The island is small and relatively under developed for tourists so this is definitely one of the nicer hotels. We found the service efficient and friendly - housekeeping was great and responsive to requests, reception was friendly and helpful, the wait staff were amendable and service was efficient. Breakfast could feel a little rushed, but the hotel was busy so understandable. The rooms were brilliant - very well maintained, spacious rooms with great storage. Ours had a small kitchen area including fridge and sink as well as a small plunge pool and two outside areas to sit in. Things to be aware of if you want to stay there. The location is by the port, which is convenient for getting boats, but it is about 3km to Chora which you can get to on the bus or you need to rent transport. We walked there one day and it is along the uphill main road so not recommended. If you like to be in the middle of things then it’s probably not the best location. Children are welcome here so if you are looking for an adults only quiet retreat then it’s not the place, at least in high season. Whilst the hotel isn’t geared to them, the accommodation can be configured for families, there is a kids pool and playroom and they are allowed in the main pool too.
Overall we loved it in the context it is in -ie a very small, quite underdeveloped Greek island. It is not 5 stars comparable to hotels in Paris, New York or London, but it’s a totally different thing so it should be considered in that context.

This is unquestionably the smartest hotel on the island and, in many respects it ticks the boxes. On the plus side, the rooms are comfortable, the bathrooms well fitted and the air conditioning is very efficient. The pool is sensational for a small island. Unfortunately, service at breakfast and poolside ranges from chaotic to comical to simply irritating. During a six night stay in a suite, we never managed to work out who the gm was, or even if they had one. It did have the feel of a rudderless ship. The saddest aspect, however, and one that could so easily be corrected, is the truly dire furniture and decor. Some planters by the pool to break up the starkly clinical feel of that area would work wonders. This isn’t a question of taste but simply the result of an unskilled amateur being given an inadequate budget. Somebody has spent a lot of money building this. Hopefully, after what must have been a better than expected season, they will now employ an interior designer to turn their frog into a prince. At the moment they have the market to themselves. That won’t last long.

Dear jonathanwT3430GB, Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your experience in Anemi. We appreciate that you enjoyed your Suite, our infinity pool and that in general you seem satisfied with your stay. On the other hand we are sorry to read that your expectations were not fully met regarding our offered services. Our standards are very high and we always try to keep up with them. From my side I remember welcoming you upon your arrival at the hotel, as I always do with our guests and for sure also saying goodbye when you left, just a few days ago. As you were leaving the lobby area you thanked us for the nice time you had here. Our apologies if my presence or that of our Restaurant Manager went unnoticed throughout your stay, although we are always around with the aim to oversee the operations and assist our guests. Rest assured that all your comments are taken in consideration as we constantly want to improve our facilities and services and we thank you once again for your feedback. We hope we will have the opportunity to host you in Anemi again in the future and offer you the magic that you missed this time. Best Regards, Zoi Operations Manager

Our stay in Anemi was everything we wished for! The Hotel is amazing, it offers the luxury and facilites of a 5-star hotel in a very discreet way and it is very close to the sea. The pool is huge, the rooms very spacious with a lot of light and all the staff is so much friendly and helpful, even during these strange times that we are all experiencing. The Yoga classes we took in the open studio of the Hotel were the little extra relaxation we needed in this fantastic, laid-back island. Folegandros is a great option for all those who need to unwind and Anemi is definitely the place to stay if this is what you are searching for. Last but not least, the food at the restaurant of the hotel was to die for! We had small expectations as we thought we 'd get boring "hotel food" but the dishes were super delicious and fresh and we ate there quite a few times. Overall, it was a great experience! Thank you Anemi Team, we will be back as promised!

We had a pleasant stay and whilst I prefer to stay in the Hora the location worked for us well as we were with children who liked to walk down to the port beach which the hotel overlooks. The Hora is only 5 minutes drive away. However, the rooms felt overpriced and fairly basic for a hotel billed as ‘luxury’ (we had a pool suite). The bathrooms are small and the outside space cramped. I’m also not a fan of the very salty salt/sea water pools they have. We stayed in a few really lovely hotels on our trip and it didn’t compare well for us. Service was nice and breakfast were good - we didn’t have dinner.

After reading earlier reviews we booked this hotel. Whilst the landscaping and grounds were beautifully maintained, the remaining experience was lackluster.

Our children found the staff quite unfriendly. They were so looking forward to pool time, but it was often dirty and not well maintained and quite frankly overlooks the main road in town and the hotel's parking lot.

We all realize that hotels have difficulty in maintaining standard, but this was quite a disappointment.

