As soon as I stepped foot into Pita Maha Resort, I felt an immediate sense of peace and tranquillity. I was amazed by the grandeur of the traditional Balinese decor and all the staff were so welcoming and friendly nothing was too much trouble for them. I stayed in a Royal Pool Villa and what an amazing stay (my pictures do not do it justice). Waking up to lie in my California king sized bed, drinking my coffee (ordered from 24 hr room service) and watch the sunrise with my balcony doors open wide, listening to the calming sounds of nature from the jungle below. The Bed was huge and very comfortable and great air con and. Water was replenished daily & I ordered from the room service three times during my stay, it always arrived on time. They offer a free yoga classes 8am-9am down at the pavillion next to the river, such as gorgeous setting to practice and lovely walk down. The shuttle service runs time three times a day, if you want to visit the town centre, it’s only a 15 min drive away, you can also easily catch a taxi. The best thing about the villa is THE POOL, it’s the perfect place to lie in the sun, go for a dip and order a cocktail & soak in those views.
Pita maha is one of those resorts, rain or shine it doesn’t matter you will still have an amazing stay regardless of the weather, escape away from the hustle and bustle of busy ubud town centre it’s located in the most breathtaking setting. The perfect getaway on my own, thanks Pita Maha and all the staff for an unforgettable stay, I will be back! :)

Hotel located in an ancient temple in the middle of nature with impressive common areas, natural pools, waterfalls and even a river. All villas are large and with their own pool, the beds are extremely comfortable, at least ours, and the breakfasts are correct buffet type. The restaurant has a spectacular view. The hotel is generally fine, but I have to say on the negative side that the cleanliness leaves much to be desired. The pool in our villa was not clean so we did not make use of it and the towels and sheets were on a regular daily basis. I understand that it is a hotel, because of the location, that does not allow the staff to carry a cleaning cart, having to transport the sheets and towels in backpacks, perhaps that is why they are not so clean or ironed, but in any case, it is a negative point to improve. Anyway in Bali in general, I think they have a serious water problem. On the way out they had a little gift with us that we appreciate. Greetings from Spain.

We were at the Royal Pita Maha - Bali from October 13th to 24th, 2023 and would like to report on our experiences at this resort: We arrived quite cheaply by taxi and were greeted very warmly. There was a welcome drink and then we were shown our villa and our suitcases were brought. We were immediately overwhelmed by the friendliness, the cleanliness and the huge villa, the great, large pool with a fantastic view.
We had booked breakfast at the same time, which was extremely plentiful and could be selected from the buffet. You were constantly looked after, your every wish was practically read from your lips. The quality of the food is really outstanding! The selection changes daily, so there is enough variety.
The villa is cleaned several times a day, the curtains are drawn in the evening when you are away, etc. You immediately feel very comfortable and secure. Water is constantly supplied. Bath towels in abundance. Everything is extremely clean and well maintained.
A bottom flush toilet ensured the necessary hygiene. Everything worked here, which is apparently not a given in other accommodations. All sockets are compatible with Euro plugs. The large pool was great. Above all, it was our first pool in which we felt comfortable in the well-tempered water from the very first second. So far, even in Thailand, we have had cold water or expensive heated pools that were still unpleasantly cold. In the Royal Pita Maha, on the other hand, it was simply fantastic. The grounds are huge, even with an elevator, as it slopes steeply on both sides. You can almost get lost. There are large, mysterious pools everywhere, a lagoon, and towels are provided there too. We were also given one-hour massages, which were wonderfully soothing. Here, too, you felt like something very special. When I was not feeling well, Mrs. Lia lovingly looked after me with tea. The manager and the hotel manager are not above having long conversations. You are in constant contact if you want. You can even communicate quickly via WhatsApp. At the end, all the resort managers were called together and gave us an unforgettable farewell with great gifts. Of course, this was not without long hugs and tears. We travel very often and always stay in upscale accommodations, but I can say with a clear conscience that the Royal Pita Maha outshines everything by far. Many thanks to all the staff! We felt like part of the family, from the smallest employee to the bosses. We will be back! Markus and Markus

