We've arrived at B&B Mamma Rosa after a hike from Praiano over the Path of the Gods. Initially we had trouble finding it, but after calling the owner he was incredibly helpful in helping us locate the premises, immediately bringing us drinks and inviting us to relax before he'd come to us again to inform us of everything important. He's an extraordinarily nice person, very good to talk to and the manner in which he conducted himself made it immediately apparent to us that this was a really nice place to spend our vacation at. The B&B itself is one of the prettiest, comfiest, most well kept and clean stays we've had so far. The accomodations are very modern but still retain a classic Italian flair. You get a very big room with an incredibly spacious bathroom with everything you could ever ask for (including a high-end hair dryer and a spacious shower cabin with an overhead showerhead and a detachable one).

Breakfast is served by the owner himself in your room on the balcony and in accordance with everything else so far, breakfast was outstanding. It cannot be overstated how well this establishment carries itself and looks after its guests. You get an incredible view over Positano while having your breakfast which just further cements this amazing experience. He is very communicative about everything one might need, offering help and advice all the way (on his birthday even inviting us for drinks with him). It's hard to put into words the familiar atmosphere he and his family have created at Mamma Rosa.

If you're looking for a very nice place to stay to enjoy your vacation on the Amalfi coast in Positano, the B&B Mamma Rosa is heartily recommended by us :)

11/10, couldn’t have imagined a better place to stay & to experience the Amalfi coast in all of its Beauty!

The short review:
The hospitality, price, location, comfort, cleanliness, food & views were unrivalled at B&B Mamma Rosa compared to any other place we have stayed.

The Full review:
Mamma Rosa is located high up in the mountains above Positano, so the views are unbelievable. The bus takes about 15 minutes up the mountaisn from positano and has some stunning views, theres plenty steps up to Mamma Rosa after you get off the bus but the view from the rooms, the balcony and the lounge are worth every step!

We don’t think we have ever had better hosts in our whole lifetime than Angelo and his family. Angelo & his Mother provide breakfast everyday, and its a perfect start to the day. Angelo also has plenty of great reccomendations for food later in the day around Positano and nearby to the B&B.

Due to the location of Mamma Rosa, and staying in Positano, you are open to so many great trips and options of exploring the amalfi coast. Angelo gave us some great guidance for travelling around the coast and some great recommendations for the best places to visit such as Capri, the path of the gods, Amalfi, Ravello & more.

We couldn’t reccomend staying here anymore, this is the best place to enhance your Amalfi coast experience and take in the amazing views of the coast!

Thank you Angelo & Family

Ben & Ella

This was our (my wife and I) first time to Italy and Angelo made it a memorable one! Positano was amazing, but our stay @ Mamma Rosa made the whole experience.

The location was great for exploring Positano city center as well as near by towns and sites since it was located right next to the bust stop. In terms of the room and house is was the the biggest room we've had in our travels through Europe (6+ hotels) and the views from our private balcony during breakfast were to die for.

Angelo was the best as he helped us with tips and scheduling transportation for the remainder of our stay in Italy, not just Positano. He was by far the most accommodating and welcoming of any host we've met. I wouldn't recommend staying anywhere else and will be sure to stay here again on our next trip back. Thank you Angelo and Mamma Rosa for the incredible hospitality and memories!

Loved staying at B&B Mamma Rosa Positano! Angelo was very attentive with anything we needed and the rooms are very clean. The view from the rooms cannot be beat as you are above Positano and have the whole panoramic view. The breakfast was lovely from the balcony every morning and you have nearby access for the bus to take you into town. A grocery store and a few restaurants are within walking distance and the Path Of The Gods hike, which is breathtaking! We would definitely stay here again! Angelo is a super nice guy! There are some stairs to walk up to the B&B, but the views are incredible! Don't look anywhere else... this is the place to stay for peace and quiet. It's the stairway to heaven!!!

I did already book the accommodation but with some email conversations during which I expressed my concern about the general parking issue and difficulty in travelling to and from Positano Angelo went against his own interest and suggested a few hotels in Positano center which also had parking options available due to the fact that relying on the hourly buses for a precious 2-night stay for Positano is not ideal.

