The staff is excellent and the bay is huge. 4 Masai are your body guards during your stay and they attend you in their swahili language. The fishmen village is so peaceful so that you can relax easily and eat tasty local food that the nice cook makes for You.

Cool breeze, cool view, cool hangout & cool food. Slow leaopard Kilwa is a wonderful, relaxing retreat with multiple accommodation options, quirky design elements and the best crab curry that I have ever tasted. Thank you Khalid, the chef. Thank you too Badger, Hassan, Moody, guys. Masai are Mwarabu, Samweli and Abiud

I couldn't recommend the Slow Leopard Kilwa more. It's right on the beach with a cool relaxed atmosphere, and the rooms are comfy, stylish and clean. The food is AMAZING - lots of fish and vegetables. The staff couldn't be friendlier and they organise all your day trips for you. We visited the ruins on two different days and went snorkelling in the lagoon, it was so interesting to hear about the history of the area. Overall it was such a great stay and would be perfect for both small and large groups. Definitely go!

Kilwa is an ancient town - a hidden gem in southern Tanzania. Slow Leopard Kilwa (an extension of the popular hangout in Dar) is a backpacker spot but feels like a private camp on the beach. Excellent food, good company and direct access to a secluded bay. Well worth the trek down. Make sure to check out the ruins and take a boat ride to the lagoon.

The place is really simple but nicely decorated and in front a beautiful beach in Kilwa Masoko. I went for the Easter weekend special they had, and surprisingly I was the only guest. They didn't cancel on me and even it was one of the best weekends I've had in Tanzania. They went out of their way to help me organize my travels and everything was easy and painless. The atmosphere is phenomenal, and I could see this place attracting interesting people. During that weekend I went to the Kisiwani ruins, did a snorkelling adventure, chilled and read. It was great! The hostel offers quite a generous and healthy with enough vegetarian options. The staff made me feel like I was just hanging out as if I were their friend. The bathrooms were clean and the rooms were always spotless. I would definitely go back to this place and I cannot recommend it enough!
