Prama Sanur Beach Bali strikes a balance between value and experience, offering reasonable rates with some additional costs for extra amenities. Guests are drawn to its beachfront location and the variety of amenities, including multiple pools and live entertainment. While the atmosphere combines liveliness with peacefulness, parts of the hotel would benefit from modernization. Service generally receives high marks for staff friendliness and efficiency, though it’s not without occasional inconsistency. Room opinions are mixed, with praise for spaciousness countered by concerns over upkeep and cleanliness.

In summary the resort is good value but just misses out on being great value because of some missed opportunities.

Ok, so I get that the resort is in the process of renovations, we didn't expect too much as we'd got a good deal and it was just a room to sleep in. So I'm not going to review the room, there's not much they can do about it until the renovations are done, but I will review the house cleaning service. We went with 2 other couples, and we all had the same complaint, each day we were chasing the room cleaning team for things that were missed, either toilet paper, towels, face washers, glasses.... One of my friends placed a small piece of paper on the floor to see if it would be swept up, it sat there for the whole week.

Now for the breakfast, Overall the buffet breakfast is really really good, however, if you want your coffee anything other than tepid drip filter, you'll have to specifically request it.

The adults pool tiles are really really smooth and slippery, be careful, and if you want a sun lounge you'll have to get there before 7am and either put a book on it from the counter or grab a towel if it's open, even though they're are signs saying not to reserve them. I personally observed several lounges that had towels on them and sat vacant until after lunch.

The only meal other than breakfast I ate at the resort was a pizza on the first day after arrival, it was ok but the base was a generic store bought item, with the toppings they had and the proper oven, if they used a hand made base they would be in competition with the Italian place down the street.

Seriously, the basics are there, great grounds, location and entertainment and once the Reno's are finished the facilities will be a lot better, it's just the opportunities that are missed that let the place down.

Our 3rd or 4th visit.

As other people say, it's not 5 star, but you wouldn't expect it to be 5 star at the price offered. And for the price offered, it is value for money, especially if you are booking more than one room (for kids). The location is great. The breakfast is wonderful. We like Bamboo Bar. It's central. We had sea view rooms on the top floor - spacious and good sea view. We used the pool but like others say, there's no chance in getting a lounge (unless it's 4pm).

This visit we were disappointed in the overall cleanliness of our room (e.g. floorboards under the bed were full of dust and dirt, sheer white curtains were stained and each time our bed linen was changed there were many stains on the sheets and quilt cover - the white colour was off-white and dirty looking).

We are no way complainers, but due to a major insect problem we experienced in our room, that may have been due to the uncleanliness (or overall staff complacency), we spoke to management on day 5 of our 7 day stay.

They were absolutely sympathetic and sprung into action.

We were moved to a VERY clean room that smelt of disinfectant, had shiny floorboards, very thick bath towels and unstained bed linen. And, we know they took our complaint seriously as our old room was deeply cleaned and treated (we were moved next-door so could hear/see/smell what was happening).

Things happen. It's Bali. A large resort to manage / oversee. But if we stayed again, we would insist on reviewing the cleanliness of the room before moving in.

Spent 6 nights at this hotel in 3 different rooms...
The first room turned out to have a very noisy fridge that we couldn't sleep for. It was also damp/damp - but it turned out to be general.
We were first moved from our seaview room to a club room, which was newer/more fancy. We slept here for 1 night. But we wanted to go back and have a sea view, so the next day we moved to a room similar to the first, but with a slightly less noisy fridge. The aircon was old fashioned and hard to control and it was hard to tell if it was just making the humidity worse. Our shoes felt wet after being inside the room at night. But if we put them on the balcony, they were dry...
Bedding and our clothes also felt damp.
Very poor cupboard space (only for hangers), so we lived in our suitcases..
Had to call housekeeping the first time we had a shower, as the water couldn't drain out. The toilet smelled and the first day there was mold in the sink.
In the first room, housekeeping had to come and spray the bathroom as small animals were running around the sink.
The view from the seaview room was good (room 802) and the reception was helpful.
In some places there were signs saying "smoke-free hotel", but it was only one floor, because smoking was done on other floors, in bars etc.
I am gluten-free (coeliac) and had a hard time getting a good breakfast. The first day I got gluten-free bread and gluten-free pancakes, but the waiter had a hard time answering what I could eat from the buffet. She had no idea what was in it.
The first day I was asked how many days we would be there so they would be prepared. But it just didn't work.. the hotel was too big to handle it.
The next day when I asked for gluten free pancakes I was told they didn't have them... when I tried to explain that I had them the day before she didn't even understand the word "yesterday" so I gave up communicating more with her and instead found the manager who then got me the pancakes. However, I had to stand up and say that they were not allowed to make my pancakes on the same plate as the regular ones, but that they had to be made in the kitchen on a clean pan..
Often I stuck to omelette and fruit..
The hotel is right next to the beach, where there are also sun loungers and parasols. To the other side is a street with shops, restaurants and massage options.
At an angle to the left of the hotel is the Italian restaurant Bella Italia, which has gluten-free pasta dishes.

