Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent accommodation, clean, nice and peaceful. Enjoyed our stay for 3 nights. Would stay again. Enjoyed taking photos of the birds. New owners are making improvements to the property. No horse carriage rides now. Very peaceful stay,

1 night stay here as we didn’t want to stay at a motel in Gympie. Comfortable well equipped & spacious cottage. Close to Kandanga Pub for meals & Amamoor to watch the historic train arrive from Gympie. Rose the hostess was lovely & very welcoming. She was new to the business so perhaps a few teething problems.

Had a wonderful weekend away at Amamoor Lodge. We had Malcolm and Christine arrange our tickets for the Mary Valley Rattler which was very enjoyable and then had a very comfortable stay in the lodge with our hosts preparing our dinner and breakfast which we had included in our tariff. Our room was beautifully decorated, extremely clean and the bed was very comfortable. Overall it was a very relaxing weekend and we were made to feel very welcome. We highly recommend Amamoor Lodge for a special weekend away in a beautiful unspoilt location.

We had a 2 night stay in one of the Studios, which was quiet, comfortable and exceptionally clean. This property was a good base for our stay, during which time we went on the Mary Valley Rattler and generally explored the area. The hosts were very helpful and provided useful suggestions. We would have no hesitation in staying at Amamoor Lodge again.

We chose Amamoor Lodge for a two night break. Stayed in the Lodge itself and we could not have wished for better. Comfortable room, gracious surroundings and excellent food! Our hosts, Malcolm and Christine, were attentive and helpful and made us feel most welcome. Highly recommended, and book in for dinner too!

Started the weekend on the Mary Valley Rattler arranged by Malcolm and Christine. Warmly welcomed at the Lodge, arriving in time for a delicious afternoon tea. The accommodation is exceptional and environment beautiful. Shared an incredible dinner, prepared by Malcolm, with our good friends. Loved the red wine. All aspects made for a thoroughly enjoyable stay, topped off by a great breakfast on the verandah. We all loved the weekend experience. Book now for a special experience that Malcolm and Christine will ensure you are not disappointed.

Graeme Thanks for your review. It was a pleasure having the 6 of you stay in the Lodge over the weekend. What perfect weather (perhaps a bit windy) for a trip on a steam train and a weekend in the country. Pleased you enjoyed dinner and the wine from Dingo Creek. Hope you had a good onward journey through the valley and managed to fit in a doughnut from the bakery in Kenilworth.

Had the pleasure of staying in a Studio suite which had just opened after Covid 19 restrictions were partially lifted. The Owners, Malcolm and Christine were getting ready to open the Lodge and other areas of the establishment to provide a range of accommodation options. They were very welcoming and provided advice on the area to get food seeing as their Dining Room was not yet ready, had a little treat for us in the fridge and served a great value breakfast the next morning. King size comfy bed, lovely bathroom facilities and a kitchenette looked out over their stunning property. We'll be returning soon as we can .........

Wendy. Thank you for choosing Amamoor Lodge for your first night away after Covid 19 restrictions had been lifted. After many weeks of isolation, we were given 24 hours notice, so we deliberately only made the studios available. The Lodge is available again from 13th June. Chester was so pleased to see people again and of course so were we. We're pleased you had a nice stay and we look forward to the next time you visit and thank you for the review.

Perfect place for a relaxing get-away! Amamoor Lodge is surrounded by stunning nature, National Parks to visit and the most beautiful views over the Mary Valley. The property also has a private forest walking trail and trail over the hills with amazing views to enjoy. Christine and Malcolm are the best hosts you can ever wish for! The food that comes out of the kitchen is incredible. And of course, the Director of Greetings, Chester, will guarantee you a warm welcome.

Only booked with 1hour notice but the hosts Malcolm & Christine were still very welcoming. Also Chester the dog & Charli the chicken were very friendly. The self contained room was very clean & comfortable if a little outdated. I almost only gave a “3” as I hate places that don’t provide a proper hairdryer. Not sure what the definition of a lodge is? not a BnB but also not a hotel. We’ve stayed at all levels of accommodation in the last few years. I find most BnB’s provide some form of complimentary snacks & have noticed even some of the hotels have been doing that lately too. This is not a complaint- just a suggestion that if you want to promote locally made produce perhaps some complimentary homemade cookies or similar. Also most accommodation that offer breakfast do it as a 1 off extra payment eg extra $20-$40 depending on what you offer. Or simply include it in the accommodation cost. We appreciate that Malcolm & Christine are doing an amazing job managing such a lovely place & the total price was very reasonable.

Response from Amamoor L, Owner at Amamoor Lodge
Responded 26 Mar 2020
Great that you had an overall comfortable stay and thank you for appreciating the way we manage the Lodge. What is a Lodge? A good question! A quick google search indicates small number of guests, special location and rustic. I think we fall into those definitions. We also like to think of ourselves as being hospitable and as part of this we do have complementary local cookies in the room – they are made by the Endeavor Foundation in Kingaroy. If they were not in your room we apologise. The Studio rooms that you stayed in, can be booked with breakfast included (either continental or basic eggs on toast) or this can be added or extended on arrival. We moved away from all inclusive breakfast as it resulted in food wastage. In the Lodge traditional B&B, our package is inclusive of a full served breakfast. We do it this way to give guests choice of inclusions and to be able to offer an affordable option in the studios. Hotel hairdryers – I (Christine) am with you there – a result of years of corporate trips where I did need dry styled hair for work. But here it’s a bit more laid back and the dryers do work and are safe, and in Queensland even thick hair dries outdoors! Thank you for not making your review a "3". Hope you had a safe journey home – stay in and stay safe.
