If you are coming to Positano via the ferry, this is a great location. If you are coming by land, you will need to walk quite a distance from the nearest drop off. There is no parking for your vehicle. Luckily, we decided to take a train from Rome to Salerno and then the ferry. It ended up being more economical than renting a car, and much less stressful.
The hotel check-in was a little odd. A woman was waiting to meet us at the front of the hotel. When we arrived, she checked our names on her list and then we walked down to her office in the basement. After we paid, she handed us a key and that was it. So, a little odd, but relatively seamless.
The apartment is older, but it was clean. Beds are hard, but that seems pretty standard or Italy.
We stayed in the 1 bedroom sea view, which had a huge balcony. It had four beds in one place which was what we wanted for our family, and was very hard to find anything else like it in Positano.
The shower is small and has very little water pressure. The temperature also seemed inconsistent, but it did the job.
It has a mini kitchen in a closet that we did not use, other than to store some drinks and snacks in the fridge, but it was nice to have. No coffee maker, that would have been nice, so we had to go out for coffee. Up the strip there is a nice little cafe, called Positano Paradise which makes a really good cappuccino and has nice pastries. I was super impressed that one of the guys that worked there remembered my order the second day I went there.
The hotel is right on the beach and has it's own beach chairs. It's right on the strip, which seems like the place to be in Positano, which was great. We didn't use/pay extra for the wifi because I bought the airalo app before we left, which worked awesome the whole time we were in Italy. I'd recommend it to other travellers too ($16USD for 10GB for up to 30 days).
If I were ever so lucky to return to Positano I'd stay here again with my family. The extra room was nicer than staying in most shoe closet rooms where you just have a bed. If it was just me and husband, I might look at other places to see what else is around for a cheaper price. You do pay more for the extra space.
A comfier bed and better shower pressure would turn this into a five star for me.

I booked my 2 night reservation on 7/15/2022, however 2 days before arrival I was told the first night I would have to go to another hotel. They would not help us get to the other hotel or reimburse for the 30 euro taxi ride up the hill. Most frustrating experience dealing with Mario who would not help or adjust the price. The fist hotel was up in the hills so no beach access.

The location of the residence is the best. At the beach, in the town center, close to restaurant, port, shops. The rooms are spacious, clean but the buliding was built and furnitured in old style. If you are looking for luxory thant it is not for you. But if you can accept the south italian lifesyle than it is a good family run chouse for you. The manager, Mario was extremly helpful with us to organise our program.

In our stay in Positano we decided to stay in La Caravella! And I’m so glad we did! This place is the best, I really don’t understand how it has bad reviews! First of all the location is AMAZING, and you can’t beat the price! No going up and down stairs with ur luggage and bags, it’s right on the beach. Making its location one of the best things of this place! Our ferry dropped us off and it was a 3 minute walk to the place. The place has Lounge chairs in the front, which is amazing because you don’t have to pay the 25€ Sun bed fee of the Positano beach. We simply left our things in the Caravella sun beds and went for a dip in the beach. We had a room in the bottom floor facing the outside and it was great waking up every morning to such a great view. (Photo reference of the view right outside the residence)
The service was also great they come every morning to fix your bed and give fresh new towels and toilettres. The hotel manager Rosa greeted us in the front, and allowed us to leave our stuff in the back as check in is at 1! Such a nice lady, very sweet and helpful, she’s there every morning and night to greet the guest

I dont understand why people left bad reviews! People were saying that it was too noisy and I completely disagree. Of course you would hear people talk outside here and there but nothing too bad! Again I had such an amazing experience at this place and if I’m ever in Positano again I will be sure to book this place ! Thank you Rosa! 💗

Excellent location to the beach and the main attractions and Rosa is a wonderful woman who runs a business but is also flexible. The Pros I found are that the hotel has its own beach chairs provided for its guests, no need to pay $25 for a chair. This is prime location for enjoying the beach. The scene is amazing and people with be taking picutres of you hanging out on your balcony all day. There are only 2 negatives we experienced on this stay, the shade umbrellas did not work, there was a review that touched on this and we figured they would have been fixed by now. If they working it would have greatly increased our enjoyment because the sun is blazing at times. The second negative is the restaurant L'incanto likes to play music extremely loud at random times of the night up to midnight. DO NOT eat there or drink there, it is a tourist trap with high priced low quality food and drinks. Otherwise our stay was enjoyable for a couple. We stayed for 3 nights and it was enough for this small town.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at La Caravella. Our villa was spacious, clean and had a balcony overlooking Spiaggia Grande. We enjoyed the location because it was ideally located in close proximity of the harbor and wonderful restaurants. The building itself is a residence villa located on the beach. I imagine at one time it may have been a private luxury home. Now, there are a handful of rooms and apartments in it. You will most likely meet the manager, Rosa, upon arriving. She is old time Italian and can come across as curt to some because she speaks little English. She knows more English than we know Italian. We enjoyed our encounters with her and wished we could have fluid conversations. Kindness is universal. If you experience a language barrier, just be patient and kind and use a language translation app if needed. We did feel like those staying at La Caravella are repeat visitors which we hope to be.

We found this to be the perfect stay for our Positano get away. We wanted a beach front property for our 3 night stay and got exactly that with incredible views.

Rosa was very kind to us upon check in and when we saw her throughout our stay.

We loved the tile floors and the shower was great!

Be aware that there is no car access to this location, so you have to walk a bit to get to the main road and up stairs and hills. The address on google maps gets a little fuzzy when trying to find it, just make it to the main beach first and go from there.

We would go back again and again.

Do Not stay here. The owners lied and misrepresented their property. We reserved room number 6, a two bedroom unit, months in advance of our trip. When we arrived we were told by a very nasty woman that we didn't have the two bedroom property we reserved but instead was given a smaller one bedroom for 4 adults. Some one else was in the other unit. When we complained we were told there was nothing to do as someone else was in the larger unit. And they charged us for the larger room rather than the smaller one we ended up in. We talked to the owner and he denied we reserved the unit we did. The place is not what was represented in the description. This was very disappointing.

The location is exclusive to Positano, there is no other place like this. The room was overlooking the ocean, and it was both clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. There is also access to a private beach that the hotel offers to their guests, and it’s absolutely magical. The view from the beach is stunning and gives you a picture perfect view of Positano. The staff were also professional, friendly and helpful.
