Had to stay there during a Business trip to Roccastrada, Nothing special, just a simple quite average hotel, i believe its OK for people looking for a place to stay during a business journey to the area. Rooms are bigger than usual i guess about 26-28 m2, bath items like shampoo etc just the basics. Breakfast could be much better, nothing special on that area too. Problematic wi-fi network due to malfunction of router, according to reason given by reception.. I think that the name of the hotel "Granduca" do not correspond with its general looking , but underlines the great sense of humor of owners..
Recommended by business partner for location and ease of travel. Pleasant welcoming reception staff, keen to help out with any requests. Restaurant meals nice and relaxing environment for dinner. Lovely grounds, clean friendly hotel. Nice location and restaurant staff and bar friendly.Room sufficient for my needs and budget. Large rooms and shower facility , rustic look and feel.
Everything needs to be renovated in this hotel: nothing works in the rooms (safe, do not disturb...) the beds are uncomfortable. You can hear everything that goes on in the rooms around you including above. We had to pay extra for the baby cot. The cleaning is not done properly (hairs in the shower). It was very hot in the room and no air-conditioning - when we complained we were told it was switched off and to open the window which we did and ended up em with over 30 mosquito bites between us. Luckily our 9 month old baby was not bitten. The restaurant is more than mediocre. Breakfast is not 4 star standard. The staff don't speak any other language than Italian so it's very difficult to communicate. We left before the end of our prepaid reservation.
This hotel was stuck in the late 80's, but that is something giving him a charm. Rooms are bug and clean. Bed is good, could be a bit better. Bathroom is clean. Breakfast is very poor (I had expected more from italian cousine). Receptionists are very welcome, and believe it or not, english speaking. Overall, hotel has 80's charm, good position. I wish they would upgrade restaurant and a chef to the level what we all expected. Good value for money!!!
Housekeeping woke me and my partner up at 8am because are so loud. Room was quite large but you can hear the conversation of next door as the walls are so thin. Breakfast buffet is very limited on choice. Rinaldo is a key to the team as took him one order from us to know that we like cappuccino for breakfast. Next day while we were helping ourself on buffet there were waiting 2 cappuccino on table for us. What a nice touch.
