A spur of the moment decision led us to turn off the main road for St Austell and head for Charlestown and the Pier House Hotel. We were delighted with what we found. Our first floor room with panoramic harbour and sea views was spacious and comfortable. Apparently these rooms have recently been refurbished - they were well fitted out...

We stumbled on the Pier House Hotel by accident but enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast dinner and cream tea. Good value and good, fast service in a pub snug atmosphere. Clearly popular it as a pleasant 90 minutes and we would defiantly return.

We stopped at the pier house for some lunch while we were in Charlestown. It wasn't our first visit and have stopped here before as well. The food was fabulous and such large portions, we grabbed the seat next to the window in the bar and watched the world go by along with looking over the boats in the harbour.

Unfortunately not like our previous visit. Food was of very good standard but, the service but the service let the evening down. There was know communication between the chef/kitchen staff with front of house staff we felt. We had to ask for the dessert menu after waiting sometime. Other customers were also kept waiting. It was such a shame as we...

I have just discovered this venue for Sunday lunch. This is a local eatery and all the better for it! Plenty of food offered in a casual ambiance. Acceptable wine choices. Nothing overpriced. Have returned a number of times.

Cannot fault this hotel. Setting excellent, room excellent, good excellent. Staff very friendly. Totally enjoyed our stay. The only small downside was perhaps they could have carried the breakfast time a little later. Would definitely revisit.

The hotel was a delight, situated right on the quayside and sea front where the latest Poldark was filmed. The (standard) room was excellent, spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and very comfortable, absolutely nothing to find fault with apart from one minor exception - the walls were a bit thin so you can hear your neighbours! Breakfast was tasty and there...

Despite dreadful weather still managed to have a lovely few days exploring Eden Project ( practically on the doorstep), Fowey, Lost Gardens of Heligan and Mevagissy. Nice hotel, good sized rooms, modern bathrooms, ate in both the bistro and restaurant and the food was very good and portions generous in both. Excellent breakfast each day overlooking the sea.

Just back from a walk around Charlestown on a murky but warm Sunday lunchtime. Sat outside as had dog with us. Enjoyed a lovely plate of sandwiches which came with crisps and side salad, plus bowl of excellent chips. Lovely glass of wine and pint of thatchers cider. Went inside for look around, looks great in bar and restaurant. Toilet...

The only thing that wasn't particularly good was the size of the single room, but then you only sleep in it and the shower was very good. Breakfast great, different types of sausages each day.evening meals in bistro and dining room very good, great staff and 4real ales in the bar. The jackpot was poldark being filmed 20 feet from...