We have enjoyed a week at the Royal Pita Maha in Ubud and we want to highlight, above all the delicious things, the professionals who work there. We want to thank the Manager of the resort, I Dewa Made Arimbawa, who made us feel very comfortable, as well as all the professionals who treated us for their great treatment and disposition (chef manager, restaurant waitresses, Spa masseuses, receptionists, cleaning team the rooms, gardeners), everyone made our stay unforgettable, so from here we want to thank them for their wonderful work and professionalism.
They tried to make our stay perfect and did not hesitate to ask us what we needed or if there was anything they could help us with to make our stay magical and unforgettable.
The villa was impeccable, located in a lush forest environment, overlooking the river and with a delicious pool for our enjoyment. Perhaps what we liked least were the amenities but otherwise, the room was always clean, water in the refrigerator, after doing the "house keeping" always new towels and everything picked up.
From the first day we had the opportunity to speak with the Executive chef, Widana, We wanted to enjoy the most typical Balinese food ; as we were going to stay for 1 week, he designed several menus for us; where every day we could enjoy the different dishes created by him. We want to thank you from here for being so understanding and kind. We were lucky enough to share a "tablecloth" with him and we were captivated by his great personality.
We would like to thank all the staff at the Royal Pita Maha for their great kindness and generosity in treating us and making us feel very comfortable.
Thank you allí 🏡

After a two week family stay at this exceptional Pension, we can only recommend it from a perfect location to travel the whole island, a Pension and breathtaking villas with their splendours, view, architecture, equipment and cleanliness. A smiling, attentive and efficient staff and a restaurant of very high quality, diverse and its staff always effective. Thank you for all your attention to my 4 year old son and ourselves. Pleasure. I am so sorry that I didn’t read these reviews before I booked, and I am amazed at some of the reviews that rate this place high.
Whilst the setting and surrounding nature of the property is beautiful, it does not make up for everything else.
The food is terrible and overpriced considering the quality and taste. There were bugs/flies flying around the food during breakfast, not to mention the selection is quite average and more what you would expect at a 3 star resort.
The first room I was given, the door to the villa did not close properly so security was a concern. In addition, there are gaps on all of the doors, meaning it is very easy for little creatures to enter the villa. If you’re not comfortable with small creatures like lizards (which are all over the property/Bali) you will not enjoy this property. I asked to be moved to another room where the front door closed properly – this was not a problem and I was moved very soon after my request.
As others have said, the property is quite old and has not been well maintained. In the bathroom basin after brushing my teeth, the water took approx. 10 minutes to go down; the shower was dirty; the sheets had an awful smell; the mosquito net that covered the bed was visibly dirty; the pool wasn’t well cleaned. I have seen the comments from the property mentioning that they try their best to keep the property clean, but unfortunately, all evidence to the contrary.
At night I could hear “something” perhaps a lizard (not a small one) moving around in the ceiling, and each night it would wake me up because it would make noises during the night. While I completely understand that we are surrounded by the jungle, I don’t expect to have lizards larger than a gecko in my room. I stayed at 2 other resorts in Ubud (Padma Ubud and Hoshinoya) as part of the same trip, also surrounded by the jungle and did not encounter any creatures in my room. Speaking of lizards, when I was exploring the property on the second day, I went to view the natural spring pool. I came across a massive lizard. I’m not one to exaggerate so when I say massive, I mean massive but to clarify, it was not a Komodo lizard. When we saw each other, it ran left and I ran right!!
I ended up leaving after 2 nights even though I was meant to stay for 3. The staff did not even ask why I was checking out early, it’s almost as if they are used to it.
For your money Padma Ubud is far superior in terms of quality of food, value for money, and cleanliness.

