La Ginestra was a real joy to stay at. A family-run hotel, it is centrally located in town at the end of the Via Roma, at the roundabout in town and on the rivers which makes it convenient to access ski shops, restaurants and bars. The owners, Laura and Giovanni, made our birthday celebration memorable. Besides the fabulous food, they made an outstanding torte just for us and introduced us to coffee in "la grolla" which was a perfect experience to share with our friends from abroad. They were very accommodating and helpful to our needs and we all did our best at a mixture of English and Italian to communicate well. We were able to select the rooms for our guests well in advance and everything came off beautifully. I wish they had a hot tub on the side facing the river - that would be my only add.

After spending 5 nights at the ClubMed resort in Pragelatto we just needed one night before heading home. As Clubmed had closed for the season we drove down the mountain to Cesana and found the charming Hotel La Ginestra.
Although only a 2 star hotel the rooms are very nice, spotlessly clean with fabulous views of the mountains and the stream. Free Wi Fi is on offer which is more than some 4/5 star hotels offer these days. We ate in the restaurant which was excellent and reasonably priced, particularly the wine list which ranged from just 12 euros.
The owner spoke very good English and was extremely helpful, even printed out boarding passes for us! Excellent service. If you are in the area make this your choice of hotel, you won't be disappointed.

Cesana is a very picturesque town with some shops, bars and restaurants situated in narrow cobbled streets. If only all ski resorts looked like this!

Hi, just got back from 3 nights skiing in Claviere/ Serre Chevalier. Had a really nice stay, the quality of the rooms is better than usually found, the bathroom was excellent, piping hot water, good heating throughout, good space, decor, etc. Breakfast lovely, and they were kind enough to give me a really nice packed breakfast when I was due to leave very early on my last day. Charming hotel, very friendly staff, good english spoken too. Oh and great coffee as well!

Wonderful small family-run hotel. Very friendly, efficient & helpful staff who speak some English, including the sibling combo of Laura working reception/reservations and her brother as chef/concierge. Has a great restaurant with tasty food and excellent service, although a little pricey if you order a complete traditional italian multi-course meal, but we splurged there one night and had a fabulous, romantic meal.

The small town of Cesana Torinese is picturesque, with several convenient shops on the main street near the hotel selling bread, pastries, food, alcohol, groceries, winter clothing, shoes, hardware, etc. There are also two sports shops in town that rent ski gear. Ski lifts/gondolas for the two resorts of San Sicario and Claviere are located about 1 minute outside of town by car, or else a 10-minute walk - with never a lift line. The town is also centrally located for skiing the other Via Lattea resorts (Sauze d'Oulx, Sestriere, Montgenevre, Bardonecchia) as none is more than 15 minutes away by car as long as it is not snowing.

This hotel was fabulous. It is completely remodeled inside and the restaurant in excellent. The owners were very helpful and patient with my lack of Italian, and could speak a little English. The rooms were very clean and there is a lovely creek outside, and some rooms have a balcony overlooking the creek. I wish they had wifi, but then this was such a nice place I would give it a very high rating and I would definitely stay there again if I were traveling through the area. It is away from the main roads, so there is very little if any street noise. We looked at several places before deciding to stay here, so save yourself the trouble and head straight for this hotel and have an excellent dinner.

I and my daughters spent 6 nights here on a skiing break.
It is a really nice cosy family run hotel. The staff are very friendly. The rooms spacious and well presented.
Decent food and wine. Wifi available for those that need it.
Would definitely return. Thanks again Laura et al.

We staid at La Ginestra during our summer (cycling) vacation in August 2014.
It's a small hotel at the edge of the city's pedestrian zone, next to a beautiful river.
The hotel (although only 2 star) had everything we needed and more important it had "charme" and character. The rooms were great with exposed wooden beams on the ceiling and they were immaculately cleaned every day. The family running the hotel was super friendly and helpful - simply cannot ask for more!
Food was simply great. We enjoyed our freshly cooked dinners in a family like atmosphere.
Service was friendly and fast and the owner helped with lots of advice on the wine choice.
You could feel the passion of the owner and staff in everything they did - great!
We had a fantastic time and I can't wait to go back!!

My husband, in-laws and I stayed 6 delightful nights at the family-run Albergo La Ginestra in Cesana Torinese.

What impressed us most about La Ginestra (apart from the scrumptious food, the comfortable lodgings and idyllic village setting) were the thoughtful touches that peppered our stay and the warm, multi-lingual (Italian, French and English) personalities behind La Ginestra. Fresh fruit in our rooms every day, tasty appetisers sent from the kitchen – a different concoction every night we ate there, and the friendly humour shared with us.

The hotel itself is situated right next to a flowing river has 8 quaint, homely rooms and a restaurant that capture the nostalgia of bygone eras with their antique furnishings and interesting knick-knacks. We had one of the top rooms with queen bed and a small balcony overlooking the main entrance. The shower itself is a bit of a tight squeeze i.e. if you drop something, good luck trying to pick it up without banging against the walls. Apart from that, everything is well maintained and spotless.

In addition, the hotel has facilities for the disabled/wheelchair-bound and the basement downstairs is equipped with locker storage for each room and ample space to store our bicycles and a separate back entrance.

The restaurant is a cosy and unpretentious place where locals and visitors gather to savour quality, robust local Italian food, rich with flavour and generous in servings. Except for the one night we went out for pizza, we ate at La Ginestra every night. Dinner was veritable feast we always looked forward to. Giovanni’s culinary skills in the kitchen did wonders for our tastebuds (though not necessarily for our waistlines) and we were often served new treats that did not appear on the menu and which were entirely new to me; Grolla one night, Zabaione another (my father-in-law still dreams about this!) and Genepi the next. We even celebrated my husband’s birthday there and the team whipped up a wonderful surprise birthday cake with local strawberries.

The food was exquisite with a wide selection of wine and liqueur and good recommendations from the knowledgeable Nicola and Maria. Breakfast was a simple continental affair with an endless supply of espresso made to perfection.

As we were there on a cycling and hiking vacation, Nicola was very helpful with recommendations on where to go. Special thanks to Nicola, Laura, Giovanni and Maria for making our stay at La Ginestra a special one!

P.S. If you're lucky, you might even spot George Clooney at La Ginestra!
