We spent the weekend at The Blackaddie Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Each meal consisted of several courses giving you a wide variety of flavours. It was like a little adventure you were never sure what was coming next. The service was friendly and Ian the chef and his wife were very hospitable. The rooms vary in quality we...

We do take extreme care over the food as we do the rooms but to date we have not managed to refurbish all the rooms as this takes a lot of time and of course money too but we are getting there. Those that have not been refurbished have however been re-decorated.

The current owners Ian and Jane McAndrew share a passion for providing a high-quality experience for visitors to this beautiful, but somewhat hidden area of Western Scotland, delightful location for avoiding the masses and exploring beautiful hamlets, historic and scenic sites and excellent walking opportunities, we have found this lovely 15th Century country house a rare delight in this part...

We were looking for a weekend break with our dog with a bit of luxury thrown in. Having looked at the Lakes and Northumberland we were so glad we picked Blackaddie instead. The area had some amazing walks right on the doorstep with glens, woods, castles and the Southern Upland Way to explore and our dog was made to feel...

This was our third stay at Blackaddie, on each visit we have been delighted by Ian's food, he never fails to surprise us and I can't recommend his food enough. The menu changes daily we have eaten dinner there 5 times and have never been served the same dish twice. It is amongst our top 3 restaurants in the world...

We visit Blackaddie regularly and each visit makes us determined to come more often. Every meal is a revelation; the attention to detail and the magical combination of flavours ensure a fine dining experience to be remembered. My favourite this time was the cucumber sorbet - LOVED by my cucumber hating husband! A great selection of fine wines and a...

The Ian McAndrew fine dining experience at Blackaddie Country House Hotel is something not to be missed. Ian's track record speaks for itself and I'll leave others to Google this gentleman's considerable CV. So to find this amazing talent nestling in a quiet part of South West Scotland and delivering such wonderful food at very reasonable cost is a fantastic...

We stayed at Blackaddie during our honeymoon trip in January and loved it so much that we came back for Valentine's weekend! The combination of a relaxed country house hotel and one of Scotland's finest restaurants proved an irresistible lure. We stayed in the Ptarmigan suite this time around and it was a lovely indulgence. The bar area is a...

We stayed overnight on the way to and from the Western Isles. We were warmly welcomed on each occasion by Sharon and our dog Monty was particularly welcomed with dog treats, a nice touch! We stayed in the Ptarmgan room, which has a large extremely comfortable bed and the en suite shower/bath is spacious and effective. We ate off the...

We stayed for two nights - fine dining package and table d'hote second night. Both excellent, not to mention the breakfast with wide choice of cooked items. Room [Ptarmigan] was quiet and nicely fitted out. Shortbread and tablet included in case of hunger between meals. Being picky, the kettle was a bit small and the bath took a long while...
