Amazing place to stay in the middle of a rainforest. Hosts are more than friendly and the food is so delicious. An absolutely must to go there. Check out the video they have done on YouTube to get a flavor of the place. Riversong Retreat and B & B / Peter Bellingham

We recently spent the night at Riversong B&B and were pleasantly surprised. We booked last minute and when looking on the map it appears to be very remote however the location added to its charm. The hosts were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. They even ensured the room was warm for us when we got home from dinner by turning on the heater and electric blanket. We had a beautiful breakfast prepared for us including homemade bread. The room was very clean and the beautiful surrounds of the rainforest made for a great stay that I would highly recommend.

This property exceeds all expectations! Location is perfect and the surrounds are too numerous to mention. The hosts are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Wish we had more time to stay in this little spot of paradise.

We stayed at the River Song Retreat in Millaa Millaa for 1-night in mid-Apr (A$120). We wanted to spend a couple of days exploring the Atherton Tablelands without returning to Cairns and, after an extensive search, settled on the River Song as the best option. Leaving the highway at Millaa Millaa, we travelled through green rolling fields before descending into a river valley with the lushest rain forest imaginable. Down a narrow paved road and then a gravel road, we arrived at the retreat, set on a hill sloping down into the merging rivers below. Guests were accommodated in a building at the top of the hill, with the owners residence down a rough rock staircase; further down a steep cinder block staircase were the rivers with a playpus pair occasionally appearing in their pool (bring your wellies - at this time of year, there was mud & leeches). Our residence was spacious, entered via a foyer with a couple of chairs, a large bedroom off to the right, bathroom to the left, and forward into the sitting area and kitchen. Outside the front was a seating area overlooking the house and its extensive gardens, and off the kitchen was a second patio overlooking the thick forest. There was a second bedroom, screened off from the sitting area, with another 3 beds. The bedroom had a king bed with side tables & a bench for luggage & an overhead fan; the bathroom was spacious, all ceramic tile walls and floors with a shower and a long bench as a vanity that had plenty of room for our toiletries; the kitchen was nicely equipped with a long counter, cutlery & flatware, microwave, large table & 4 chairs, mini-fridge and freezer but no stove top or oven (and no BBQ that I noticed); and the sitting room had a love seat & 2 rattan chairs, flat-screen TV & DVD player (no TV channels, but our hosts had a large DVD collection), overhead fan and a wood-burning space heater for cold winter nights. It was not luxurious in any way, but spacious, comfortable, bright and peaceful. Breakfast, which came with the room, was provided in a basket the night before and included fruit, yogurt, bread, juice and coffee. Because the location was a fair distance from town, we had dinner at the retreat - $25 pp – an excellent meal of BBQ steak, sausages, vegetables & a glass of wine. Spacious, comfortable, quiet, peaceful – excellent value for the price.

This was my second visit to River Song - and even though I'd been daydreaming about going back, I'd forgotten how gorgeous it was. The murmur of the river, the birds in the bromeliads, sunrise through rainforest lushness... A generous, delicious breakfast in the fridge (including unique organic yoghurt from the nearby Mungalli Dairy)... Beautifully designed accommodations open to the forest breezes... Carina and Bob have created a gorgeous living space in an area of stunning natural beauty - and they have wonderful gifts of hospitality to share both with their guests. Don't be put off by 'out of the way' location: the peace is totally worth it! And really, all the attractions of the area - the waterfalls, the crater lakes, the dairy cafes and little villages - are within easy touring distance. Just magical - and I can't wait to get back again.
