Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One hotel. Quite pleasant on the whole. Nestled in the heart of the vineyards in a magnificent landscape. Beautiful castle with magnificent facilities. Quite pleasant room overall. But I was disappointed by a few things. Like the unheated swimming pool, which was very disappointing given its small size. Some minor problems in the room too. Like the bedside lamps, only one of which works. Or the door, which can't be locked. Not very secure for our personal belongings. Or the very thin bedroom walls, perfect for eavesdropping on what's going on in neighboring rooms. As for the service, it was good. The various requests for bed changes were implemented in advance. And responsive staff. Fast table service, but tricky due to the inexperience of new recruits with little or no experience. The dishes on the Solstice menu were good. I was expecting more taste in the amuse-bouche. But I was pleasantly surprised by the trout gravlax and the lamb shoulder. Special mention for the desert. Sweet delights to share, a very surprising desert. On the whole, the hotel is quite good, despite the few problems encountered.

Short staffed, poorly maintained, had to eat inside due to weather conditions, temp 30° plus, no air con, not even a fan, impossible to enjoy expensive food. Breakfast buffet mediocre at best, not an egg insight. Definately not worth the room rate.

The hotel is absolutely superbly run. All areas are spotlessly clean and very well maintained. The staff is very attentive and very friendly. The old building is in an authentic and excellent condition. The new or converted outbuildings, based on old barns and stables, for example, are equally modern and yet very tastefully integrated into the very successful overall concept. The location in the middle of the vineyards is almost picture-perfect. The pool area is cleverly integrated into its own small park and really offers terrific refreshment in summer. A high-quality breakfast gave us a perfect start to the day.

This was our first overnight here on our way down to the south of France, as our regular hotel was fully booked. It didn’t disappoint. It’s a beautiful chateau amidst vines with a lovely pool and charming gardens. Sadly I had broken my ankle and was on crutches but the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. They advised that we change our original room, with steps going up to it, for a garden suite, which only cost a little extra. Here we had our own sitting room, kitchen and dining room as well as outside garden for our dogs. The wine, the local Viré Clessé is delicious and we were able to purchase it directly from the hotel. I was transported the short distance to dinner in the hotel’s golf buggy, which was very kind of them. Dinner was divine. A wonderful choice of gourmet dishes, all of which were beautifully presented and delicious. The next morning, a basket of continental breakfast was delivered to us, which we ate in our private garden. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff and we will not hesitate in returning, hopefully for me on two feet next time. A great find near to Macon and the motorway for onward journeys.

We arrived after 12 hours driving to be told no dinner was available as it was completely full. They told us to walk to the local restaurant (also completely full). We woke the next morning - I asked where breakfast was. The woman on reception (rather than do anything constructive) proceeded to tell me I was supposed to book it the day before. When we had booked online and had no insight as to how or when we needed to book. This wasn’t pointed out when we checked in the day before. Starving from the night before, I asked the reception where we could eat breakfast. She told me if I hadn’t ordered it the day before it was basically tough luck. I said no one had indicated the day before I’d needed to that - and that my son is diabetic and needs to eat. She interrupted and was too busy telling me it was my fault, I should have booked before. She was so unhelpful and the opposite of providing anything that was helpful. I was clearly distressed and then with her awful rude and belligerent attitude, I was so pissed off (and starving) we walked out. I didn’t bother to check out. I stay in 3-5 star hotels all over the world and the attitude of this staff member is the worst I’ve ever experienced.

A lovely hotel with marvellous staff in the region making Viré Clessé, a fantastic wine. The staff were attentive and efficient, nothing wanting. The meal in the restaurant was truly memorable with excellent cuisine on offer.

Amazing chateau with really friendly staff! The rooms have a small kitchen and a small place to side outside. The view from the room was amazing with a view on the wineyards. We had both days dinner and it was amazing! I really recommend this place!