I picked Angelo's place for the views, the reviews, etc. in the first place, and so I recommend everyone who intends to stay for Positano for a longer period to stay at Angelo's, as I can tell he's a decent and honest host just by email communication so imagine how good your stay will be when you finally meet him.

We stayed at Mamma Rossa for couple of days during our visit to Positano and couldn't have asked for a better place. The views were absolutely amazing and the host was very accommodating with all of our requests! He even helped us with some scooter rentals in Positano.

Highly recommend staying at Mamma Rossa!

We were oh so very fortunate to come back to this little piece of heaven for a second time in a couple of years. We traveled with another couple this time who loved it as much as we did! We stayed for 4 wonderful nights from October 8 - 12th. Angelo and his family are warm, welcoming and everything you could possibly want/need/imagine in hosts! Angelo has a wealth of information on his area, recommendations, schedules, whatever you need is no trouble. His English is excellent and he's extremely responsive to emails/texts. We decided this time to enjoy a home-made mea/dinnerl cooked for us on our last night as we were exhausted (after Path of Gods! a must do!) and needed to be up early. Dinner was wonderful and overlooking the views, out of that window you couldn't possibly have a care in the world. I would recommend this place in a heart beat. Especially if you like to be out of the crowds. Perched up top (yes those stairs are still there!) the views are incredible and very peaceful. It's situated within walking distance of 3 very good restaurants, the bus into town(s) right at the bottom of the stairs, and a small grocery store. You can be to the heart of Positano in 20 minutes easily by bus. We walked down (a kajillion steps) as well which was lovely. What else could you possibly need? If you are in this area, do yourselves a favour and enjoy this place. It's like no other!!

Loved everything about our stay, including the strange churning noise that greeted us on arrival (neighbors washing their chestnuts), the large squash growing outside the fence along the 220 step stairway leading to the B&B, which was tenderly supported by a hand-made hanging platform, and the neighbor tending grape vines in his front yard along that same stairway. So happy to be removed from the crazy tourist-filled streets of Positano. This was a great location from which to walk to the beginning of the path of the gods. Head towards Nocele and turn right at the sign that directs you to the walking path to Nocele (which is before you arrive at the car park/bus stop for Nocele). Note that there is a little town square in Nocele with fantastic views and a very clean public restroom (lucky find for us). Take a copy of the map you can download from the internet as it identifies numbered markers that correspond with the various paths. As all the reviewers have stated, Angelo is a superb host. Our lone complaint was spotty internet (weather related apparently), which was remedied the same day with a replacement signal booster that Angelo obtained in Salerno. Enjoyed a fantastic Mamma Rosa dinner, Angelo's homemade wine and beautiful cappuccinos each morning. Really appreciated their willingness to do some laundry for us on our last day as we still had a couple of weeks of travel ahead of us. All of the foregoing services were incredibly affordably priced (yes, Angelo, you should charge more :). Thank you for getting our holiday off to a perfect start!

If you have the time read at least 10 reviews or more about Mama Rosa's. Then take a look at some of the photos and the property ratings.

Why? Because a common theme will start to unfold:

Fantastic, welcoming and very helpful hosts, beautiful and delicious home cooked meals and organic home-made wine, breathtaking views of Positano and the Amalfi Coast, gorgeous and super clean accommodation, family atmosphere, close to Positano and the Walk of the Gods (a must do), out-of-this world breakfasts with home made goodies, quiet and extremely relaxing and the best accommodation in the area.

Avoid the crowds in Positano and stay at Mama Rosa's in Montepertuso. You'll be guaranteed your own little slice of heaven!

We would like to sincerely thank Angelo and Melania for their gracious hospitality and for making our trip to the Amalfi Coast so special. It really was the highlight of our trip to Italy and we are so glad that we were able to experience Mama Rosa's. Much love from Australia - Desiree and Jack

How long would it take to walk from here to Positano please? Or, if we took the bus, how long would that take?

Hi, You can walk down by a shortcut of steps and get to the centre and the main beach in 30-40 minutes max or get the bus, the stop is just below the B&B, and get to the centre in 20-30 minutes depending on the traffic. The bus runs every hour from 7.30am until 11.20pm every day.
