The Grand Hotel Fasano is perched on picturesque Lake Garda and set within a 12,000-square-meter park that is filled with palms and banana trees. Located on the edge of the Dolomites, halfway between Venice and Milan, the iconic property has welcomed guests with exceptional service since the 19th century. Once a splendid residence that served as a hunting lodge of the Austrian royal family, The Grand Hotel Fasano, the only hotel at Lake Garda part of the prestigious "The Leading Hotels of the World", now offers a family-run oasis for travelers in an exotic setting. Tradition and modernity are combined harmoniously within the retreat. Rooms and suites impress with tasteful grandezza and warm cream hues that create an elegant lightness that encourages well-being. A day is well spent relaxing by the hotel’s pools, taking a stroll through the lush gardens, or enjoying an Italian meal with local sourced produce in the beautiful dining room underneath the original 19th-century ceilings of the residence.

It is rare to find a hotel that is as faultless as Grand Hotel Fasano. A perfect location right on the lake is completely complimented by the five star service you will enjoy in every aspect of this wonderful hotel. Nothing is too much trouble and it is testament to the hotel how seamless everything runs, particularity so soon after being closed. It was evident many guests return time after time, we experienced why and will be back too.

The Grand Hotel Fasano (GHF) is simply the best hotel we’ve ever stayed at. From the staff to the food to the room to the view to the amenities, it is absolutely superb. We were driven from Milan to Lake Garda by Nikola. Very comfortable ride door to door. We were seamlessly welcomed to the hotel by Joel who also answered all of our questions about the area as well as making dinner reservations and arranging transportation. Before we went to our rooms, we were brought out to the terrace for a complimentary signature welcome drink as well as a snack following our 2 hour journey.

Our room is on the ground floor facing the lake which means we have French doors leading out to our own private lanai with loungers, chairs, umbrella, table, food service and access to the pools as well as the lake. The room is designed in a beautiful as well as practical way. Every space is functional as well as pleasing to look at.

The breakfast is anything and everything you dream it would be. From an incredible cold buffet to being able to order hot food, you can get anything. Again, the staff is attentive and courteous. The Terrazza supplied satisfying snacks and drinks. Dinner at Il Pescatore was smart casual attire but five star rated cuisine.

Massages at the spa were Aveda and wonderful. Thank you Elena and staff! There are several pools as well as hot tubs. Personally I enjoyed getting my laps in in a very quiet pool area. Towels as well as sandals and robes were also provided in our room.

There seem to be many groups of people as well as couples that come to stay for a block of time. And why not? Everything is provided and with a smile. Mille grazie to the hotel and staff for a wonderful visit and introduction to Lake Garda!

This hotel is absolutely wonderful! It is immaculate, the service is attentive, friendly and professional, attention to detail (with so many little extras) and the grounds and location are breathtaking. My husband and I had a wonderful time. The cross - lake ferry is a 15 minute walking distance away. So it the pharmacy to get your pre departure Covid test. We walked up steep hills for the best pizza and level miles to both the left and the right to enter sweet Italian villages on the water. This place is peaceful and magical and the hotel is absolutely 5 star. We would definitely go back again. Oh, just one small piece of advise - Pool area is noisy with lots of kids so if you are child free and want to rest in the sun in peace, go left on the grounds and do not choose lounge chairs by the pool - for sure!

We arrived with great expectations due to its name and LHW status and we unfortunately left very disappointed. The hotel has a fantastic location, has history but does not deliver on many fronts. Pros: the location, stylish bar area and great barmen and mixologists creating amazing cocktails with their knowledge and skills. Cons: poor overall service quality not living up to LHW standards, what is advertised as one of the top 15 hotel breakfasts is not so and was a major disappointment (eg the worst cappuccino in Italy made from a machine), the spa massage was actually very good but the ambience/experience was not luxurious, not LHW and mediocre at best (eg post massage tea offered in a paper cup). You get the impression the hotel is still living on the fact Shirley Temple stayed there as a child. Unfortunately the location cannot save its rating and we left disappointed and feeling it was not value for money nor the amazing experience we had hoped for.

From the initial booking, to arrival and settling in, the team at Grand Hotel Fasano handled everything with an incredible attention to detail.

The rooms are plush, well equipped, extremely comfortable and even at peak season prices, good value for money.

The restaurants offer fine dinning at all hours. The breakfast spread is exceptional, lunch can be enjoyed under a tree (literally), and dinner is served whilst enjoying a wonderful view of Lake Garda.

Hotel Fasano truly is an exceptional hotel.

