This place is amazing. The surroundings make you feel like you are in a oasis of nature and the pool is great. There are just 4 rooms plus the host house and therefore the place is quiet and you get a very personalised attention. Rooms are very cosy and the host made everything to please us ( organising some dinner for us, booking an elephant camp, etc) I would recommend this place to everyone we loved it

The couple who own the place was very nice and accommodating. They really make you feel like you are welcme there. The natural surrounding especially bamboo bridge to walk across small creek toward rice paddies was really cute and unpretentious. The small pool, garden area and small kitchen complete the place. The room itself was large with additional bed. Hot water and wifi work really well. But bed was a bit hard and better comforter is prefered.

My family just spent a couple of days in this wonderful place. Now I understand why it is the number 1 B&B on TripAdvisor. Housed in lush greenery beside a paddy field, Nova Mae Taeng resides in a small village about 45 minutes outside Chiang Mai. Staying here, one can't help but to experience a village lifestyle. Small back roads, vegetable sellers along the streets, small eateries dotted here and there, and roosters greeting you in the morning. While it is not within Chiang Mai city, many attractions such as Elephant Poo Poo Paper Park, Tiger Kingdom, X-Adventure, and other attractions such as Zipline Chiang Mai, 8 Adventures (trekking, ATV, rafting etc), and some of the elephant camps are all around 30 minutes drive away. If you're into such activities, it is quicker to get to from here than travelling from a hotel in downtown Chiang Mai. Inside, the guest house is nicely furnished. There's a pool that is big enough to do some laps in, a shared kitchenette, and lounge chairs just outside your room. There are four rooms altogether. All rooms comes with a shower, a nice day bed, wardrobe, study desk, some chairs and tables, and of course a bed. Shampoo, bath gel, linens and towels are provided. There is no TV, but my family did not miss it. In short, it is a nice and comfortable place. Breakfast is provided, and we had the chance to savour their papaya that was grown on the premises. It was really good. For lunch and dinner, there is a menu of reasonably priced local and Western dishes you can order from which are delivered to the guest house. If memory serves me right, they range from 50 to 80 baht per dish. I learnt that the spaghetti was made by Janey herself. My daughter loved it and did a repeat order. There are also restaurants nearby and coffee places you can go to. These are not within walking distance, so you will need a car, or you can enlist Warren or Janey's help for transport. If you're into cooking, there are local provision shops, the roadside vegetable sellers, or you can go to Mae Ma Lai market which is 15 mins away. In addition, there is also a laundry service provided on-site. Just drop your soiled clothes to Warren or Janey, and they wash, dry and fold it for you for 90 Baht per basket. And if you have nothing planned, there are also tours provided by the hosts. If you're more inclined to explore around yourselves like us, do ask the hosts and they will be glad to share with you places to go and sights to see. For example, Warren shared with me where to park when we went to Warorot Market. It was in a temple near Warorot. I mean, who would have thought of temple parking right? But what makes Nova Mae Taeng number 1, is the service that you get from the friendly hosts, Warren and Janey. Breakfast is served when you're ready, and they never fail to ask if everything is OK, or if you need more food. I did a lot of cooking because I was on a strict diet due to a medical condition, and they were more than happy to provide all the necessary cooking utensils, oil, salt and pepper etc. We were there over Christmas, and seeing that we had kids, they decorated a potted plant into a Christmas tree, and put presents under it for all of us. And they also dried some papaya seeds for us to bring back and plant. All these personal touches made our stay memorable. I can't remember the last time we befriended the owner or host of a hotel on Facebook, but at Nova Mae Taeng, we did. What makes this place great, is the overall experience. For us, the experience we encountered at Nova Mae Taeng was great, and we would definitely go back again. To Warren and Janey who's getting married in 2 weeks, thank you for your hospitality, and we wish that happiness finds you everyday as you begin your new life together.

It was an amazing and wonderfull place! The owners of the guesthouse are so lovely and wanted to help us with everything! They arranged the visit to baanchang elephants camp and it was sooo great!! They also took us to some wonderfull places in the neighbourhood like the bua tong waterfall, a temple and a nice lake! It is a quiet neighbourhood and there is not much to do around but they will try to arrange the things you Will ask for! So it is a very nice place to visit!

Very friendly, 4 room guesthouse, nice pool, relaxed country setting. Rooms spacious and clean, beds firm as is the case in most of country Thailand. Wonderful hosts (French/Thai). Dinners brought in, French breakfast provided. Honour system for drinks from the bar. Good for a quiet getaway for a couple of nights

It's a great little place, with lovely contemporary rooms, a beautiful pool and the friendliest service. There's not much to do in the area, but still good for a bit of exploring. Most people stay here as a stopover on the way to Pai, but I think quite a few have stayed on because it's really quite lovely.

I visited the place on Saturday, 24 January 2015 to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. Surprisingly, we were the only two people there that night and we had the whole place to ourselves. It was heaven. The asmosphere was just so serene and relaxing while the owners warmly attended to our every need. I'm a local and usually don't spend this much on hotels/resorts but this was truly worth every satang (Thai penny)!

As I'm writing this review, Im still at the hotel, its actually my first night but I can already tell you this place is PERFECT. If you're looking for an awesome place to stay in Chiang Mai this is it! Seriously look no further! It's beautiful spacious private clean with the best people running it! Could not find nicer people. Everyone comes to Chiang Mai for the nature and the quiet away from the city so by checking into this guesthouse your experience would be complete. I love everything about this place!
