Have just returned from a one weeks stay at this hotel and the beautiful village of Sauze. We arrived on the 29th booking with Crystal Ski holidays. Early flight out and short transfer 1.20mins) meant that we arrived before midday however there was no option to check in earlier than 3pm so, having left our luggage in reception we picked up our hired ski equipment, had some lunch and went up the mountain to check out the snow conditions. The hotel is situated at the bottom of a hill - both chair lifts at the top so getting the bus really is the only option unless you like walking uphill in ski boots and carrying your equipment with your kids moaning and crying! The hotel was comfortable, the rooms have single beds which are pushed together if you want a double. It’s like a nice Premier Inn. They have a little spa area which you have to pay extra for and book spaces in - understandable as it only accommodates about 12 people at a time but both the jacuzzis and sauna are perfect at the end of a long days skiing. Breakfast is standard continental with eggs, bacon and a good selection of pastry’s etc. Dinner was good, great selection of antipasti, second courses and desserts. My only complaint was that dinner didn’t start until 7.30pm which was just too late for us considering we ate lunch on the slopes at 1pm and usually got back to the hotel around 5pm shattered and hungry. The New Year’s Eve gala dinner and street party afterwards with live DJ and fireworks was great fun. However by 3am the music was still going strong in the Queens bar which is attached to the hotel and was so loud that you could hear everything from our second floor rooms. The same happened on the Friday night where they have karaoke until 11.30pm ... not great when you’ve been skiing all day and just want to sleep. Would I go back again? Probably not but mostly due to the fact that the resort is SO busy; you are waiting longer to get the chair lifts and buses than actually skiing. Would not hesitate to book with Crystal Ski again though.

Thanks for your comment also because I found it very spontaneous. The New Year's week is really chaotic in Sauze d'Oulx. Maybe you can decide to come again but choose a quieter period .. maybe towards the end of January .. We still thank you for being our guests.

This is what our teenage son said as we walked through the doors for our ski holiday. Our third Christmas spent at this lovely, welcoming hotel. The reception staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They sort out room keys, spa bookings and bus tickets etc.

The centrepiece of the hotel is the amazing hard work and talent shown in the restaurant and kitchen. Every meal is glorious and standards are high. Our incoming flight was delayed more than three hours but the staff stayed on (many thanks) so we could have a hot meal when we arrived. Rather than receiving something lukewarm or dried-out we were served the best beef I have ever tasted; it was succulent and delicious. The food choices, variety, quality and quantity mean that everyone in your group will be happy at mealtimes. You are allocated your own table for the week which is a lovely relaxing touch. The last meal of the week is breakfast and they go above and beyond as staff come in very early to provide this service for their departing guests. Much appreciated.

The spa has been given a bit of a facelift and is a great feature to enjoy a hot tub and sauna at the end of the day.

Really enjoyed our rooms this year as we had a mountain view at the front. The rooms are always very clean due the diligence shown from housekeeping. I was embarrassed at how my two sons had left their shared room one morning and apologised to our incoming cleaner whilst I was trying to round up their underwear! She took it all in her stride and was utterly gracious.

Love, love, love the heated boot room that means you don’t have to keep boots in your room and everything is dry and warm in the morning. If this space could be extended it would be absolute heaven as it can get quite cramped and could do with the addition of lockers/cubicles for gloves, goggles and helmets.

We appreciate having a bar on site as somewhere easy to enjoy time with family. After-ski tea, coffee and snacks are provided free of charge. There is a pool table, darts board and plenty of tv screens. Other reviewers talk of the friendly bar staff but we found quite the opposite. The man was neutral but the female was unhelpful and unfriendly; not what you want to deal with on holiday. So after a few attempts we went out and explored the other bars around town this year. The bar staff were in the restaurant every night getting their food along with the clientele; never seen that before!

Hotel Relais Des Alpes will always hold a special place in our hearts. Great town, great ski resort and great hotel. Can’t wait to return.

We booked this hotel as a ski holiday via crystal ski. To be honest I am going to struggle to find any negatives with the hotel! All the hotel staff are very friendly towards the predominately British guests. The hotel itself isn’t overly large which in my opinion encourages guests to socialise with each other in the restaurant for which you are allocated a table on your first meal and you keep that said table all week, so no need to rush for a table. The adjoined bar is not rowdy or too loud and we as a team of six came second in the crystal quiz. As other reviews stated there is a free safe, kettle with complementary teas/coffees and hairdryer. We was on fourth (top) floor away from lift and stairway. Bus stop outside hotel car park if you don’t want to walk uphill to the clotes chairlift. The food is outstanding, buffet affair with plenty of variety. Overall I would return to this hotel again.
Regarding crystal ski they expect you to log on to a website for pickup times and then take your bags down one hour before your pickup, why not at pickup time? The bags still have to be put on a bus! Apart from that gripe a very good holiday and met some like minded couples to dine and socialise with.

This hotel is badged up as a 4star hotel, never in this world it is more like a 2star hotel! Very tired and tatty decor, very much 1980’s interior,...Artex ceilings etc bathrooms take a lot to be desired very old and small shower cubicles.
Warmer in the corridors than in some of the bedrooms!
The only saving grace with this hotel was the food was average but passable.