Dear Ms. Talitha, Warmest greeting from The Royal Pita Maha Resort Ubud Bali - Royal Luxury Thank you for posting a review on TripAdvisor. I noticed on your comments that we have failed in meeting your expectations. In the name of the entire team I would like to express my most sincere regrets, and we take your feedback very serious. In related to the animal, please be noted that our resort is built in traditional Balinese architecture on the valley landscape, where natural environment is become one of our unique selling points. Gecko/lizard is part the nature in the tropical area and we can easily find it in Bali. However, Geckos are non-venomous and not harmful to humans. Once again, thank you and we really appreciate your feedback. We hope you do give us the chance to make it right. Best regards Dewi

On the occasion of our wedding, my wife and I fulfilled the dream of a Bali trip, and we are absolutely thrilled. We spent the first 9 nights around Royal Pita Maha and were more than satisfied! We were surprised with a beautiful decoration in the Villa and can only report good things about the period of our stay! The staff is absolutely attentive and courteous, our Villa with pool and fantastic views of the green valley exceeded our expectations by far. Breakfast and dinner were delicious!
The complex is very nice, wonderful green and varied, beautiful views from the restaurant, nice pools, good restaurants, quiet location, very nice and friendly staff, it was a dream for us!
Our Villa was high, so we had a very nice view, further down the river this would of course be less the case, and I can imagine that the many rafting tours in the Ayung River would have been a bit annoying (but I only suspect that, with us upstairs we hardly noticed anything of them.
The only criticism for us, but which does not entail a point deduction as the hotel can't help it, was the somewhat incorrect indication of the travel agency. We were advised to book only breakfast and eat in the evenings in local restaurants (Warungs). But now it is so that the hotel does not actually offer access to local restaurants due to its location, and the transfers by taxi/shuttle to Ubud are then considerably more difficult than one assumes. The few kilometers of track often require a time of 40-60 minutes, as the region around Ubud is heavily crowded. We should have booked half board in retrospect, as we ate dinner almost every day in the hotel anyway. As I said, it's not the hotel's fault, I just mention it here so that travelers don't make the same mistake in the future.
We would definitely book this hotel again!

Had to spend 2 days there as part of a tour (2x pool villa at the top, no. 136 and 137). Main building impressive, clean and well-maintained, friendly staff. However, our bookings were not known at check-in... Great location in the jungle with a beautiful view. Unfortunately, the villas were very shabby, "musty" and in urgent need of renovation. Curtains all had mildew and various other stains, fly nets had (blood) stains and tokays sitting on the canopies of the mosquito nets (which made a racket at night, their "remains" shimmered through from below). Stains and multiple insects around 2mm in size on the beds, cockroaches (dead) and various other insects (alive) in the rooms. The villas were "locked" from the outside with old-fashioned padlocks and at night it was only possible to open them from the inside with a loosened wooden bolt. The patio doors were only "locked" with security chains and were partly broken/seriously leaky. Furniture was also partly broken and splintered, in both villas the drain on one of the two sinks could not be opened. Insufficient lighting on the outside paths and in front of the villas with "tripping hazards". Sunbeds at the private pool sparky and dirty. Apparently the Corona lull was not used for urgently needed maintenance/renovation.... Dinner in the restaurant is OK - but nothing more, but a great, extensive breakfast buffet that leaves almost nothing to be desired. Coffee and tea are only available by the cup. The friendly staff and the great location unfortunately cannot compensate for the shortcomings of the accommodation.... It's a shame about the unused potential - the villas were certainly very beautiful in the past. The center of Ubud is relatively far away. Overall, we would definitely not book the hotel again, there are much better alternatives - which are also worth the price. Certainly - even in Bali - not a 5-star hotel, it's still missing a lot.

Hi , the dinner is very good. It is a shame there is only one restraunt as it does get a little repetitive. You will find something to eat off the menu.
We never left the hotel at night so i cant say.
There are more places to choose from in the Kedewatan area.
