Casa Colomba is a special place. Pina treats you like family. The food provided in the room is perfect for breakfast and an afternoon snack. The room is very comfortable and clean. Every detail is taken care of. And the view, well you are in the land that god created. Prego!
WOW. the amazing views, rooms food and hospitality of this place truly made our overall experience of th amalfi coast a great one. parking was a tad tricky (as it is EVERYWHERE on the coast) but was included. the host and his lovely family are simple home away from home. We stayed at 4 different places while in the area, but in hindsight, would have cancelled all other reservations and stayed here the whole time. This was amazing!!! PLEASE check them out. Book via Air BNB or contact them directly for the best pricing. you will not be sorry!
We have extremely fond memories of Pina and her beautiful little piece of paradise on the cliffside in Praiano. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, if a little sparse in the rooms. The main challenge is getting to the hotel (and your room). Our room was a total of 230 steps from the main road. But we had read about this when we booked, and decided, based on photos of the views, that it would be worth it. And it was (plus, it was good for us). We were definitely the oldest people staying there at the time we were there This might have to do with the steep and many steps, or it might have to do with the fact that the hotel is somewhat more reasonable than some in Praiano. Anyway, we are glad we stayed here. our little terrace had stunning views of the sunset over Capri, and of Positano, and we simply could not get enough of the gorgeous skies morning and night. Our room was right above the terrace, which has the same views (but then you are sharing them with the other breakfasters). We picnic'd a few times on the terrace, just a little wine and charcuterie before going out for dinner. Remember, if you go out for dinner, you have to walk back up those stairs at the end of the night! (all good) We found Praiano a bit of a challenge in terms of the transportation (you must rely on buses to get to and from this town from the rest of the Amalfi coasts as there is no commercial harbor in this town. But Pina can help you with all you need to know to make your way around. The highlight of our stay (besides several incredible restaurants, and the town itself), was our walk on the Path of the Gods. One special feature of Casa Colomba is that your room is built into the same cliff you need to climb to get to the Path! We simply walked up another flight of steps to the top of the hotel and we were on the small path that goes across the top of the village and we followed it to the left as it turned to the steep mountain path that twists and turns to the monastery perched high above the town and the hotel. What a gem. We bought water from the man there, and then followed the path further up til we reached the Sentieri Deigli Dei (Path to the Gods). There were quite a few people walking, but it was not too bad (not as busy as other seasons I'm sure), and we enjoyed stunning views, a picnic along the way, and we walked to Nocelle (as recommended by Pina), where you can (and we successfully did but it was challenging in the crowds/lines waiting) get a small bus down to Positano. You can also walk 45 minutes down a lot of steps until you are in Positano. We were glad we caught the bus. the walk took us about 3 hours from our hotel to Nocelle, then we waited for the bus for 30 minutes, and it took about 20 minutes to get down the mountain to Positano, where we had a late lunch, shopped and took the bus back to Praiano. If you have a rental car in the Amalfi, there is parking provided at Casa Colomba. (remember you don't have to take your luggage up all those stairs, they will have you put it on a "dumb waiter" that they will send down for it). Thank-you Pina for a great stay.…
The people who run this amazing place made us feel we were part of their family. Always available for any request and even more. They gave us lots of suggestions on where to go, what to do. We could feel they care and they are very passionate about their customers. Breakfast on that terrace was absolutely breathtaking, a quite place on top of the hill facing the paradise. We'll be back for sure! Deeply suggested!
My partner and I stayed at Casa Colomba for 5 nights in May/June 2018. We absolutely loved it and honestly cannot report any negatives. The stairs up to the hotel were daunting at times (especially in the heat) but it was manageable and well worth it. The service was excellent, rooms were impeccably clean, the view was incredible, and the continental breakfast was great. We were so sad to leave! I highly recommend doing the Path of the Gods which starts very close to the hotel. The best view of the Amalfi Coast by far!
