We received a warm welcome as soon as we walked through the door. We were able to take our dog into the bar area and we sat by the roaring log fire. Perfect! We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, a beef , mushroom and ale pie and lambs liver and bacon. Both delicious. We looked at the dessert menu and...

How lovely to re visit this old friend. Having been closed for some years it was wonderful to find the establishment has been returned to its best. Great food, great drink, great service and great value for money. Welcome home old friend.

We have had a simple lunch at The Royal Oak Inn, a pub that we have known in its excellent and also in its less attractive phases. The new owners have fettled the pub whilst retaining its considerable charm. The food is simple, but excellent: the chicken, ham, and leek pie was memorably good. The owners really deserve to succeed....

Great menu choice, roast meal and another course £14 lunchtime, or 3 courses £16. Hot beef baguette delicious. Real ale served in rustic bar setting. Jug of water provided on dining table. Friendly and efficient staff. Highly recommended.

We stayed for a couple of nights in November and the accommodation and the food were both excellent. The pub itself has real character and was wonderfully cosy on a very wet, cold Friday evening. Our party used 3 bedrooms and all were very tastefully decorated and appointed. Breakfast, lunch and dinner(yes, we tried them all!) had really good menus...

We popped in here without a booking after a wet Exmoor walk. I'd eaten here before and it had always been good. It was my birthday, when we turned up there was another birthday girl celebrating her 80th (I am slightly younger!). The staff were obviously busy organising her birthday buffet but we were made to feel very welcome, and...

Good local ales to start, tasty well cooked high quality meal. Good portion size. The fresh fruit salad with cereals, and cooked breakfast next day was the perfect end to our short...

We last visited in the summer and didn't need much persuading to return in a different season of the year. We had Room 1/the suite again which is just fantastic with the biggest bed ever. We stayed 2 nights enjoying evening meal on both evenings. The ambience of the pub was lovely this time of year with open fire, Christmas...

Friends took us to the Royal Oak as a big thank you for services rendered. Opened the door and the warmth and friendly ambience embraced us with superb rural hospitality. The Christmas decorations were so skilful and tasteful, none of this overdone gaudiness so evident elsewhere. The service was most attentive without any flamboyance or obsequiousness. The food was excellent, above...
