Travelling as a couple showing my mother through the Aveyron, the Hotel de France was easy to find as it is located on the main road through Espalion. The rooms are surprisingly quiet and even on New Year's Eve we didn't hear much street noise. There is plenty of on-street parking and the hotel has its own parking lot behind...

We stayed here with a group of cyclists on our St Malo to Nice event. The rooms are comfortable and good value. There's plenty of parking behind the hotel and the wifi works well. We'd definitely use it again.

We wanted to stay in Espalion, and this was the only one we could find. It certainly is a budget hotel. At €49 per night, you get what you pay for. The rooms are advertised as soundproof, which is important because the room isn't air conditioned (unless you pay another €60) and its noisy when you open the window. I'm...

Don't really understand some of the 'average' reviews here. This hotel was the cheapest (49 EUR for a twin room) on a 7 night tour and was easily in the top two of those we stayed in. The rooms are comfortable, staff excellent, free WiFi and free parking. What more do you expect for the price??

Pilgrim on French Camino in May. I failed to locate accomodation in the next stage of my walk, everything was booked out to Conques. I asked for assistance from the front office. The two girls worked tirelessly for an hour trying to find a room on the way to Conques. We finally settled on a Gite at Fonteilles, these two...

The hotel was well located and we were in one of the updated rooms so it was pretty good. The service was ok and the restaurant was average. All in all, it was fine and can't really say anything bad about it but it didn't stand out in any way. It was clean.

The city (and hence the hotel, since it is situated by the city hall) is fairly well-located to explore other small towns in the area. Although most of Espalion commerce was strangely closed, we could find a nice restaurant at the doorstep. In general, the hotel is quite comfortable and I would recommend it for a short stay. One strange...

Stopped at Espalion on our Compostela pilgrimage. The whole city seemed shut down. This hotel is near City Hall and the bridges over the Lot River, so the lication would be ideal if the town were alive. However, it seems that compared to other accomodations in town, this one is not so bad.

It's hard to fault this place in which we spent two peaceful nights. Air conditioning, easy parking, free wifi, a comfortable bed and a decent bathroom all for sixty euros a night. What's not to like?! Breakfast was basic but OK for the price we paid. The hotel's restaurant was closed while we were there but we ate well at...

I stayed in this hotel for two nights in June 2012, and I found every thing to be excellent for an hotel of that category. I got a room for handicapped and it was very nice, clean and practical. I specially appreciated the staff friendliness and helpfulness. I did not have dinner there, but the continental breakfast was of of...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The hotel is downtown, right across from City Hall. Our hotel was enlarged and completely renovated in 2010/2011. The rooms are simple but functional. Prefer those of 2 and 3 floors, contemporary style and air conditioned. A pleasant break in our beautiful region. ... more   less
