The 5-star Golfo dei Poeti Relais & Spa is where the three elements that are the essence of the vision of hospitality come together. The three-storey building looks out over the sea and was designed to blend seamlessly into the landscape. Protected by vegetation, it adapts itself perfectly to the slope over Punta Corvo beach, beautifully following the cliff’s lines and nature with a hanging garden on the second level. The Golfo dei Poeti Relais & Spa sits on three hectares of terraced land typical of Liguria, there is water, electricity and Wi-fi everywhere, there are chaise lounges and umbrellas under which to relax. It’s a place in which to enjoy sheer comfort and silence as you rediscover the joys of times past, time for wellness and treatments, for forgotten pleasures and complete rest. It’s the ideal time for poetic inspiration.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I spend an afternoon with my best friend who lives in Lerici and I was visiting from the USA. We did not stay at the resort but bought a spa package with a 25 min massage , access to the spa and hotel grounds & an aperitif. We both had an amazing massage by Christina , she was gentle , professional & went beyond to make us comfortable. After our spa treatments she guided us through the resort to the outside whirlpool. This is a beautiful resort & I hope to return soon again

Too many negative issues--all of which could be prevented. While there is much natural beauty and beautiful cliff-side views of the sea, the following make this a never-return--especially on a Thursday-- which is "maintainance day". This means that after 9:30 am the quiet of eating breakfast and being at the pool will be disturbed by a lawn mower and weed-wackers. Why this doesn't begin very early in the morning where this particular area is deserted, I don't know. And, of course, using machines that are more quiet. Pace the "maintenance" where there are the least number of of people.Or, warn people on the website, that Thursday is not a day to expect relaxation. Next, was wasting a day getting a room switch because the air conditioner was broken. There was an insistance that the a/c could be fixed which it clearly could not be from the outset. Ultimately, several hours later, there was an acknowledgement of a broken a/c and a room change. What was not mentioned, except at breakfast the next day, was that we would have to change rooms yet again. Perhaps the most egregious, is that we arrived circa 2:00 when brutally hot, and found there was 1). nowhere to put the car and 2) there seemed to only be a very very long walk down a path too narrow for a car, to get to the property. After arriving dripping with sweat, we were told about an email sent out with instructions to call to be picked up by a cart. An email was NEVER received and did not end up in spam. It was just an oversight. Not ok especially when the heat is extreme. The accomodations themselves look like a motel. It is the view and natural beauty that is the draw. Not enough to ever return or recommend this to anyone. By the way, our room is 650 Euros a night.

The hotel is in a lovely location with magnificent views. We were lucky in that we had a room with a large balcony that overlooked the Bay of Poets. All of the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. After trekking along the Cinque Terre, it was a relief to return here for a luxurious way to end the day.

Beautiful hotel on the cliff of Montemarcello, with breathtaking views over Golfo dei Poeti. We were greeted at the parking by a charming man (who was the "working" owner ;-) ) and transported to the hotel with an electric mini-car. Rooms are large and bright. Beds are excellent and bathroom not large but well-appointed. Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgable. Breakfast is excellent on the terrace overlooking the Golfo. Diner was due to low season only a sort of snacks and bites, but well presented and with excellent price/quality. Again the "working owner" was helpful at presenting some good italian wines. The hotel is quite expensive; but that's the case for all hotels in the region. But it's a special place and for us a memorable stay.

First of all, let's talk about the view... it's truly breathtaking, front pretty much every room and every spot on the grounds. The location is really perfect to visit Cinque Terre by boat -- not too far from the marina at Bocca di Magra. Although it's not a brand new property, and the rooms (and especially the bathrooms) are small, the views and the grounds really make up for it. ... and then there's the staff. Everybody we met was absolutely outstanding and went above and beyond the call of duty. In particular, Claudia helped us book two amazing tours that I would not have found without her. And Serena found and shipped back to me the sunglasses I distractingly left behind -- something no other hotel I have stayed in would have done so kindly. One important note: the parking lot (where you park and/or get dropped off) is unmarked and is NOT within walking distance of the actual hotel, so please make sure you call them when you get to Montemarcello so they can point you to the parking and come and pick you up in one of their electric vehicles. All in all: highly recommended, should definitely be part of your bucket list.

At 300+ euros per night it seems reasonable to expect a high level of customer service ..... our first night was ok ... room quite nice although shower v small ... very slow service, impossible to get a drink, but room and meal okay ( but far from exceptional.) 2nd evening we were forced to witness a fight between the owner and his staff , swearing and violence in full view of guests. Owner then said it was my fault for complaint. We had to wait 40 minutes to get a pre meal drink as only one barman /waiter on premises & another 30 minutes for our first course. This place is grossly overpriced and a disgrace to Italy.

Response from Dante V, Direttore at Golfo Dei Poeti Relais & Spa
Responded 6 Sept 2019
we are very sorry to have to respond to this kind of client . we are merely in front of a gentleman who have tried with every dirty mean not to pay the bill and to frighten staff and owner in order to get any kind of advantage . we had to state that we should have called to police to have him quietly paying the bill at the departure . I cannot say any other details for privacy but i really hope my colleague in other hotels not to have to face any kind of similar provocations and guest in the future .

My wife and I drove here and stayed for 3 nights in Sept 2018. We relaxed the day we arrived, had a spa day and toured cinque terre on another day. Cinque Terre gets Disneyland level crowded - but still worth seeing especially by traveling via boat. So staying at a quite place with beautiful views was very much appreciated. We had breakfast and dinner here all three days and the restaurant food, service and views were highlights of our two week trip.