And as the previous reviewer mentions, it is way over-priced for the services it provides

Dear Hugh S, Thank you for the time you took to write a review for us. We always evaluate our guests' opinion since a constructive feedback helps us improve our services. Our goal has always been to offer a unique experience to our guests and our standards are pretty high, since we are the only 5-star Hotel in the island. On that note, we are sorry to read that your expectations were not fully met during your stay. Kindly be informed that all our pools (in the pubic area or the private ones) are being thoroughly cleaned, disinfected and measured (water composition etc) every single day. When needed, since we perform regular checks, this procedure takes place more times during the day. Due to COVID-19 we are even more strict about this matter and we follow all the official guidelines. So, allow me to mention that it comes a bit as a suprise to us to hear that you found them to be dirty and not well maintained, especially since we cannot recall any comments of this kind from our guests during their recent stay. Also, kindly allow me to mention that our parking lot is nowhere near the pool area, it is actually at the upper side of the hotel, next to our tennis court, as it is shown on the map. Once again, thank you for your time and we wish you enjoy the rest of your summer. Best regards, Zoi Operations Manager

I was very surprised to read some slightly negative recent reviews of Anemi. This hotel is absolutely wonderful - I can’t think of a single fault. It has a lovely and relaxed atmosphere, rooms are spacious and stylish and the pool/ pool view is divine. The employees go out of their way to make you feel comfortable - we were called up when the ferry was cancelled from Ios and advised on options. The ferry company never told us our ferry was cancelled so this was a very welcome surprise. I would definitely recommend this place and Folegandros island generally. Just beautiful!

There were very few people staying when we were here so it might be different in peak season,
Our room was really nice with an outside area to sit in. The hotel pool was nice with a view over the local port. Unusually, the pool had salty water but it wasn't a problem.
There is one restaurant which does breakfast (a la carte), lunch and dinner. We didn't eat dinner here as it was basically the same menu as the pool menu. Luckily there is good food to be found at the port, a short walk away.
You really need to rent a car if you stay here and the hotel can arrange it. The nearest beaches aren't great and the main town is about 3kms away, all up hill!
I don't think the island has the greatest beaches so if you want to lounge by the pool this hotel is ideal. The pool bar is very good as well.

Stayed here for 3 nights at the end of September during our honeymoon. It is a very nice hotel. The huge saltwater infinity pool is second to none. You can see the Mediterranean and the port from some of the rooms and from the pool area bar. It is hard for me to judge how "busy" the hotel feels because there were only about 5 rooms occupied by our last day because the hotel closes October 1. The room was nice and tidy and modern. If you are looking for a room that has white-washed walls and a typical "tourist Greek" feel, you are not going to find that here. Close to the port and ATV rental place. We rented an ATV and drove up the steep windy roads to Chora and the rest of the island. If you are looking for a luxury stay (by Folegandros standards) this is the place for you. I am sure there are cheaper, cozy, quaint places to stay within the other parts of the island. If that is what you are looking for, do not choose this hotel. Breakfast was nice although smaller than some other hotels we stayed at on Greek Islands. They bring you a standard breakfast tray and then you have to ask for eggs or anything else. There was a cute little group of kittens playing at the hotel restaurant bar. I had an employee call a boat rental place for us and they did that with a smile.

We only stayed for one night as we had booked another hotel on Folegandros that wasn’t available.
The staff were extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble, we had a pool suite which was very comfortable.
Lunch and dinner was very enjoyable, but lacked atmosphere in the evening with us being the only ones in the restaurant. Breakfast was just ok.
I felt the hotel itself lacked charm and was a little clinical.

Overall, I greatly enjoyed my stay at Anemi Hotel. The room was spacious, clean, and I slept incredibly well in the bed. I liked the decor. I thought the landscaping was great. The staff answered all questions and were friendly. The island is quiet and great for hiking, and has many beaches nearby. The restaurant for dinner was excellent with exceptional service--the cod was exquisite and the bread very fresh. I thought service at breakfast was slow and the portion sizes smaller than expected. I don't usually care about portion sizes, but compared to other Greek breakfasts on my trip I was hungrier after breakfast. I guess I needed to order more items. I felt a little rushed on checkout as breakfast doesn't start until 8:30 and I was told I needed to check out by 9:10. However, I didn't really need to check out until 9:30. The hotel is literally 1 minute from the ferry port so everything was fine. Service at the bar was great. Overall, a wonderful and relaxing stay!!!

Dear Anne, Thank you very much for your nice and detailed review. We are delighted that you overall enjoyed your stay that much and that you relaxed and had a nice time here. Regarding breakfast, please note that our guests can order as many items as many times they wish, since we offer an a la carte menu. The official check-out time is at 12:00 but since you had an early boat to catch, we suggested the proper time frame in order for you not to miss it. Sometimes though, ferries are delayed, so we inform our guests accordingly and they may depart from the hotel later if they wish. Thank you once again for your feedback, we appreciate it. We hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you again in Anemi in the future! Best regards, Zoi Operations Manager
