This is one of my favourite escapes with its rustic look and cosy environment, good homemade food and friendly service, nature in the valley at its best. The challets are well equipped, outdoor entertainment for the children, walking trails and more. Dinner dance on a Saturday night for the adults. If you are looking for a calm and tranquil escape...

I'm a tour guide and when ever I do the whale route tour, I stop over here for a drink stop with my clients. They are always blown away by the gardens at the back of the hotel...simply stunning!! Very spacious and clean accommodation with own verandha opening from French windows. Nice gardens but unfortunately the pool was green and dirty and certainly not conducive to having a swim. Breakfast was good.

The setting is beautifull and the waiters friendly but... Once in a while a restaurant really disappoints and Houw Hoek succeeded. The beer that I ordered could have been colder.. Elgin is wine country and the wine by the glass options are non existent. The Pork Schnitzel was tasteless and you pay extra for the small portion of sauce -...

Every thing at Houw Hoek Hotel is of a high standard. Beautiful area, helpful and friendly staff, excellent food and above standard rooms. Big play area for kids. Two swimming pools and a facility for conferences. There is a Roadside shop and restaurant very nearby.

We stayed over for a wedding in Caledon. In comparison to other accommodation, poor value for money. No privacy in room/balcony. Chlildren in pool very disturbing. Wedding at Houhoek on Sat 7 Jan very noisy!

Pleasantly surprised. Position so close to pool is not relaxing and noisy. The public toilets should be Checked. An additional expense at breakfast of having a cappuccino should be served properly! It was not drinkable. So rather don't offer.

It was horrible, unorganized and unprofessional. Given directions to reception by a man at the booms with a mouth so full of food it was falling out his mouth, the BreaKfast was charged for even though it Said on email that it was included, there were no shower mats or shampoo. We didn't bother even trying the faculties, and just...

The Houw Hoek Hotel is an all time favourite and regulars look forward to a burst of new energy with new owners! Very conveniently located just off the N2 in terms of travelling from Cape Town (1.5 hours), the setting is beautiful, the new annex's rooms are well appointed and situated around the pool, the gardens are well maintained, the...