The Spa services compliment the hotel perfectly, making our 7 day stay an experience we are keen to repeat.

A family holiday with three rooms booked. From the moment we arrived you could feel that this was going to be a memorable holiday. With one room in the main house and two in the adjoining villa they were extremely well designed and exceptionally clean. Food at the restaurants was of a high level and catered for the children - service was at times slow but that’s the Italian way and did not spoil the ambiance.

The two pools were amazing (one cold and heated) and the children absolutely loved the mini slide which operated on the half hour a

The location is just amazing and if you want location location location than this is the place

The cocktails in the evening were truly to die for mixed by a team of resident botanists they crafted unusual concoctions to enjoy and savour

So why only 4 stars - pool service was very slow and at times resulted in having to track down server to place order…..they did appear to be understaffed on this front. Also a car is a must as the hotel has no taxi options in house, with only 5 taxis serving the area you would think that a hotel of this calibre would have in house transport for local restaurants

P.S as a seasoned travel and foodie the breakfast has to be the best for quality and selection that I have every had worldwide - Top Marks

I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough. From arrival to departure the staff was simultaneously of five-star professional caliber but with a warmth only Italy can offer. The hotel itself is beautiful and has a perfect position on Lake Garda. If you can reserve a room with a view of the lake and a terrace, it is well worth the splurge. As wonderful as the spa is now, I can't wait to see it in the spring of 2023 after its renovation. As well, I'll be anxious to see if the main restaurant Il Fagiano is awarded a Michelin Star this fall as it is certainly worthy of one. All of this is to say--reserve this property now before it becomes impossible to book!

This hotel is housed in a building dating from the XIX century, subsequently enlarged and refurbished. It maintains its original facade and architectural Austria-Hungarian charm with modern interior conveniences.
It is directly on the lake which means you can just jump in from the wonderful lawn in front of it.
It offers kayaks to use on the lake and a wonderful large spa & gym including indoor pool.
In the garden facing the lake there are 2 outdoor pools, one heated.
Public areas are nice.
Breakfast is served buffet style with everything you could imagine offered.
2 gourmet restaurants make dinner a refined culinary experience, unless you are more for simple Italian fare, in that case you can walk to nearby local trattorias.
Lunch is served under two fantastic century old magnolias with a fresh quality menu.
We had a Deluxe Executive room which is the category below Suite and, for its size, it should better be named Junior Suite. It consisted of an oversized kind of Loft. You enter through an open plan compartmented bathroom, separated from the rest by a wardrobe. The rest of the area has a sofa, bed, writing desk, 2 reading chairs and a large balcony on the lake.
These rooms look as having been recently refurbished, because their furnishings are contemporary/modern, very in the present Italian trend of modernizing classic traditional buildings.
WIFI and AC work very well.
Reception, restaurant and pool staff are very well trained and kind.
Gardone Riviera does not have a charming village as Sirmione or Bellagio. This means you will stay mostly at your hotel or go on tours. I recommend visiting Isola de Garda.

We recently stayed at the Grand Hotel Fasano (not to be confused with the several kilometers away Grand Hotel Gardone), in Gardone Riviera. This truly is a great and grand hotel, befitting its name and history, with very comfortable rooms, elegant lobbies and public spaces, beautiful views and grounds, fine restaurants (including the terrific Il Fagiano) and dining rooms, a very good terrace bar (La Terrazza), and some of the friendliest and most gracious, helpful, and competent hotel staff we’ve encountered … anywhere, from the wonderful concierge, Stefano, to the others at the reception counter, the chefs, the servers, the exceptional bartenders, the folks cleaning and maintaining the rooms and the premises, to the bellmen and the doormen. It simply is a first-rate hotel, we had a terrific time there, and we’d love to return.

We had the most incredible stay at this hotel. Not only was the hotel itself beautiful but the staff were incredible, literally the entire team were polite, welcoming, helpful, and could not do enough for you. They made you feel so special every day. This is a top end restaurant with costs to match but you 100% get what you paid for as the quality of food, facilities and services are top notch.

We were away for our wedding and the hotel pulled out all the stops to make sure we had the most perfect and memorable stay. Could not recommend this hotel enough or is stunning in every way!

Hello, Norman In these uncertain times, with a Pandemic causing chaos for our health and our economies, I would suggest writing directly to the hotel and negotiating. reservation @ ghf . it We have booked on the understanding that we will pay only a small deposit in advance, and the remainder on arrival. We did this, for no other reason than the risk of travel restrictions being imposed once more, or worse, ill health restricting our travel.
