Western travelled from Addo Park to Colchester and the Happy Jackal. Reception was very warm and our room excellent. The approach to the guest house needs sorting out as it is quite rough with stones. Breakfast was superb. We did not use the one site pool but we wandered around the very large garden areas down to the river. Happy...

This guesthouse is run by husband and wife with the support of Zanette. It certainly was a fantastic find recommended to us by friends who had been there twice before. The room was ideal. Breakfast with home made jams and everything so well organised. They booked a safari for us. In hindsight I wish we had booked longer and stayed...

Superbly clean and simple and well run. The breakfasts with homemade bread, fresh daily, and homemade jams were excellent. The beds large and very comfortable. And outside the rooms, there was minimal traffic noise from the nearby highway so relaxing on the grass at the edge of the Sundays River was peaceful after driving all day in the Addo Park.

Excellent room by the river. Great views of the stars at night, no light pollution. Lovely couple own it and the Sunday evening (when the local restaurant shuts early!) braai was very good - bring your own alcohol. The breakfast bread, freshly made for each table, will live long in the memory. Just 2km from Addo southern entrance, but then...

We were very happy with our stay in Happy Jackal. The room was very clean. We were able to use the braii for one of our dinner nights. The internet was sufficient. The hosts were very accommodating. Best of all, the presentation and the choices of breakfast were excellent. Highly recommended.

We stopped here for one night to split our journey between Cape town and Pietermaritzburg. We arrived at 1800 just as reception was about to close. Zanette was very welcoming and made sure that we knew where everything was before she left. The self catering cottage was equipped with a fridge, microwave and tea/coffee making facilities and cooking/eating implements. As...

Well situated beside the quieter Southern entrance to Addo Elephant Park, The Happy Jackal is a picturesque and comfortable guesthouse. Nice rooms, beautifully decorated, access to lovely gardens and the riverside. Breakfasts were good with nice variety and quality ingredients. We had a couple of issues which tainted our two night stay. Whenever we booked, 6 months ahead of our...
