I stayed here recently with a small group who were on a tour with me. The house is beautiful and in a spectacular setting, but I left with a very bad taste in my mouth. It is family owned and operated and we were greeted by Alex, who was warm and inviting. I met her mother Ruth and also Suzanne who were both lovely. We were all sitting around the in the large entry room where the WiFi signal was best when her father came in. He was very brusk and did not share the friendly manner of the rest of the family. And then later on when we all came back from dinner, some of the group went into the main lounge where there was a nice fire and he went in to talk with them. I was sitting out in the entry hall again as I had quite a bit of work to get through. I heard him ask them about our itinerary and someone pulled out a copy of it and he proceeded to take it apart bit by bit. He told them that if he had not been to it, it was not worth going to and then told them things that they should be seeing that were not in the itinerary. I have been putting itineraries together for over 15 years and I am very careful about seeing and doing what I think is most important or enjoyable. If he hope that I would return with other groups after this, he is sadly mistaken as I will never return! I meant to give the place a much lower rating, but Alex changed my mind as she was so wonderful!

A beautiful, large house with a welcoming and attentive host. If you're looking for a stop outside of Banchory I would definitely recommend. The owners invite you into their home and it feels like you have stepped back in time, stunning four poster beds, home cooked breakfast, open fire and relaxed friendly welcome.

This is borderline because the estate and location are so stunning and superb that they make it very hard for anyone to rate this place average. However, a little more complacency about the rooms and we will find soon some people here who will destroy the immaculate 4/5 star rating. The house is very well maintained and its Georgian character passionately preserved. For people who like historic features it is a fantastic place to be. The lounge and the unmanned bar are perfect for a nightcap and a chat. However I would have appreciated if the rooms, in particular the bathroom, had been a bit more up to date with their standard. One can combine historic character with state of the art standard, in particular in a bathroom of a £160 per night en-suite. I was also not entirely happy with the banquet-style breakfast room. As impressive as it looks but it makes the start of the day a bit awkward. It would make more sense to put a few smaller tables into that large hall instead of the one big table.

What a beautifully presented place, starting with the drive down a winding entrance with rolling lawns and towering trees overlooking a free flowing river.we were greeted by friendly Host Alexandra and shown around her family home. We could not have asked for a more beautiful room, with personal touches everywhere. The bed was so comfortable, our Ensuite huge.We ate Dinner in Nearby Banchory but on our return the Drawing room fire was lit and we were encouraged to enjoy the ambience of the beautiful room.Next morning, a full Scottish Breakfast was provided ,could not fault a thing! Everything including freshly baked bread. Our only regret was leaving. After staying at some very average places on our trip ,Deeside Country House stands alone in excellence and value for money.Highly recommended.

I was most sceptical about this hotel, but it is the nicest place ever!
The hotel is located on the river, off the main road in a park like area with horses, and rabbits and dogs - out of a picture book! Wonderful for our boy. Tennis facilities behind the house. It seems to be an old private villa with big rooms, each individually and tastefully furnished. Breakfast is rich and freshly made. Bath and bed rooms are huge. The area - to dream of.
Olivia welcomed us as if we were coming home.
We just stayed one night, but if I really wanted to chill-out, this will be the place. Simply loved it.
Note that internet is very slow, mobile phone reception is also not that good (if you want to get away, it is perfect!!) Hotel does not have an elevator, - we were on the first floor, so no problem.

Stopped At the Deeside country house for business purposes as most of Aberdeen was fully booked or extremely expensive. The hotel is not sign posted from the road and can be easily missed, I rand though to confirm directions and was greeted with a friendly voice. Once you turn into the entrance you are taken down a lovely drive alongside a river.
I was greeted by Alexandria who explained everything in great detail, once I walked in and saw the interior I was blown away, it is beautiful! I was shown the drawing room, the honesty bar and finally to my room. It was comfy and large.
After finding somewhere to eat in Nearby Banchory I returned to the hotel for a beer and to search out the billiards room. I proceeded to spend the next 3 hours knocking balls around!
Alexandria was a fantastic host who made me feel so relaxed and couldn't do enough.
The breakfast next morning was really nice and when it became time for me to depart, I contemplated stopping another night.
Needless to say I will return, and can't wait.
Great hotel, fantastic grounds, beautiful interior wonderful hostess Alexandria!

My friend and I stayed one night in this lovely hotel Alexandra looked after us superbly and nothing was too much trouble for her...even showing us the beautiful puppies!
Breakfast was delicious and HUGE so turn up hungry for breakfast. Ideal position with beautiful grounds, very comfy beds and lovely fluffy towels. Thoroughly recommend.

Stayed for one night. They don't do evening meals but offered me homemade soup and bread which would have been superb had I not eaten already. Honesty bar with a great selection of drinks. Nothing is too much trouble. My only 'complaint' was the fire in the drawing room was encouraging me to stay in front of it and slowly fall asleep! Real home from home! Be warned - you get an enormous cooked breakfast with homemade bread and yoghurt on offer. It's delightful and really should be visited!

A beautiful private hotel and family home. Peaceful location. (Banchory's lodge hotel is highly recommended for evening meal. ) Very hospitable and welcoming. Slightly disappointed by our room in the attic as the photos looked like luxurious bedrooms. Truly felt like we were staying at a friends house rather than staying in an hotel as it was so relaxed.
