My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at Southern Anchorage Retreat in the Fiji cottage in February 2021. From the moment we arrived and saw the the spectacular views we knew we had picked a winner for our visit along the Great ocean road. We were greeted by Drew who very kindly gave us lots of information on some great places we should visit around the area including a chocolate and cheese shop! (Truly cannot go wrong with chocolate and cheese). When we arrived at the cottage we were extremely impressed by how cosy and welcoming it was, a home away from home feel. The cottage itself was extremely clean and well kept, the bed was HUGE very spacious and comfy, I especially liked that the doona covers were patterned and stylish not your usual boring white Doona that lots of hotels have. We took on Drew’s advice before we arrived and ensured we had plenty of food s for our stay which was great as it meant no stressing over where to go to find doc groceries. The main reason we chose the Fiji cottage was for the spa and breathtaking view that we have read about in other reviews. And it did not disappoint. Sitting back in the spa was so relaxing and definitely needed after all the stress of COVID.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we have told all of our friends and family about this wonderful accomodation tucked away on the great ocean road. It’s a true gem and I cannot wait to return. Thank-you drew and Maria for the wonderful stay, we’ll see you soon!

Host Andrew was very welcoming and had plenty of good information regarding Great Ocean Walk.
We stayed in the Fiji cabin with views over hills and down towards the 12 Apostles.
Canin included a spa bath which was a welcome inclusion after a hard days trekking.
Food was top notch as well

We walked the last 3 days of the Great Ocean Walk. For 2 nights we stayed at Southern Anchorage. After walking around 20 kms each day, coming back to the cabin was heaven. It was beautifully appointed with soft bed, comfy couches, and the best part was the spa we could relax in after a day out on the track, ahh 😌 !
Andrew collected us and dropped us promptly at the track every day. He provided us two delicious home cooked dinners every night. The lamb shanks were to die for!

We stayed at the Fiji Cottage in January 2022. It was an absolutely perfect stay. Stunning views across the valley. Soaking in the peaceful atmosphere at sunset while listening to the kookaburras was something very special.
Drew was very helpful and provided very handy tips for exploring the local area. He helped us immensely by letting us know the optimum time for exploring the Marie Gabrielle and Fiji anchors at Wreck Beach (just a few minutes drive from the cottage; well worth the visit if the tide/swell conditions are right) - which was a big, bonus highlight for our stay.
We had such a great time at Southern Anchorage Retreat - it's given us a lifetime of treasured memories. It really was the perfect base for exploring the 12 Apostles and Otways. Thank you, Drew and Maria!

Southern Anchorage Retreat was an ideal location to use as a base for our GOR walk. Set in amongst the gums, the cabin had a beautiful view of the hills and ocean and everything that you need. We particularly enjoyed the big front deck, spa, and Drew's incredible local knowledge and advice. He was really easy going, helping us with our program (even our early starts!), shuttling us to the best starting points.

We stayed here for two nights during our Great Ocean Walk. Drew was the perfect host (I'm sure Maria is, too, but we didn't meet her), offering a very warm welcome. His local knowledge, generously shared, made our stay and walk even better. In fact, the cottage was so lovely, we skipped a day of walking to sit on the balcony, savour the stunning views and completely unwind. The only sound was a fabulous chorus of birdsong. The cottage was spotless and had everything we could possibly need, including a jacuzzi. The meals, brought to the cottage by Drew, were absolutely five-star. We'd definitely come back!

My husband and I really enjoyed staying in the Fiji Cottage with its AMAZING view complete with spa! The cottage very comfortable and we had everything we needed. Drew and Maria are warm and friendly hosts who, as part of our package, fed us very well! They are ocals who love where they live, offering lots of knowledge that helped us greatly on our hike. An awesome experience all around :)

In May my partner and I escaped the city for a weekend from the Covid madness and managed to book in last minute at the Southern Anchorage Retreat.
Everything from the communication, directions, the place itself, Covid restrictions and check out was just absolutely brilliant. We were completely blown away. We have never experienced such great customer service anywhere.
The cottage itself is just mind blowing, so clean, adorable, well equipped, just what we needed for a weekend away together. And the Spa... well, it just made the weekend.
The view was fantastic, the best part for me was waking up Sunday morning getting ready to check out (we were allowed extra time due to nobody checking in until later on) and looking out the window to see the livestock in the field in front of us. I’m a huge cattle lover and reminded me of my hometown back in the UK.
I will for sure be staying here again without a doubt!

My wife and I decided to do the final three days of the GOW in two days by spending a night here. We got a clean, comfortable room. A much needed shower. Three square meals, including a lovely home cooked dinner. All without breaking the magical spell of the GOW, as we still felt like we were surrounded by nature and wildlife (note the kookaburra and two wallabies in the photo from our balcony). Finally, the owners found the perfect balance of being friendly and welcoming while still giving us our space. We hope to visit again some day!

Drew and Maria made us very welcome after a couple of long days walking the Great Ocean Walk. Very helpful and welcoming and we were very well fed (particularly the puddings!). Loved the view and the birds and kangaroos watched from the veranda.
