Palm-fringed, powder-white sands; azure, shimmering waters; the call of birdsong; and a whole island to yourself…. Secluded and exclusive, Fanjove Island is a peerless tropical island idyll. As a secluded island, guests share Fanjove only with the abundant resident marine life, and of course our dedicated staff, who help to deliver the experience of a lifetime. Six discreet, eco-friendly private bandas are set along the sandy shore in complete harmony with the environment. The bandas are A-framed, shaped to resemble a Dhow sail, reflecting the local traditional sailing boats which may break the endless horizons as you gaze out to sea. Each banda is open at its front to capitalise on the uninterrupted ocean views, which can also be enjoyed from the upstairs balcony. The whole property has been designed to minimize its environmental footprint. Solar power is employed for all the rooms, and the buildings use traditional, natural materials – sustainable wood, mukuti (palm leaves) and thatch. Simple, stylish and comfortable, and completely in keeping with the unpretentious Fanjove vibe, the accommodation provides the perfect base from which to explore the island, shores and seas. Staying at Fanjove offers exceptional diving and snorkelling opportunities in warm waters of approx. 28°C and visibility of up to 30m. Butterfly fish, Angelfish, Damselfish… The Indian Ocean teems with brightly coloured fish. An open-air restaurant and lounge area is the ideal focal point at the end of the day, from where to gaze at the starlit skies and appreciate the undisturbed surroundings. Appetising fusion cuisine is served on understated yet stylishly-dressed tables on the beach.

I am sipping a freshly harvested coconut, surrounded by calming shades of turquoise sea and white-sand shell-strewn beaches. The stress of the era of Covid fades to a distant memory on gentle tradewinds. There are 6 beach 'shacks' on the uninhabited island, each with a 4-poster bed & upper-viewing deck to enjoy the million-dollar views. Step off the wooden deck onto soft white sand & wade into 28 degree waters. With no schedule, I slip into island time. Doing as much or as little as I fancy. Swimming at sunrise or in the bright moonlight. Having a go at SUP & kayaking. Snorkelling Fanjove’s 11 km of growing reef with its purple and orange corals. It was incredible to flipper swim from the beach and be surrounded by 100's of tropical fish illuminated by shards of sunlight. Divemaster Abdullah pointed at octopus, lion fish, clownfish and angelfish. We went out on an ocean wilderness excursion, passing local fisherman in traditional dhow sailboats. They kindly pointed us to two pods of spinner dolphins! I have video footage of playful dolphins. The whole team are beautiful people, from the welcoming & attentive Jean & Alzaane to the friendly & unobtrusive service of John and Nasri The chefs Issa & Musa Swahili-fusion sea-fare is sublime. Trust me you, are going to ask for the recipes of their freshly caught calamari, shellfish, grouper and snapper. This is a place where you can breath... Fanjove Island is pure tropical, barefoot freedom

After our Safari we finished our honeymoon trip with a stay at Fanjove Island. The Island could be directly put out of the Robinson Crusoe novel: white sand, clear water and lots of lovely ghost and hermit crabs. There are many opportunties to spend time like snorkelling or ocean excursions, but we decided to focus on the most essential things: enjoying the great meals, relaxing and reading books. Our personal highlight was the candle light dinner in front of the lighthouse!

We spent four truly wonderfual days at this stunning private island. It's somewhere between "Castaway" and Robinson Crusoe but with a great chef! Juan and Alysanne, along with staff ( including Nasri and Hakim) were superb. You have a very nice live reef just off the beach with easy access, and if snorkeling/diving and just hanging out are your thing, you will enjoy Fanjove.

Paradise found in this amazing private island. Complete digital detox, remote location with no one other than the staff and other guest's on the island. Crystal clear waters with white sandy beaches, wonderful walks around the island without bumping into anyone! Activities available should you wish or the best excuse just to chill out, read, swim, walk the beach and enjoy the island vibe. Juan & Alzaan are great manager's, very attentive and nothing is too much trouble. My food allergies were a concern with me being allergic to seafood & fish and the team certainly took more than great care of my meals and needs. An unexpected bonus was the turtle's hatching on our last evening, such an AMAZING experience. Thank you so much to the Fanjove team, we will be back.
