This is not a YHA run hostel (though you can book via YHA) but it looks just like one; dorms with bunks, showers, kitchen, a lounge. Plus a drying room of sorts (you have to light the fire yourself) and a bike store. I stayed...More

Great facilities - clean, modernised, lots of hot water in showers. Short walk to village for food and shopping. British Cycling team were staying in the bunkhouse when I visited so cannot be bad (saw the coaches in the pub later!)

Converted in 2004 from a traditional Northumbrian stone and slate barn to the highest of standards whilst retaining many of the original features such as the large arch windows.Our bunkhouse offers More comfortable self catering accommodation for up to 15 people in 3 bedrooms. The bedrooms are all named after the surrounding hills:CallerhuesHareshawDunterleyAll of the bedrooms are finished to a high standard with comfort in mind and feature hand-made oak bunk beds with comfortable quality mattresses and complete with all bed linen which includes pillow, pillowcase, sheet and duvet. Towels are not included but can be hired.Sitting Room The bunkhouse is fully heated by central heating and a wood burning stove.Downstairs is a large and airy sitting room with armchairs and sofas as well as a wood burning stove - meaning you don't have to suffer with the cold, no matter what the season making the Bunkhouse a true year-round accommodation option.The kitchen is fully equipped with electric range cooker, fridge freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle as well as all the essential kitchen utensils you could ever need - Pots, pans, knifes, forks, spoons, cups, glasses - and not forgetting the essential corkscrew! A large traditional farmhouse kitchen table provides the ideal place to enjoy a meal in comfort while planning the day's activities, there's also a iPod docking station so you can listen to your own music while cooking up a storm!The Bunkhouse has two toilets and two shower rooms with hot showers and underfloor heating as well as a fully equipped drying room, pegged out for coats and clothing and with boot racks to help get your footwear dried out in preparation for the next day's exploring.Outside there is ample private parking and a secure cycle store as well as picnic tables and a barbecue area, please bring your own barbecue to take advantage of this area. Outside catering is available on request, please contact us to discuss your requirements. The bunkhouse has been specifically designed as the perfect base for individuals, couples, groups or families seeking clean and comfortable accommodation in a beautiful and convenient location to all the attractions and sights offered by Kielder Water and Hadrian's Wall country as well as the wider delights of the county of Northumberland.Ideal location for team building, family get togetherness, its a self catering unit to a high standard for 15 people.