We have just returned from our 5th stay at the Prama Sanur Beach Hotel, and as usual it did not disappoint.
Agreed, it could do with a refresh/ refurbishment in some areas, but the amenities, location, vibe and wonderful staff certainly make up for any shortcomings in other areas.
Our days started with a sumptuous breakfast, offering Western, Indonesian and European style cuisine. ( My only suggestion re. breakfast is that the bain maries could have been a bit hotter.)
On returning to our suite, it was always perfectly cleaned and re-stocked by the efficient and delightful Dedi. Birthdays were celebrated during our stay, and we returned one morning to find Happy Birthday 'written' on our bed in flowers, along with towel animals and later, a birthday cake and card. So lovely!
Most evenings were spent at the Bamboo Bar- firstly for Happy Hour, then lingering for dinner and the nightly 'show'on the beach. Marvellous! There are of course a la carte resaurants within the hotel grounds, and many restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel, so guests are spoilt for choice!
A huge plus is the location of this hotel, with direct access to the beach. For those who want to avoid too much sun, there are 'sun lounges' beneath large spreading trees on the beach. There is also the availability of bike and jetski hire, boat tours, wind surfing, para-sailing, a surf school and a wonderful Spa. Dedicated/approved drivers/tour operators are within the car park grounds for reasonable prices. (eg a personal driver will drive you anywhere of your choosing on Bali for AUD$80 /day)
This is a resort for all ages, with so much to see and do, both within the grounds and within easy walking distance. The beachfront path in front of the hotel is smooth, flat and mostly shaded, so it's ideal for walking and cycling, covering many kilometers.
Of course there are more glitzy hotels in Bali, but for an authentic Balinese feel, with all the above mentioned amenities, it's hard to beat for a perfect holiday to suit all. We will be back again!

I stayed at the Prama Sanur with an open mind.

Some people complain about everything so I like to base my own opinion of a place.

The Prama Sanur is in a very good location, but the resort itself is in dire need of major repairs. Everywhere you look there are signs of neglect and shoddy repair work.

Everything from the hallways to bathrooms are run down and dirty. It's an old reaort and it certainly shows.

There are things they could do to make it better, but they are basically ignored. Even a simple power wash of the mould ring around the swim up bar would help but it seems to go unnoticed.

The blender at the bar was so filthy I couldn't believe they were actually using it.

I think this resort has had it's day and will continue into total decline.

It's such a shame....

Can highly recommend Prama beach hotel. My first time in Bali so I read trip adviser for recommendations and then choose Prama. The hotel is of a high standard, exceptionally clean and staff and facilities are amazing
Prior to travelling I contacted the hotel with various questions and each time they replied promptly - excellent service. My husband has limited mobility and management suggested I upgrade to a superior room for $20 per night. Excellent decision and well worth it. The room was spacious, bed very comfortable and bathroom excellent.
We only stayed for 3 nights but plan to return next year.
Small supermarket , sanda spa and baby monkeys ( see my other reviews) within 3 minutes walk so location very convenient.
Thank you Prama

The Prama is an average hotel but the price is reflective of that.
Good things:
*the staff
*in the quieter end of Sanur
*beach front property
*great breakfast

Nor so good things:
*this property is so very tired. There probably wasn't one area that couldn't do with a spruce up. Noisy, old air cons, wooden flooring popping up from the ground in our room, old bathrooms etc
*the worst hotel I've stayed at in terms of pool bed reservers. By 10am, all the pool beds have towels on them, even though there were only a third of people present at the pool or beach. Unfortunately even though it is completely against my principles to reserve a bed before I actually need one, I ended up playing that silly game too.
* a great kids area but once again, a paint and a spruce up would help
* I paid extra for ocean views and the ocean views from our ground floor room weren't anything special. It was mostly a pool view rather than an ocean view.

Dedi from housekeeping was wonderful, Risa, from breakfast was beautiful, staff are lovely, WiFi is shocking, massive resort, needs a bit of revamp, but overall a really nice resort. Beautiful gardens, good breakfast, one thing that needs addressing, people who place towels on pool chairs then don't come back for 5 hours should not be allowed! Management should remove towels after 2 hours or so, its not fair you can't get a sunlounge. Brilliant location, would recommend this resort highly, wonderful staff.

The Prama Sanur Beach Hotel is somewhat of an institution, established some 50 years ago. This was our third visit to Prama Sanur, and it lived up to expectations. We always seem to have some confusion at check-in; this time our room wasn't ready. We were provided with comp coffee, and all was quickly resolved. The staff are quick to offer solutions when something unexpected does pop up.
The Prama has extensive gardens (including a pond with a flock of ducks), there is quite a bit to explore. Then there are pools, fitness centre, spa and choice of restaurants. Having a beach front, there is also the option to lounge by the beach.
The hotel has various wings, some are newer than others. The older rooms have a stronger Indonesian decor. Rooms are clean and tidy. Beds are comfortable and water pressure is good. In the older rooms there can be some smaller issues, like doors have swollen due to humid conditions and need a bit of 'shove' to close them. Bathrooms are of adequate size, water pressure is good.
Prama Sanur is a place that you don't really have to leave - pretty much everything you need for some relaxing pool-side/beach-side time is at your finger-tips.
Our deal included daily breakfast. There is a range of European and Indonesian options. The egg station makes delicious omelettes and pancakes - it's hard to stop at one.
The staff are friendly and welcoming. We would happily return.

For Bali standards and for a 5 star hotel the price is excellent. The room has a beautiful view of the swimming pool. Excellent welcome and kindness of the staff. The breakfast was also good although the dessert was very repetitive and some products were missing. On the savory side, however, it was very varied and assorted. The room is furnished to the bare minimum, but if you want greater comfort it is better to take the superior deluxe room. The bathroom does not have a window to any room. Tranquility and silence reign here, excellent companions for a journey of pure relaxation. Be careful not to consume alcohol at the lounge bar (price for 2 bitters is 9 euros each). The restaurants are open from 8am to 10pm, you can eat at any time.
I recommend this hotel and especially the sanur area to stay.