We recently stayed at this hotel, staff where attentive, food buffet was spot on lots of variety for both breakfast/tea, the location is ideal - ski hire outside, 3 min walk to bars/restaurants and depending on how quick you walk it’s a 5 min walk up hill to the chair lift where you can store ski gear (storage is also at hotel).

We had a massage whilst here which we both enjoyed, spa facilities are handy too if you get a white out/rainy day. Free refreshments at the bar between 5-6pm for those who have had a hard day on the slopes.

My only complaint is the beds aren’t the comfiest, especially if you’re achy from skiing all day. Also don’t get a room that faces the dog kennels as you will be up all night with them barking none-stop!!!!

Spent a week in this hotel and how it has a rating of 4 star I will never know. The food is truly terrible, the bedrooms need refurnishing and the boot room has no security on it. The first night we ate in the restaurant we went up to the buffet for our main course and asked for some fish only to be told the kitchen had closed at 8.40pm. The gala dinner on New Years Eve was awful. Started at 8.30pm and when we asked for another bottle of wine (there is only a choice of 3 white wines) at 9.50pm we were told to go downstairs to the bar as the restaurant was closed!!! After a couple of nights we gave up on the same buffet starters and very average main courses and went out to some lovely local restaurants with some lovely local wines. We were absolutely freezing the first night with one single blanket and a cotton sheet on our double bed. However when we asked for another blanket it was provided which helped. How a large person fits into the shower I’ll never know. Each time I turned round I knocked the controller and the water turned to cold. The reception staff were extremely helpful and organised a taxi to take us to France to ski as there were very few runs open by the end of the week. We rented storage for our skis and boots at the bottom of the main lift as it is quite an uphill walk from this hotel to the first chairlift each day. At best this is a 3 star hotel.

we had a great stay here from boxing day till the 2nd Jan! Group of friends it was perfect. Food was great and a lot of options for breakfast and dinner. we loved the hotel bar were you could have a drink before dinner it was always very busy.
Spa was not open due to covid but you could still have massages. Boot room was very easy to access and everything was kept very dry. The ski hire shop was directly opposite the hotel so easy to collect. The town is lovely with cute little shops a

Just back from a family skiing holiday at Sauze d'Oulx where we stayed at the Relais des Alpes. The rooms are large, not particularly modern but clean and warm with plentiful hot water. We had booked a double room and a twin, but the twin room had been made up as a double. One call to reception and it was rectified immediately.
The food in the restaurant was delicious and the waiting staff polite and friendly. The Queens Lounge, a pub which adjoins the hotel, has a pool table and a darts board and also shows Sky Sports/6 Nations games.
The boot room is next door to the pub and on the ground level, so thankfully no stairs to negotiate!
The Clotes and Sportina chairlifts are about 15/20 minutes uphill by foot. I would recommend buying a weekly bus pass for 8€ pp (kids free under a certain age I think) or 2€ per single ride. The ski bus stop is opposite the hotel. Although the bus looks small, it's like a tardis and the driver packs you on!
The apres-ski in the town centre is lively and if you're lucky you may get a free charcuterie board in some of the establishments!
I highly recommend Relais des Alpes if you're heading to Sauze.

Stayed here first week in March for a ski trip of 3 blokes.. Hotel was clean and tidy, and rooms were cleaned daily. Waiting staff and pub staff were nice and polite. The manager behind the reception however was rude and abrupt.

We paid extra to use the spa facilities and received a bag each with a robe and slippers.. all of our robes smelled of stale cigarettes.. we approached the manager with this to which he replied we must have been smoking in the room. (Non of us smoke) after an argument he agreed to give us 1 new robe.. not 1 each and upon opening the bag infront of him, we said smell that as the new robe smelled the same.. he replied well we don't smoke where we was the laundry.. later a member of staff who over heard this apologised for his rudeness and said the smoking room was beside the room they dry the laundry in.

Our only other complaint is the food was mediocre to poor.. the breakfast was not nice.. cold beans and scrambled eggs.. the evening buffet meals were very bland.. unfortunate considering Italian food is renounced for its flavour.

The location is very good centre of the village with plenty of ski busses and bars around.

Over all I would stay here again if the food and front of house were improved on otherwise I'm sure there are probably better options in this stunning village

Good value hotel in great town with excellent skiing.
Staff amazing, attentive, smiling and always helpful.
Food excellent, loads of choice at breakfast and dinner. Although at dinner you have to pay for water!
We used the spa every day.. good value at only 10 euro a week.
Bar downstairs is just like old English pub, pool table, darts etc… our 16-18 year olds loved it.
Room was clean and good size and storage … if a little dated.
Only improvement point is to sort out the Dogs barking incessantly all night! Fortunately I’m a heavy sleeper but lots of people complained.
Would advise paying the 20 Euro for the lockers up by the lift do you don’t have to carry skis up the hill.
Overall a lovely week in a well run, good value hotel.
