We only stayed one night at this property and it was comfortable. Right in the middle of Bassano Del Grappa with a beautiful view of the town from our little balcony. A very period hotel with much charm. Just be warned that you could hear people in the bar faintly underneath from this room, bar closed by 11.00pm , so if light sleepers ask for a back room. Rooms were traditional period furniture set up. Stairs of course to the rooms. Bed comfortable. Showers hot . The staff was friendly and helpful, even with my limited Italian. Breakfast was quite simple, hard boiled eggs, pastries and such, a coffee or tea, although the staff offered cheese and salami. They had a great bar for all day and night services. Able to leave bags after check out for awhile. Very nice stay.

The hotel has a wonderful location in the old city but is easily accessible by car. Our family had a great time and enjoyed the friendly service or the staff and owners. Rooms were warm and cozy in the winter time - the hotel photos are all accurate, and the hotel bar is very convenient for a quick coffee or drink in the evening. We'll definitely stay here again when we return to Bassano.

Positive notes, the central location where you can reach the most beautiful points of Bassano on foot
Bar attached to the hotel in a beautiful square
Boys who work there polite and kind.
Slightly negative notes.
My single was very small for the price paid, and a bit dated.
Also non 3-star mattress and lack of air conditioning during sultry days did not make my night super comfortable.
Also lack of mosquito nets.
Let's say the Pros and Cons..

Hotel Al Castello is situated perfect in the historic center of Bassano Del Grappa. But unfornunately the hotel hasnt developed over the years as most hotels has. The rooms seems old, outdated and most of them very dark with heavy traditional furniture. We stayed there during summer and they advertise rooms with airconditioning, but it is way to week to cool down the room at a hot summer day. One of the rooms we rented had 30 degrees also during night with aircontition on all day & night. You dont get what you pay for.

Thanks for your review. I have a different view, and I don't think it is correct to say of a structure that preserves the traditions and history of its territory, whether it is considered obsolete or other terms you use for this reason. It does not have the same appreciation that many give and that staying in a historic building from the 1600s deserves. True, if you were looking for a modern hotel, your choice was wrong, you should have chosen other structures, but the value of these experiences are not in the least comparable, they are different things. It was a hot, abnormal summer, and the air conditioning works better if the rooms remain closed, true. But to do a good cleaning and the right daily ventilation of the room, this involves the opening and the consequent overheating of the walls, this helps health in a particular moment like the one we live in, but on the one hand it reduces the functionality of a room always closed and fresh. This attention does not mean "limited function" but attention, cleaning and ventilation of the room for the quality of the air. Sincerely

Not Italy at its finest - a pity, as it’s a nice building in a good position in attractive Bassano. When we booked this place, we asked for a hotel parking spot to be reserved. We understood that was agreed, but when we arrived and parked in one of them, we were asked to move our car for another guest who had arrived at the same time and said they wouldn’t stay unless given a parking place. We had to move to a paid parking area as we had only “requested” a parking place and not “reserved” one. We then had to feed the meter at 8am the next morning (only coins accepted). Also, there was a bright yellow light shining all night in the courtyard outside our bedroom window, so we had the choice of the light shining in or no fresh air with the wooden shutters closed. The hotel claims it has air conditioning, but we don’t recall any in our room. Additionally one of the electric sockets had fallen off the wall exposing bare wiring. The room itself was small and in a boomerang shape not large enough for a double bed. The water was hot, the place was quiet but you can do better in Bassano.

Excellent location, good breakfast and the kindness of the owners.
The room requested for two with single beds is very small, as is the bathroom which is equipped with a cup that also acts as a bidet. If you don't need to sleep separately, I was with a friend of mine, I recommend booking a double room which is certainly more comfortable and spacious. Excellent cleaning.

It didn't make us regret the reference we had in the past to Bassano: very central, easy to reach, exquisite staff and commendable availability (sincere smiles and good humor at any time of the day). Characteristic room and view over the square; adjoining bar (for a more "hit and run" breakfast if you don't take advantage of the classic one, or for a good Spritz or a Hugo upon returning to the hotel).
Biker friendly in its own way (they found a discreet shelter for the motorbike, a very welcome detail that deserves applause - as does the greeting message after the stay). Well done, well done, well done!
Perhaps the welcome kit is a little sparse. The lack of an elevator has absolutely no impact on the rating (it would have been unusual to find one in a structure like this). Venial peccadilloes for an accommodation still to be recommended and tried again.

cozy place, very central, but I recommend avoiding breakfast included as poor and expensive for what it offers. Convenient parking, very close to areas of interest. Attached bar with good service. friendly and helpful staff

Fantastic location in beautifull Bassano,, friendly staff, and from apartemento great views too - cant talk about other rooms.

Easy check in and out, good value.

Cant recommend to people with handicaps, since there are stairs and not-so-easy access both in hotel and in Bassano overall.

Walking distance from trainstation. Nearly everything else is closer.

I have just returned from my first trip to Italy. We stayed at Al Castello hotel (82 euros per night). This is a lovely small hotel, which lived up to my expectations of a typical Italian hotel. Set in an excellent location overlooking one of the small squares. Our room (10) was tastefully decorated, and had two windows and a 'tiny' balcony decked with flowers. The room was spotless and extremely comfortable. The air conditioning was much appreciated, although could have been more powerful. Breakfast was available for 6 euros but there are plenty of local bars serving breakfast, or a local bakery. There are tables and chairs set up under a large canopy outside the hotel, where we enjoyed a refreshing beer (or two), after a long day sight seeing - very reasonably priced too!!! I would highly recommend this accommodation. Whilst staying at Al Castello, we took a train ride (7.50 euros return) to Venice (1hr 20 mins approx). Once in Venice we purchased all day tickets for the water bus for 10.50 euros. I'm sure you will find that this is by far the cheapest way to visit Venice! We also drove up Monte Grappa - the view at the top is absolutely magnificent and well worth the 27 km drive up to 1745 metres! We drove to Sirmione on Lake Garda. This is a gorgeous place well worth a visit. For 4 euros you can climb to the top of the tower in the castle and get an excellent view over Lake Garda. Market day in Basanno del Grappa is Thursday - the town really comes alive then and there are plenty of bargains to be had. A trip down the road to Marostica (8 kms) is a must. This is a lovely town with a castle and wall set high up on the hill. I hope to return to Italy again in the not too distant future.
