Probably the nicest backpacker location on our trip. We stayed in the 'pond cabin', small, basic, but quiet and beautiful. Behind the main house there's a nature trail with lots of information about flora and fauna. We would have loved to stay longer but our itinerary didn't allow it.

the little tree-hut like accommodation was super tidy, neat and clean with a very comfortable bed, a desk and chair. there is also an outside space with cover, the amendities are in the mainhouse: great shower, toilets and extremely friendly and knowledgable hosts. - we were nearly trapped in one of the motels and hotels on the other side of the...

We LOVED to stay here. We stayed at the Pond Cabin and had our own terrace completely for ourselves right next to the pond. The garden is amazing and there are exotic fruit trees, beautiful trees, flowers, plants, bamboo and a lot of native stuff. We loved the smell here, ahhh it was so good. Would definitely stay here again...

Stunning, other worldly paradise. Not only is this a beautiful retreat but Pauline and Claire are the most wonderful hostesses I've ever had the pleasure to meet. Thank you for creating such a wonderful hostel and for allowing me to hang around to sort out some urgent flight bookings at short notice. I had my own private cabin which was...

The place is beautiful in the middle of the forest. They have a full kitchen and lounge area. The rooms are clean and no more than 4 beds to a room. Its not ideal if you don't have a car since it is 25 min west of the main highway but its completely worth it. Prices are very reasonable. Loved...

Loved this place. We were driving nearby (This was 2km from the ferry) and all the cabins were booked, so the host Phil offered my friend and I a 3 bed backpackers room in the tree house to ourselves. It was spotlessly clean, reasonably priced and with a fab view onto the forest/jungle gardens, so we accepted. Wifi was $2....

It was July and the depths of winter and still our accommodation at the Tree House was fab. We are definitely coming back in the summer and stay for a few nights and do some of the walks in the area. One of the highlights was the well stocked common area, it had games and books and bean bags. One...

Stayed here one night, would love to come back for longer. Would definitely recommend this place, it's amazing. We were lucky to be there on a quiet night so we had a balcony all to ourselves as there was no one in the room next to us. Sitting drinking a glass of wine on our own balcony looking out over...

We stayed here for two nights in one of the private cabins. It rained the whole time we were there, but that didn't stop us from enjoying this wonderful place. Phil and Pauline have done an amazing job at creating a magical hideaway. The communal area and kitchen were well equipped. We especially enjoyed the bean bags and games on...

I've stayed in a lot of backpackers around the world and this is my favorite! We could only stayed for 1 night on our way from Cape Reinga back to the North Shore but if we had time we'd have loved to stay longer! There is a big area to camp if you have a tent otherwise we were lucky...
