My wife and I stayed at the hotel Sauze for a week in January. The hotel is located close to the Clotes lift (10 min walk or via the 'magic carpet' and short ski) and the piste to ski back within 50m - 60m of the front door. All staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and the food was tasty and plentiful. Our room (402) was a little small but comfortable nevertheless and more than adequate. The hotel was extremely thoughtful in putting a bottle of Prosecco in our room after my wife broke her wrist on the 4th day - well received and highly impressed with this. Overall - we had a very nice stay and would definitely stay at the Sauze if we visit Sauze D'Oulx again.

Room Tip: Try to choose a room on the 3rd floor or below. The lift does not go to the 4th floor.

Stayed here for a week over Christmas with Crystal Holidays. Only plus point was the distance to a ski lift compared to other hotels in the resort.
Rooms were very small and cramp, no where to unpack, lived out of the suitcase all week. Ski boot room heater was never on and skis kept in a separate room. Food overall was ok but very salty. No dessert buffet as advertised in Crystal’s brochure and afternoon tea did not happen until around our 4th day. You had to pay for water at dinner, you needed something to drink as food was very salty.
Beds extremely narrow and hard, did not get one good nights sleep.

Sauze Hotel was very good!!! Location to the slopes was ideal with a short walk to the carpet lift taking you to the bottom of Clotes.
The rooms were very clean and well furnished if a little hot. The central heating was on full blast (which is good) but got too hot and we had to have the windows open quite a lot.
The staff were brilliant and the rescue dog on reception was lovely if a little shy!!!
I would definately stay again when in Sauze.

Just stayed here last week of January and whilst the location was perfect for the Clotes lift and access to town, the hotel was let down by two huge groups staying in the hotel. They simply took over the bar area and restaurant and i felt like i was staying in a club 18-30 hotel. Their language was disgusting and we didn't even end up eating in the restaurant in the evenings or the bar for drinks. We ended up eating out and using the bar in the hotel next door. The room walls were also paper thin and one night the heating blasting out was so unbearable we had to sleep with the windows open through a storm!
I will say that the food we had was nice and the restaurant staff were lovely but they just couldn't control the huge rowdy groups especially when they were being rowdy when drunk and spoiling other peoples holiday experience. The wifi was also awful!

We are just back from Hotel Sauze and would happily stay again.
It is very cosy and warm. In fact, we slept with the window open each night!
It was very well decorated and clean. The bathroom was very modern and attractive. Our shower did leave a puddle on the floor each time we used it due to the design of the enclosure, but it was quick to wipe up.
The only changes we would make to the room would be more storage (there is room for more shelves) and a mirror near electrical sockets (for hairdrying when your partner is in the bathroom). But these are minor.
The food was delicious with a good choice each night. The staff were really friendly, especially the two men in the restaurant. We loved them.
The hotel was also very quiet at night. There was no one noisy walking past outside and all the other guests were quiet and respectful.
It is very close to the lift. 5-10 mins walk uphill across a field. And at the end of the day 2 mins walk back from the bottom of the field.
It is 1 min walk to the nearest bar and there are 6 popular bars (possibly more) within a 5 min walk.
The town is ridiculously pretty and the local people are very friendly.
I don't think anyone staying in Hotel Sauze will be disappointed.

I stayed here last week with a large party of friends for a week's skiing. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the central lift and is virtually ski in ski out. It is also very handy to the centre of the town for access to the shops bars and restaurants etc. Whist it is not a fancy hotel, it was clean, and had all the essential facilities one would expect and was just right for a group of skiers looking to have a fun week on holiday. There is a cosy bar area and the food was plentiful and generally very tasty. Perhaps the best thing about this hotel though was the staff, who were helpful, friendly, and very patient with our quite boisterous party with hardly a word of Italian between us!!
'Mula' the dog was also a big hit with our group. Gratzi mille, folks, thanks for a wonderful week, love Alan (Sooty) & co 🤗😘

After reading positive reviews we booked a triple room through Crystal. We clearly stayed in a different hotel to everyone else here, the room was not very clean with toe nails on the floor and hair in the shower. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything, people returning late from the bars, the gent next door going to the toilet and the cleaning staff who on the last day decided to start cleaning rooms at 05:30 in the morning with complete disregard to guests who didn't need to be up till 07:00. They were laughing and joking, scrapping stuff across the floor and talking very loudly. The bar area is ok, but not very cosy and close to the front door so lots of draughts. Staff were generally friendly especially in the restaurant.
The food was very mixed in terms of quality, very good salad bar, good first car which was normally pasta, but the second course was in our opinion quite poor. Some dishes were interesting, like a bowl of cheese sauce with a stone cold boiled egg in it, a bowl of beef which was nice but no veg, nothing, and sausage and beans which was literally sausage and beans. Certainly not a culinary delight.
It was close to the slopes, but I would not stay here again.

We came away as a family over the Christmas week, being the first set of flights out from the UK for the ski season we were met warmly and attentively. Our children (14, 11 & 9) were welcomed from the moment we got there, and even after a slip up one meal time where we were completely forgotten about, Fabio and his team couldn't do enough to rectify this issue for the rest of the week. Every day the food selection blew us away, we often didn't order starters or mains as the buffet selection was amazing. The rooms and wardrobe space is a little limited and the bathrooms could do with updating, however the rooms were immaculately cleaned every day, the mattresses comfy and the view from our room was spectacular, honestly there couldn't have been a hotel with quite the same view point of the valley. The heated boot room is easily accessible from the hotel but very small, and the ski/board room is pretty treacherous to access down a steep slope especially if there is ice or snow on the ground, so we opted to keep out equipment at the chair lift store rooms. All in all we had a brilliant stay and would definitely be coming back!

Had a lovely holiday. The staff were very friendly, particularly Dregos who makes the best coffee in the mountains.

Would have given 5 if it hadn’t been for the smell from the drains in the bathrooms. Simply need to fit the valve trap properly in place in the shower outlet to prevent smell coming back up.

Booked through Crystal Ski for my partner and I, first impressions wasn’t good as the first room we got allocated stunk of cigarette smoke as if it’s been smoked in all week. Not happy I spoke with the on duty manager and within a couple of hours she had managed to swap us to a different room.
All the rooms are basic and very small but almost adequate for a cheap weeks skiing.
The restaurant although small in size but out good quality food night after night and the restaurant staff were attentive and I couldn’t fault them.
Book room again was compact but all the boot warmers were switched on.
Good position near to the main lift with just a couple of minutes walk and easy walk into the town. To no fault of the hotel a bar in the centre of town had a disco outside every afternoon and you could here this from the hotel and the property opposite had dogs which were barking constantly all day!

All in all I had a great holiday and cake was out on for when you get off the slopes but this is limited and had all gone a couple of times when we got back.

I forgot to mention the beds were too hard for my back and the rooms are noisy from the surrounding rooms above to the side and the corridors can echo around

Do the rooms come with tea and coffee facilities?
Answer from Bridget W
Withersfield, United Kingdom40 contributions13 helpful votes
No but as said previously there is a bar which is always available. Last year they did free tea and nibbles every afternoon. Ok you miss on the first cuppa of the day but overall I would not let this stop you from going. The location etc far outweigh the lack of tea coffee making facilities in my opinion. Enjoy
