Let's start with the staff. Some of the kindest and most helpful people I've ever dealt with. From start to finish nothing was too much for them. A HUGE thank you goes to Sylvia for everything she did for me. I'm upset I didn't get the names of the lady in the afternoon and the gentleman in the evening, as they were also helpful.

I was there without my son, but looking at the facilities of the hotel, I know for a fact that he would have LOVED it there. There was a table tennis table, some wendy houses, a trampoline, some swings and more... just around the corner from the pool.

The Breakfast was wonderful, nothing to complain about. Dinner was (at time of staying) only 15 EUR per person for a 3 course meal. Cheaper than most restaurants and the food was completely worth it.
Due to my sitiation, I couldn't eat in the hotel - but they were more than happy to cook some food for me and provide it to me in tupperwears to go. No fuss in the slighest.

The biggest asset for me was the availability of bikes. I found taxis in the area to be quite expensive and also take 15-20 mins to arrive at the best of times. So to be able to borrow one of the hotel bikes and take myself around the place was a complete bonus.

If we return to the area, I see no reason why we wouldn't return to this hotel.

It's all about the staff and the food and the service. This place is wonderful.

Very reasonably priced hotel. Lovely breakfasts (fruit!!), and a pool to cool off in. Our room had a small balcony… an appreciated touch. If travelling by train I would recommend a taxi….not cheap, but easily offset against the cost of the hotel.
We stayed here for 4 nights, and would definitely stay here again if in Pietrasanta.

The problem with reviews is that one man's meat is another man's poison... :)

We just got back today from staying a week at the Hotel Venezia on a B&B basis (with two sorties into the dining roof for an evening meal) and we were both very sorry to leave the hotel and the area.

The hotel is perfectly situation in our opinion. It takes only ten minutes to walk to the shopping and restaurant areas, where there are some seriously nice restaurants (pricey but good)... there are Pizza restaurants naturally... all good.

The reason why it was so perfect is because we didn't particurly want to see the regimented private beach areas from our bedroom window, preferring to see trees and mountains instead. From the roof of this hotel, which is the tallest at only five floors you can see the Med on one side and the most gorgeous mountains behind you... We fell in love with the area... Parasol Pines grow everywhere, providing the perfect screening...

The Italians love children and because of Siesta's their children tend to stay up quite late... The town is busy in the morning... all shops close at 1.00pm till 3.30-4.00pm... and the town comes alive at 8.00pm... the area is very safe for all, no rowdy kids... just a wonderful way of life...

Specifics about the hotel...

Breakfast caters very much for Italians and Germans... and is NOT an extensive buffet. I wish there could have been fresh fruit and juice.

The breakfast buffet consists of:
Fruit; (daily alternating between tinned fruit salad , tinned peaches or prunes).
Two flavours of yoghurt; (unsweetened natural or strawberry)
Cereal; (a kind of cornflake, muesli, choc rice krispies (i think) and grape nuts).
Bread; (Croissants, White breakfast rolls or thick slices of brown kind of bread) and the usual small packets of butter, preserves and honey.
A small selection of cheese, ham and sausage.
I cannot recall there being orange juice, only a sort of grapefrut juice and another fruit type drink.
The staff will happily provide a fresh boiled egg on request and they are perfectly cooked... seriously good eggs!

My advice would be if you are travelling with young children who like a particular breakfast cereal then take some with you... there is plenty of milk available.

The coffee at breakfast is very, very nice but much stronger than an average Brit would like... copious amounts of coffee and steamed milk, in two separate jugs, arrive at the table...

After about three days we were a tad bored with breakfast and that is virtually my only criticism of the hotel.

The two evening meals we had were okay... If you have been to Italy before then you will know that they have different courses to us.

Antipasto:
Usually consisting of a choice of mixed salad, a bowl of grated carrots, tomatoes, and either tinned mushrooms or beans.
There is a very good supply of oils, vinegars and other flavourings to make your own dressing

First Course:
Choice of two pasta dishes or a soup.
Unsurprisingly this was unique every evening and pleasant although the pasta was not al dente but a bit overcooked... this was a bit disappointing.

Second Course:
A choice of three meals
The choices normally were a meat dish, a fish dish or a cold dish. The fish dishes were disappointing and the cold dish usually was the more tasty and fresh.

Dessert:
Ice cream, Peach Melba (tinned peaches again but nice all the same) or cheese (dolcallette and parmesan)

The hotel does have an extensive wine list catering for all budgets.

The 'American Bar', adjacent to the pool, provides snacks and icecream. We ordered a sandwich one lunchtime and it was very small for the cost. The bar's alcohol stock is somewhat limited also but they still conjure up a very nice Pina Colada :)

That is the minor negatives out of the way... and seriously, they are minor when taking everything else into consideration...

The pool is the cleanest one we have ever seen and although not large, has a jaccuzzi element at one end and a major pump for pummelling yourself with at the other end. The whole pool area is kept immaculately clean... you will be very happy to have your children play there... quite a few ants but then isn't there everywhere?

The hotel bedrooms are also kept very clean, the bathrooms the same. There are free room safes in all rooms but I left the odd piece of jewellery and cash out and nothing was ever taken by the cleaners... which brings me to the staff... they are charming and so very, very helpful... nothing is too much trouble. We got a parking ticket on our last day and they filled in the documentation, told us what to do and even offered to take the money and pay the fine on our behalf at the post office the next day... and we would have trusted them to have done it too... We went down and payed it ourselves for the experience. Never have we met such kind and courteous hotel staff.

We would certainly visit this hotel again, for its location, the friendliness of all the staff, the pool, and the cleanliness of the hotel. If your budget will stand it then I really recommend eating out in the evening... the ambience is so very worth it.

One very important element, if you are hiring a car... the hotel provides free parking, which many hotels in the area charge daily for (around 15 Euros a day which soon mounts up).

The hotel gates are locked every night and consequently the car park is very secure. A 24 hour manned front desk soon rescues you if you stay out quite late...

All in all - Marina Di Pietrasanta is a lovely and relaxing area to visit... for all ages...

Ciao ;-)

My partner and I stayed here for 7 nights in June of this year during a tour of the Tuscan Coast, Pisa, Florence and Rome. We were unsure of where to stay with the larger resorts at either side of Marina di Pietrasanta but thought it would be the ideal location to explore the area. The hotel is situated on a quieter residential street, a few blocks from the seafront, but set in a lovely wooded area. We spent quite a bit of time by the pool which was nice, although still very chilly but almost refreshing during the heat of the day. We had a nice view over the pool and there are great views to be had from the roof of the hotel. There are a few nice restaurants along the main street with a bit of atmosphere at the weekends, probably busier in July and August. There are plenty more options in the other resorts.
Breakfast was basic but the staff were great. We ate out every night so cannot comment on dinner.

Getting to and from the hotel to Pisa etc. isn't always the simplest as you need to take a bus to the train station in Pietrasanta but it wasn't so bad. Public transport at night was also difficult as it doesn't run that late so often meant we had to return from Viareggio and Forti dei Marmi earlier or face a long walk or an expensive taxi which were also hard to find, particularly at the train station at night.

We enjoyed our stay and would happily stay at the hotel again.
