A soul full hotel and conference venue with history dating back to 1870. Great location with stunning views in beautiful nature and varied hiking areas. Very hygggelig and service-minded staff. Gourmet-quality restaurant with good wine selection. Homemade food and very good breakfast with freshly baked bread and good variety.

This is a hidden gem among Oslo's hotels. Located on the edge of Oslo forest at the top of tall and steep hill. Lovely panorama of Ringerike district, Tyrifjorden lake and in the distance mountains. Good or very good food in the restaurant. Directly connected to the hiking trail network in the Oslo forest. By car from Sundvollen village in... More

We stopped by while out in the forest geocaching. The hotel treated us as honored guests setting us up by a roaring fire with coffee and Aquavit. The service was amazing and the setting lovely. I highly recommend a visit to this special place.

I was there on a seminar with my employer and approx. 50 others. The facilities for seminars were good, but there were few toilets. Great food in the breaks, though. What I will remember this hotel for is 1) the food, which was exceptional, and 2) the view onto the lake and the nearby surroundings.

Nice conference hotel, small basic rooms with paper thin walls. Good food unfortunately set menus for lunch that limit flexibility, well tasting breakfast. Basic conference rooms, but beautiful setting.

Kleivstua is centrally located to access a hiking and biking eldorado, Kroksskogen. a hilly wilderness just outside Oslo. For those who like to combine nature and culture, Kroksskogen abounds with cultural heritage sites too. Kleivstua adds its own value to all of this - the food is exquisite, there is a fair choice of good wines and the personell is... More

We had a management conference up at Kleivstua for a full day. Very good service and very nice meals! The lunch was a pasta dish with salmon. That was a little bit too salty. After the meeting we had a three course dinner. That was excellent, especially the main course. The rooms were nice and clean. The thing to complain... More

Hidden, far up, in Kleiva in Hole, you will find one of Norway´s finest restaurants. The view is magic and so is the food! You will get a fixed menu depening on the season and it is always local produce. The staff, their service and their knowledge is unusual in Norway. Well worth the drive, from whereever you are coming... More

We celebrated a birthday here with 35 friends. Reception down in the main house, and then dinner and party up in Villa Utsikten. The hotel is located 45 minutes outside Oslo, into the forest. Immediate access to cross-country skiing in the winter, and running/walking/biking in the summer. Well known for their high quality food, the 3-course dinner was delicious. The... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The tradition steeped Kleivstua has an undisturbed location surrounded by natural beauty, only a 40 minutes drive from Oslo. From Sundvollen the Dronningveien winds through Krokkleiva to the idyllic farmyard with a main house, small houses, stabbur, storage house, and outhouses. Kleivstua is history, tradition, forest mysteries, old houses, and grass-clad roofs. This is where Asbjornsen and Moe roamed the forest to find inspiration for their fairy tales, you are in their kingdom and that can be felt. The finely tuned details of the rooms, the soft couches, and the good meeting rooms. Wandering among the houses in the farmyard or to the Queen's and King's view makes Kleivstua a place for good meetings between people - both those who talk business, and those who get married or have something important to celebrate. ... more   less
