Lovely hotel right on the hedge overlooking an astonishing view you will never forget. Unique for the position. Apart on that the hotel would need a renovation. It is a little old fashion starting from lights, social areas, small rooms, old bathrooms, cheap mattresses and forniture. Cheap soaps, breakfast. Tiny the area for changing clothes close to the pool.
There is some charming in the structure that should be maintained, but the management needs to look forward.
5 stars plus for the position, 3 stars minus for the rest.

PRO

-superlative position, practically a postcard
-shuttle service to/from the port convenient
-the wifi works
-the swimming pool (with hot shower area)
-the cleaning

(unfortunately also different) AGAINST

- waiters' uniforms not suitable for breakfast (cannot be served in sweaty t-shirt with sleeves rolled up on the shoulder...)
- few sunbeds by the pool, if they end you have to wait for them to free up
- en suite bathroom with dated sanitary ware that in fact did not work properly
- high cost for a dinner at the restaurant compared to what is served
- in general the most helpful, attentive and courteous staff works at the reception too bad not to be able to say the same about the waiting staff
-the master bedroom in August has too high a cost, from 5 stars superior
-offer beach towels for free but are of bad workmanship and color
-the entrance doors to the rooms look like the wooden ones of an old country
-noise of the music of the nearby terraces with DJ-set (ends at 00:00)

Conclusion: we were fine, but would not stay there again. It is quite urgent to lower prices and instruct the waiting staff to behave up to the fame of the hotel.

The hotel is located in a beautiful spot of the island, the view takes your breath away. Average prices, (considering that it is a very small island), we took advantage of the Half Pension with an honest price. The breakfast buffet is full of excellent quality food, all fresh and good. Even the restaurant for dinner, which offers the possibility to choose 2 courses + dessert left us surprised: large portions and excellent quality dishes. The staff is very kind and helpful, we congratulate Carlo, the driver, always smiling and polite, just a nice person. Also the maitre d'restaurant was very prepared and kind.
Rooms ready at 14 but the initial cleaning a little below average, we found a lot of hair around the room. For the rest they were cleaned daily with a little more attention and all towels were changed.
A flaw that I must point out are the towels provided by the hotel, because despite being ironed and “washed”, they had a very strong smell of garlic and we could never understand why; for the same reason, having not used much, we did not feel like making complaints about it, despite we should have done so because they had a nauseating smell (I do not know if it was some additive used during washing or what else ..).
Even the prices of the light lunch at the pool bar were out of proportion (9€ a toast, 3€ a brioche that was the one left over from the breakfast buffet).. so my Recommendation is to get something to eat at the port for lunch.
For the rest we enjoyed all the facilities, even the hot shower available at check out in the changing rooms of the pool for those who had to wait for departure in the afternoon.
In general to improve the cleanliness and perhaps to take care of the structure a little more which was definitely a bit dated.

Friendly and helpful service staff... but really bad management policies towards the customer!

We had to stay at the Chiaia di Luna for 5 nights (135€ per room per night). 2 days before check out we asked for availability for a possible additional night since, due to bad weather, they had announced the possibility of cancellation of some ferries. From the reception they initially explained that they could not make the Reservation. We had to do it independently from the website.

On the morning of our departure, after checking out, they announced the cancellation of all ferries until the following day.

Here the reception calls us making the proposal: not only would they have booked them for us (thus denying themselves on what was said previously), but in the difficulty of the moment they applied the rate of 150 euros per night per room proposing it as a preferential rate. After asking for clarification we were told that that was the rate arranged by the manager for that day and that, being Friday, check in would cost more! 15 euros more than we had paid for the same room, same services, low season. Given the stranded ferries they could not have had new guests.

So they literally took advantage of a difficult time to profit on 15 (!!!)€!

Note of merit: the driver Carlo!

First experience in Ponza in this excellent hotel with breathtaking views of Chiaia di Luna beach. Excellent welcome from the very present owner and reception staff; Classic double room with small terrace, discreetly furnished and clean; common areas, salt water swimming pool and sun loungers overlooking the sea to give the customer many moments of relaxation. Good breakfast. Shuttle service to and from the Port entrusted to the very skilled and friendly driver Carlo.
Thanks so much everyone

Rooms were tiny, around 75 metres from the main hotel down 100 steps. Balcony opened directly onto the main road with no footpath. Cockroaches in the room on arrival and a tiny fridge on the floor. Ordered breakfast in the room. Coffee spilt from both cups. Whole, unsliced fruit with no way of cutting it. Vegetarian wife served bacon and cheese baguette when specifically asked to avoid. Cost. 51 euros. Terrible choice on menu and expensive. Pool supposed to open at 10 but regularly still closed at 11. Left on the dock in 90° heat for 1 hour before collection by the hotel. Never in a million years is this 4 ☆. Shocker.

Positive sides of this property are the location, the shuttle service and the breakfast. However, I noticed poor cleaning of the pool and outdoor flooring. The rooms are average but for a 4 star hotel paying 220 euros per night I expected something more. Furthermore, we had to leave one night early due to bad weather and when we reported the situation, the management had no flexibility and did not help us in any way... Not even simply offering a coffee or an aperitif as a courtesy... So we left 220 euros without using the night.. Total disappointment

Booked the hotel for the services offered and the strategic location near the center and an exclusive location for the opportunity to watch the sunset.
Upon arrival at the port we were awaited by the legendary Carlo shuttle driver who in the two days of stay transported us from the hotel to the port and vice versa always with a smile and friendly availability. Very friendly and helpful reception staff, the assigned rooms were delivered to us at the scheduled ceck-in time (14:00) so having arrived at 10:30 we waited for delivery using the pool. Once in the room the uninviting smell and the size of the rooms have generated a not pleasant impact in relation to the quota requested and you have described services, small bathroom with shower foam and shampoo positioned in a shower niche difficult to use, dated furniture, cleaning of the rooms not at the top, access door still with manual key and defective. Hearty breakfast, varied and good quality. Service staff always friendly and helpful, shame about the structure that needs a structural rejuvenation to adapt to the 4 stars.... you deserve mainly x the beautiful panoramic view.

Beautiful view, but nothing more. Rooms are quite dirty and old, lunch and dinner are mediocre, and all the staff are rude to indescribable levels.

On the first day we had lunch on the terrace: in addition to the slowness, a strong rudeness of the staff emerged. At my kind request to bring us bread, the waiter threw it on the table, visibly annoyed.

Another aberrant episode occurred on the evening of the last day of vacation. After my request to bring me the course along with the seconds, the waiter began (referring to my father-in-law) with “aoh, she has a hard head like wood this girl”, only to continue laughing seeing me annoyed by her rudeness.

The icing on the cake was the final comment: “ooo, these morons are still eating, I want to go home”.

I've never been to a worse hotel.

I had dinner at the restaurant of this hotel with friends, in the area adjacent to the swimming pool. Very kind staff, perfect service (they even gave us blankets because it was a bit cold). We started with a welcome tuna meatball, wonderful. Spectacular scialatielli and tuna, the sensational cream tart! The quality-price ratio also related to the location, we paid €250 for 5, therefore €50 each (2 fish first courses, 3 fish second courses, 4 side dishes, 1 half bottle of wine, 2 waters and 3 desserts) .
To return!
