We booked this hotel due to the promise of a terrace with sea view. The terraces are not really private as they are only separated by some wrought iron fencing and wicker fencing. At the end of these are ropes that do not provide any privacy and you can look along all the terraces. Our particular room was at one...

Me and my boyfriend visited Positano as part of our month-long trip around Europe, and Il Gabbiano was our most expensive stop. Understandably, we were looking forward to comfortable beds and good night sleep. We were beyond disappointed. Now, the hotel itself is nice: views from the balcony are amazing, breakfast food is nice, staff are friendly, rooms are clean....

The view is exquisite. The Hotel is 3 stars, and a good 3 stars. The location is up the hill, so is a bit of a walk, if coming from Port with luggage, recommend catching the bus & going around the town to get there. Rooms are clean, tidy. Breakfast is good and included. As per the website everything lives...

We stayed at Gabbiano in July 2016 and truly felt the Italian hospitality. With a gorgeous sea-view room, a provincial breakfast in the morning (great if you love apricots and croissants), and a super-friendly staff, we were totally at ease during our first trip to Italy. Dannilo was so helpful and cool. Every day, after a lazy day at the...

Stayed 4 nights in the room with a terrace and view. The view and terrace is great, it's nice to have a glass of wine as night falls. There isn't much privacy on the Terrace as there are 3+room also with terraces on the same floor. If you are a light sleeper this is NOT the hotel for you as...

Able to stop outside, which is great for Positano as most hotels had long walks, aircon really quick cooling down the room, big bathroom with power shower and bath sheets that covers you. Great balcony with sunloungers and views to die for. The only downside were the beds very hard and only 1 pillow on each.

The views here are amazing and the staff are really helpful and polite. Beautiful terrace. Clean room. Great shower. Basic enough but nice breakfast. My only reason for 4 stars is the bed was very uncomfortable.

Hotel Il Gabbiano offers different type of terraces, some have direct sunlight, some don't, but the great sea view is quaranteed in every room. Rooms are very simple, a bit worn out. The hotel locates in a quiet area of Positano and you have to conquer massive amount of steps to reach a beach and more livelier area. Breakfast is...

We stayed here a few nights for our honeymoon and tried hard to enjoy the hotel, but it was extremely uncomfortable for the following reasons: -air conditioner did not work well -walls were paper thin and we could hear everything going on -Internet wifi never worked once during our stay -pillows were lumpy and bed was really hard -breakfast was...

The hotel is not too far from the city however as others have said, there are PLENTY of stairs. Unfortunately Google maps does not really give this away... :) The walk is not horrible but when it is 30+ degrees and very humid, walking up and down those stairs is not fun. The rooms are okay, nothing special and a...
