job, the food was fantastic.
Fabulous place to stay on your Great Ocean Road drive. Remote but close to to the road and touching distance of the 12 Apostles in Australian terms. Accommodation is vast and very comfortable, plus Jordan and Cyndi on hand. Kangaroos on lawn, Wreck beach close by, great stay!
Very large unit with plenty of rooms! The best for families with 3 and more kids or for a company of friends. Very attractive design and well equipped kitchen. Great fireplace and barbeque area. Brilliant views!
Alkina Lodge is in a beautiful bush setting with some of the biggest kangaroos I've ever seen lazing on the lawn! It is peaceful, private, natural and luxurious. The open fire place is great for chilly weather, the lounge and dining area works well (and allows room for dancing!), the bathroom is spacious with everything a traveller needs, and the beds are comfortable for a great nights' sleep. Jordan and Cindy are excellent hosts, providing delicious food, local knowledge and thoughtful customer service. There is plenty to do in the area, but this is also a great place to do plenty of nothing and just relax in peace. Jordan is an excellent walking guide and this is a world-class area to explore. Highly recommend for groups of friends or families, the flexible layout of the lodges allows for any combination.…
Clean, well-appointed lodges, our room had a magnificent view over the treetops to the Ocean in the distance, kangaroos grazing outside our window and an abundance of birdlife. Jordan and Cindy are wonderful hosts with great local knowledge and really care that each of their guests has a positive experience. Fabulous food too.
First time in Australia. First night. We arrived at sunset. 3 kangaroos waiting in front of the lodge. In the back they were 20! We slept with a view of the stars. I woke up with a kangaroo outside the window. A real home in a magical place.
This is the most amazing place. The lodges are huge with every convenience imaginable, from washing machine, hairdryers, log fire with wood, and kangaroos on your doorstep. A group of about 14 kangaroos hung about just outside our door for several hours. The drive along the Great Ocean road was spectacular but make sure you pick up all food supplies before arriving as there are no eating out dinner options in the area. To be honest the lodge is so wonderful that eating in is wonderful. You can order pre organised hampers a minimum of seven days before your stay but we just did a shop in Lorne at a very good supermarket. Can’t recommend this place more highly!
